Hey Steve, I posted on reddit a few months ago and you responded there. I just wanted to say that I've really been loving my adventure into home-bartending, and have been following a lot of your recipes. I've really had a lot of fun expirementing as I figure out what I enjoy. I'd never been a huge drinker, but as I learn what I like, what's fun to make it's been a great expirence, made easy with recipes like these. Really appreciate the work you put into making these videos. Sorry about the expensive limes, I know that pain these days.
I find it funny how the lemon/lime thing is the opposite here in Brasil, I've been struggling to get lemons, and almost substituted lemons for limes in an enzoni
@@StevetheBartender_ Nice, I'll try some when I get the chance. Keep up the good work! Can't wait for the other cocktail videos. (For those who see this and want a sneak peak, download the Shake and Strain cocktail app)
Here in Brazil, limes are usually much cheaper than lemons. And, personally, I prefer them, including in recipes where lemons are required. Sometimes I prepare a blend of these two varieties here, and, generally, the cocktails are more balanced and taste better with this mix than with only one kind of this citric fruit. So, for me, I prefer limes than lemons, but, if I'm making drinks for others, I prefer to use a cordial.
Steve - you've got some intriguing bottles on the back wall - would love a few shows where you simply introduce them, allude to they're character and some cocktail combos they'd be used for. When interest strikes, one could then do a search of your video catalog to further their appreciation , etc. j
Oh my... When a calm, handsome, talented guy with a good sense of humour pops in your recommendations - you subscribe 😜 But in all seriousness, I've been delving into cocktail making recently and am loving this world. Irish Coffee is on my to do-list for Christmas Eve. Perfect way to forget I'm spending Christmas alone 😂
Great recipe that can turn into so many different cocktails by swapping or adding something else. Add cucumber to this and you have any even more refreshing sip
Finlandia is the only vodka I've tried that I actually like, and I love lime and mint. Definitely gonna try this. Thanks Steve, keep up the great work!
Me and a few friends watched your whiskey sour video the other day but we were low on sugar. we decided to use maple syrup and honey (2:1) in the drinks instead. I’d love to see you try that out! It actually worked fantastically well and I think it’s my new favorite drink
That fake lime juice in a Limeless Daiquiri sounds interesting! We've done Verjuice and some other stuff with acids already, so this might be a good thing to try out!
Kevin how about a limeless Southside, you know I love mint! And since you've got half of a chemistry lab at home, we've got to try making it 👨🏼🔬 What would be the shelf life of something like that?
@@robifiser we should try it for sure! As soon the price of the organic limes drops a bit, we can make it and store in the freezer. And also we can clarified it and use it for some clear looking stirred Gimlets 🤩
If there's Americans watching: I've discovered Idaho Potato based Vodka through Grand Tetons Distillery- also make Born&Bred Vodka & they make an over proof. I'm still hooked on Polish Potato Vodkas, albeit trying all new spud options. Grand Tetons worth a try! (I've no relation to them)
This recipe really catch my attention. I will give it a try for sure. Regarding the limes, it's ridiculous when we reach the point of the juice being the most expensive component of a cocktail. And regardless of season limes are always quite pricier compared to lemons. It's a pity the weather where I live doesn't allow me to plant me a lime tree. 😂 Cheers!
Probably more work than you're interested in, but growing dwarf citrus trees in containers in your living room is entirely possible, and not that difficult. It still yields full-sized fruit, just in a lesser quantity on a smaller tree.
@@bradsimpson8724 That actually sound like a great idea. I can't be sure if the plants will survive, but even if it's just for the extra green at home, it is worth a try. I will check where I can buy one. Thanks for the idea. Your idea will make me busy for a while. hehe Cheers!
Steve, you just need to have a create a garden for your cocktails. Plant a couple of lemon and lime trees or bushes. I’m personally in love with mint/ chili plants.
It's funny, a good friend of mine actually tried to convince me of that this week. Not a bad idea, but I'm terrible at gardening. I kill a rubber plant if you gave it to me😂
I´m a 15 year old and I love making drinks for my parents and I love your recipes. But I would like being able to taste them my self, so can´t you make a video with ten easy non alcoholic drinks. PLEASE
You should make a Paralyzer -30ml/1oz vodka -30ml/1oz kahlua -45ml/1.5oz heavy cream -45ml/1.5oz cola -30ml/1oz tequila Built in glass and should be able to float each layer I found the recipe from the RUclips channel Booze On The Rocks
Dear Steve, it'd be nice if you could switch to ml instead of the ounces. It's time to move on to the metric system. Even the IBA uses metric measurements for their official recipes. And I can't get jiggers in ounces here in Europe.

Great videos..
Find your nearest asian green grocer and buy limes there... i usually find them for about $5-10 a kilo

Finally got around to making a couple , it's a little ripper ! Thanks Steve.
It always feels like a missed opportunity to use vodka when I could have used rum.

