The Lily's Garden app actually does have a story in the beginning, and the Lily girl does fall in love too, but it mainly just a puzzle game.
The backstory (this isn't from the ads, this is in the beginning of the game) is that Lily had a boyfriend who was kinda rude, so Lily wanted an escape from the city. Behold, either her grandma or grandpa die, and Lily gets a home in the country witch she has to repair.
Also, I have a theory on why people are so bad at the games in almost all mobile game ads.
My theory is that the people are so bad is that it will infuriate you and make you want to do better. Most of these ads blatantly show the correct response to make your brain say "That's the answer!" right before the person in the ad picks the incorrect option. Due to the competitive nature of people, you want to be better. If you already see the person in the ad failing, you will think "Hey! That person sucks at this, so other people must suck at this! I can do much, much better!".
