Carney's injury affected Poch's tactics a lot more than people realise. That's why I believe it's better to let Gallagher go rather than Carney. Cuz his skillset isn't 'needed' for Maresca's system unlike Carney who does what KDH does in the LHS and is good at it if not better in some aspect. Gallagher was influential under Poch because his skillset covered most of our flaws system-wise. I don't see him being the kind of 8 that'll be needed for most games except against really physical mid-block like Brentford, Crystal Palace, even forest (when they're confident). Having KDH and or Palmer in half spaces against high lines with be a treat. Enzo,Caicedo Lavia,KDH, Carney & probably Santos is insane squad depth rather than stockpiling considering they're all very different in terms of skillset. Max of 3 can start and maximum of 2 as subs per match, and with our injury record I don't expect them all to remain fit throughout the season, not to mention the amount of games & packed schedules.

Although Maresca is from the school of Pep, he idolises specifically the Pep’s Barca team with a few nods to his current style. i.e. Pep wants control now in possession but isn’t obsessed with it like he was at Barca. I think Maresca is more Tikki Takka than some think. More like the Spanish team in 2010 under Del Bosque. The question is can he achieve that at Chelsea. Total ball domination which means insane patience from players. Almost playing as if there are no goals.
I don’t think the so called Chelsea fans will stand for it unless it’s an absolute proven method with a 10 game winning streak. Almost like under Conte. The build up to this season is already gained so much interest from all corners of the footballing world. Do we have another Potter, do we have the next Alonso, or do we need to be patient like Arsenal fans weren’t under Arteta? Look at the best 2 mangers in recent history, Pep and Jurgen. Neither hit the ground running. It will be amazing should Maresca achieve it. Mourinho and Conte did it but also failed at other clubs.

Im just wondering how can Maresca get both Dewsbury-Hall and Cole Palmer to those half space positions. If you play with the midfield three of Palmer, Dewsbury Hall and Enzo, it’s nowhere near strong enough defensively. Then again if you swap Enzo with Caicedo, you lose your deep lying playmaker. Maybe Lavia could be a hybrid of those two, but Maresca ain’t benching both of his 100 midfielderds. So the only way to get the both into the Half spaces would be playing Gusto/Reece James in that right flank during the attacking phase with Enzo and Caicedo as the midfielders. But then again, are neither of those RB’s good on one-on-one’s. And Gusto is bad in front of goal. Reece as a goal threat could actually work, but the problem is the physical demand of the position knowing his injury record. So to me it seems that playing both Dewsbury-Hall and Palmer in half spaces would create more problems than solutions (even though Reece James as a RW in the attacking phase is a fascinating idea). I think the safest option (and propably the most likely too) is Palmer on the right with Caicedo and Dewsbury-Hall occupying the half spaces.

Or just not play both Palmer and Dewsbury Hall at the same time.

      Palmer winger , hall midfield
Enzo deep, Mose up, recce James or Malo deep in midfield,do u understand now ND players will change positions each match, that is how pep ball changes.

@@SteveStephen-v7d That’s the conclusion I had in the end:) But seriously I’m worried about Gusto’s ability to play in the midfield, since he is more of a wide player. If you play Gusto in midfield, you waste his biggest asset, crossing. To me Gusto is more of a wide player and not necessarily the most optimal option as an inverted fullback.

Carney Chukwuemeka does what Hall is brought in to do even better. If he's fit, this season, it's going to be magical.

Now stop Hyping Carney. We know he's Good But not as Dewsbury Hall and Also He can't Stay fit and we can't be Banking on a Player who is Injury Prone.

Meresca can easily use parma and hall to occupy the two half spaces by used James or gusto to attack the right wing so parma can always invert to occupy our right half while hall will occupy the left half space the cucurela will play more defensive as a back three so Enzo an caicedo or lavia can be the to pivot receiving the ball