Can't think of a better hobby (slightly biased maybe). But making cocktails is such a great skill for helping people have a great time

hi indeed! looks so lovely. Thank you!
Great serve! Would be awesome with some cucumber added too
1:10 So where do we sign up for the "Buy the lime" feature? I wanna see a lime with a label that has my name on it in a future episode!
Also we're gonna need some merch. T-shirt with "God(%*# these limes are expensive" and two of the tiniest little limes underneath.
This sounds like a lovely refreshing drink for summer 😋🥰

Or your parents could just let you drink a little tiny bit, since your at home. And 15 years old.
This looks great!!
This one looks easy to make and I like mint in alcohol. Gonna try it for sure. Thank you!
Give the Eastside a try then. Southside with cucumber! 👍
Steve, I know how you feel about limes. Getting limes has been hard this year. Love the cocktail though!!
Can you do a spritz video? Strawberry Spritz included please?
I want to walk into a bar and ask "Can you make me a Hi Lady please" That just sounds great!! Great video :)
Jesus, limes are $2.50 in Aussieland? In Maryland they're like, 30 to 40 cents.
Yeah, that surprised me! I live in Canada and yesterday I just bought 5 limes for a dollar. I'm gonna appreciate more my lime cocktails!
Here in Mexico is about 0.75 cents of US Dollar for a Pound of Limes
I buy 5 pound bags at Costco for around $6.
@@dougmoore883 damn I need to start shopping at Costco for limes then
We had a pretty bad growing season for limes this year so they're in short supply and are bullshit expensive right now
In greece limes cost 1kilo/0.95€ in the supermarkets
$2.50 for 1 lime? That's nuts! Here in the PNW they're anywhere from $0.50-$1.00 each depending on the season
Man, I feel really bad for you about the limes. Even in winter, the ones I can get usually give 0.75-1 oz of juice per half.
You should make a Paralyzer
-30ml/1oz vodka
-30ml/1oz kahlua
-45ml/1.5oz heavy cream
-45ml/1.5oz cola
-30ml/1oz tequila
Built in glass and should be able to float each layer
I found the recipe from the RUclips channel Booze On The Rocks
What’s the order? Shake ea on ice first and later neat? Or build on the rocks?
@@nicholasclark6678 in the order listed, and at the bottom I said built in glass
스티브의 칵테일 레시피 항상 잘 시청하고 있습니다:)!!
Where I live it's lime that is dirt cheap and lemons are very expensive
Holy crap Steve I just bought some in the US for 22c and get close to an ounce out of each one!
Could you not use bagged lime juice as appose to fresh limes?
Tip: you can get more juice from your citrus by heating in the microwave for 10-20 seconds!
I think I'll make this tomorrow after work looks tasty. Also, $2.50 for one lime is ridiculous I can get 12 for that price where I live
Any chance you can start giving the glass size when yo0t make these cocktails
Thanx.
I think its the first time i see steve complaining about one of his ingredients (the expensive juice less limes) haha I get you steve.
It is actually the second time but the first was also about limes cost and juicelessness.
So its a vodka mint gimlet. Sounds awesome :)
Wow, in Ireland a net of 3 limes is 0.69c 🙈
Where can I get my hands on 60ml jiggers? They don't seem to exist up here in Sweden.
How to make simple syrup ... if u already share the recipe please share the link
Why are limes so expensive in Australia tho
Is there a difference to the Ivy Gimlet? :)
I'm glad I live in the southern US where a lime is only about 25 cents
Limes are $2.50?! EACH?! They’re €3.5 per kilo here in Belgium
Hi
Would this cocktail work with Bacardi instead of Finlandia? I only ask because I have lots of Bacardi to use up lol
That's pretty much a mojito 😜
This is cool 👍🙏
Goodness gracious that's a crazy price for limes
27p each for a lime in Scotland !!!🏴
I live in cicero illinois
Can you use gin in this instead of vodka?
After Covid, just travel to the US and smuggle a few suitcases full of limes back to Australia. 😁
Lime juice?
Sure you can swap limes for lemons. Limes are just lemons that aren't ripe yet.
I've been getting the odd bunch (reject) limes at the supermarket in Melbourne, is there a big difference to their taste?
I always smell the inside to be sure, but as long as you scrub the outside well it shouldn’t matter, albeit maybe less oils.
@@LemonMeIon thanks so much!
Nice
$2.50 PER lime!?!? I'm so lucky to get them 10 for 10 here in the states.
Even 10 for 10 is pricey. I bought a bag of 12 for like $4.99 at Kroger yesterday lol
$.50 each on west coast USA.
That 'hi everyone' at the beginning almost sounds like 'hi bro' to me.
Hi Steve, wink wink. I'm going to try this concoction
Damm that looks delicious.... Hi Steve 😘

And here I am, drinking a Ron and Tonic (sort of).
could you grow your own limes? surely the climate is right?
lifehack: most people won’t notice the difference between lemon and lime in a cocktail lol
I love living in Houston Texas USA. Limes are cheap.
🍸👌
I thought you were flirting with us, I didn't realize it was the name of the drink 😉
Same 😄
Nice :)
Those tiny limes are $2.50 each? Yikes. So expensive.
I live in Texas. 23 cents for a lime.
£2.50 per lime? You'd be cheaper getting someone to mail you them from Mexico, even with postage I'd bet it's cheaper!
You lot at the supermarket i work at we have limes for 1 dollar. When you buy 10 of them lmao. So literally 0.1 per lime. Lime lovers. Move to Sweden!
We don't tolerate shit mint leaves!
if only you had collected the seeds from your citrus when you started making videos here, you would have a jungle full of lime and lemon trees in your backyard(^^)
They take forever to grow fruits. That is why lemon or lime trees are really expensive if you want some that carry fruits.
£1.37 (equiv) for a single lime! Jesus Christ
Have you ever heard of a “See You Soon Satan”?
"that's a shit piece..." hahaha!
Man that’s a lot of squeezing energy for only 3/4 oz lime juice...
That's a s@#t piece 🤣
1st?
We have a winner!! 🎉🎉🎉
Nice
Uh oh, looks like Steve might be becoming another youtube bartender that starts relying too heavily on vodka for their drink videos
$2.50 for limes?? I can buy a whole bag of limes for about that much
