Welcome to the most fun acapella group out there. This was the first song I heard from VoicePlay and was totally hooked. Never looked back. Introducing you to the group as pictured: Bass, Geoff Castellucci, (also sings on his own as deep bass covers_ Layne Stein, vocal percussion/ beatbox, also sings. Eli (elly) Jacobson, tenor. The other two who are no long with VoicePlay, are Earl Elkins (dude with the beard) who sings high tenor, and J.None (brother with the braids) baritone, who has recently joined the navy to sing for them. Warriors is very different, and so is Butter, or If I Were A Rich Man, but everything they do is worth watching.
Voice Play does two styles of songs. Relatively straight forward acapella, like Tennessee Whisky, Man in the Mirror, Can't Help Falling in Love, and Carry On My Wayward Son. Then the Play side comes out with My Mother Told Me, Oogie Boogie Song from Nightmare Before Christmas, The Little Mermaid, Queen in 5 min, and Warriors. Just Sing is a treat for the ears. Personally, I would love to see you react to their version of If I Were A Rich Man/Girl, mostly because I would love for you to hear Geoff's range. He sings bass, sure, but that man can get up, too. I call them the third of the trifecta for top acapella. Pentatonix, Home Free and Voice Play all hit my radar years ago when they appeared on the NBC show The Sing Off. PTX won the first season, HF and VP competed against each other in their season, with Home Free winning. Best description of the three groups are as follows: PTX are the pop / Contemporary side. HF has the country lines and VP are the theater kids. They do incredible Disney medleys (little Mermaid Medley and the Moana Medley ). Queen in 5 minutes is mindblowing, and My Mother Told Me will rattle your brain cells. Enjoy. Oh.. one more thing. Check out Sing by Voice Play ( it features a bunch of former members of the group and other friends from the acapella world).

A lot of people are going to suggest their cover of “Oogie Boogie Man” from The Nightmare Before Christmas as your next reaction. This is mainly because it is mostly lead by their bass, Geoff Castellucci, and shows off his incredible 5 octave range. It also showcases their theatrical abilities as a group and gets you used to seeing them in full costume because half of their videos are basically full scale productions. Once you’re comfortable with VoicePlay, you should also react to some of Geoff’s independent work doing purely bass covers. It’s really mind-blowing.

I love watching your reactions. I have loved PTX since 2013. I'm partial and think they showed most of the other acapela groups how to be successful. They have also spoiled me, I like there versions of most song as well or better than the original.. Saying that, watching you I have watched several new groups in the last couple weeks. BTS, Atzee, Home Play, now I plan to watch more. Love the clarity of the vocals with acapela music. I just need to watch them sing new songs. Thank you for introducing me to new artists.

If you want to hear some of the first in this kind of groups, back in the 90's there was a group called Rockapella. If you can find the videos of them back then, its older songs like Stand by me but still amazing singing. They was the reason I love acapella groups so much now. The current group isn't the original group, and I definitely suggest finding the original group. And then come back and listen to the new.
