Happiness is a transitory emotion like anger or sadness. We have these as a result of stimuli. Who wants to stay in a state of anger? Emotions have a purpose as long as we are in a corporeal existance. It is far better to be content with what is, and if good things happen, embrace the happiness and joy as long as it lasts, but do not chase it and try to keep it happening indefinately. Happiness desired brings on more suffering. Sadly, we judge some emotions as bad, some as good. They are all valid and necessary. Just like thoughts that you do not attach to, they will pass and more will come along. It's like watching a play. Try not to identify with what is unfolding, just enjoy the show!
