Chocolate, beer, fries, and diamonds. 🍫🍺🍟💎 What else comes to your mind when you think of Belgium? 🇧🇪 Perhaps the headquarters of international organizations like NATO or the European Commission? In this country, exceptional riders train for Working Equitation. 🎠 Among the best European competitors this year, we saw Virginie Dubus, who placed 4th, the left-handed Nadine Lambechts, and the Witcher-like Patrick Van Aken. ♥️♥️♥️
Of course, we cannot overlook the horses that carried them to represent their country across European arenas. 🎠 Two of them are Lusitanos: the bay Hero des Nawies and the grey Guapo da Saudade, alongside Florent, a Cruzado, ridden by Nadine.
My memory of Belgium takes me back to my childhood. When Poland was behind the Iron Curtain, and the only thing on the shelves in stores was vinegar, magic happened during Eastern or Christmas 🎄 My aunt and uncle were stationed in Belgium, and when they came back for the holidays, they brought various delicacies. 🧁I will never forget the chocolate eggs with delicious fillings, the sun-scented mandarins, and the almonds. 🤩Those were the most beautiful holidays for children because, on ordinary days, we didn’t eat chocolate-only chocolate-like substitutes. I can’t quite explain it, but back then, everything was “like” something but didn’t taste like the real thing.😜
And that is my memory of Belgian magic at the Christmas or Easter table.✨🦄
