Ugh we are JUST learning! Can you tell me the best breed of “meat only” chicken? Also, we will raise ducks my favorite thing on Earth seared and roasted, geese, quail and turkeys. Can you tell me the best duck breed for food? Also the best meat only rabbits. We won’t be eating any mammals other than these. Thank you for your help. It’s not easy at first and hard for my ♥️.
Hello! Thank you for watching! We have only raised Freedom Rangers and Cornish Cross. In Our experience, the Cornish Cross produce a bigger meat bird. Both breeds were raised to 12 weeks. The Freedom Rangers only grew to an average of 3lbs each. The Cornish Cross yielded about 5lbs average. We have not done any other kind of bird. We are currently raising sheep, and will share that when the time comes. This batch of chickens was only our third batch of meat birds. We’re not experts by any means, but some friends of ours taught us this method and it seemed to work pretty well so we thought we would share to help others wanting to raise meat chickens 🐓. It is a lot of hard work but a very satisfying feeling when you cook a bird that was raised and processed in your own back yard🥰! We wish you well on your journey! God Bless😇
