@@fontyyy funny you should say something along those lines...I am lefty. I'm not Phil Mickelson. And I am most definitely HIM with a wedge in my hands 😉 I've broken many a heart in a skins game with my 60 degree wedge 😅 Its disgusting to be frank. In the best way possible, It's diabolical. .But words are just words. And who would even watch if I did post videos 😂 But some random ppl are that good. And they're not pros. It drives my brother nuts how I can take weeks to months, or even years off and come back and just shoot mid to upper 80s after a long hiatus 🙃 This year, I'm actually trying to go twice a week. Last few years been hectic. New puppy. House projects etc..This year. . .Is MY year 😊 It's the best medicine getting back into golf consistently ❤❤ Total mood booster 😊😊 anyways, Your point is still valid. And just like everybody I have my strengths on the course and my weaknesses. But a wedge is something I get such pleasure from. It's always on. Always... Now because I posted this. I'm sure my next round I'll flub it 😂😂 Anyways, cheers! Have a great season 👍

One thing I will always defend about Rick, is that every video I've ever watched by him, he's never sold himself out. If he does poorly with a packaged set, he'll let us know. And I don't remember a single instance when I've had to mash the fast forward button because he's inserted a 30-45 second advert in the middle of his round.
One thing you can truly rely on Rick for is the ability to hit play and truly sit back and chill for the full duration of his round 👍

Suggestion: maybe get a general idea of how far the clubs will go before starting the round. Hit a few off your launch monitor.

Answer - not if you fly every green by 20 yards bc it's too much club.

Chipping and round the green even with something like Cleveland HB's which are all hollow takes practice, if you catch it right in the middle it pops off like you've swung 20% faster, if you catch it out of the bottom, it's just normal.

Hot take, I think above 15 handicaps should have hybrids up to the PW then a thick soled SW. Makes striking the ball and the game overall easier in my opinion. Plus the hybrid PW could be the main chipping club since it’s hard to fat, as well most people can’t and don’t need to hit high soft chips very often except in bunkers which is where the SW comes in.
It’s what I and several friends started with and we all went roughly from scoring 110-120 to low 90s in 2-3 months. Getting a ball in play and with good course management is more important so playing with something easy to hit is the way to go.
Love the videos like these Rick

Nice set o' clubs Rick and that was a cool round. Been using hybs for almost 2 years now, Full set 3-PW combined with cavity back wedges. I'll never touch another set of regular irons nor my other sets of blade wedges (gave'em away anyways, LOL). They're easier to hit from ANY turf, go longer, higher and flight straight. If needed there's no problem working the ball or hitting'em under the wind or trees. And yar right, they're lighter. I lov'em! Weird thing is I used to aim at the trees to get outta the woods, I mean, you gotta be so good to hit a tree aiming at it, most likely it would be a miss, but with hybrids it's different as you'll hit the darn tree not 2 outta 3, but 3 outta 2 every time! Gladly nowadays these guys keep me away from the woods LOL

I bought a full set of hybrids about 18 months ago. The Lazrus black and silver hybrids, 2-PW. I actually missed my irons. I am older mid 60’s and fairly new to golf.
I agree the wedges just don’t seem right as a hybrid, but getting used to them, I have added a gap hybrid by Adams to the set. Normally I gap them though, playing the odds or the evens with my driver. I like to carry a 7 & 9 iron in the bag, with a traditional PW.

After 2 years golfing, I finally decide to put my iron from 9 (130), P (120) and Gap (110) only and wedges 50, 56 & 60. The remaining clubs are hybrid 6-3 (cover from 140 onwards) and driver. My current hc is 14.4, hence it works well for me. My confidence from 140 is more with hybrids than iron.

I carry a Ping driver, 3,5,7 woods and 5,7 hybrids and then Wilson 7-SW launch pad irons. The Wilson’s are a semi hybrid. I also carry a Ping ChipR. It’s a good combination at my age (70). In my 20-40s I carried Ping 1-Sw irons. Couldn’t hit the 1-5 irons any more due to lack of clubhead speed. I’m a convert to hybrids at least for the longer irons. It makes for a more enjoyable game so why not use the tech and the newer Ping woods are great, especially my G430 Max driver which is the best I’ve ever had. Again probably couldn’t hit the woods I used to hit 30 years ago.

I bot a set of the Forgan of St. Andrews hybrids. But I actually got on well with the 7 to PW better than the 3 to 6, which did not go as long as my Cobra One Length irons. 🤔 By the way...would like to see you review the Caley irons, and the RAM irons, which are both less than half the price of the big name manufacturers

Back in 1977 I played a round with another fellow who had all wood clubs. His wedge was about 8 inches long due to the slope of the face and the bottom was curved to match the arc of of swing. Even his putter had a wood head.

I played with an older fella today using a full set of these hybrid irons. He had a bladed sand wedge in there in case he got into bunkers or wierd lies, but otherwise made great use out of them.
He wasn't swinging hard, but every single shot got in the air and went straight. He went round in about +8 or +9...
So totally usable, but you'd have to adapt to them.

I played with a set of lady's hybrids once, they were awsome, though they SW, GW and PW were normal irons with ladies graphite shafts, i loved the light whippy shafts, and i was hitting everything with a super high draw that would start off to the right of target and draw back as opposed to starting at the target and drawing off. And yes, it was a pleasure carrying a really light bag, she only had 11 clubs Putter, SW, GW, PW, 9,8,7,6 and 5 Hy, 5W and driver. It took no time to get used to them. Felt like i could have played 36 holes no bother.

I don't know about having hybrids in the scoring clubs, but there's a strong argument to be made that lots of high handicappers could improve their medium-game by replacing clubs up to 7 iron with hybrids. The problem may be overcoming the golf ego of having 4 or 5 hybrids in the bag!
I'm a 6 handicap with good clubhead speed, and 4 years ago I replaced my 4 and 5 irons with hybrids. I get teased about it from my golf buddies, but it's worth having a high, straight, boring ball flight from 190 yards out!

The driver-hybrid-hybrid was fun to watch. I'd never be able to pull hybrid for an eagle putt, as I've only had two, but it made for great content. I also think Rick would have gone under 75 on 18 after adjusting to how far the shorter hybrids were going.

Again, IDK how I would feel looking at this 3rd shot going up hill with out opening my stance and the face of a 56 or 60, depending on how it's sitting. If it were sunk into grass, maybe the hybrid would be more like a rescue club but with loft! I'm interested to see you get out of this one! Great content as always
