I’m playing a halfling paladin that rides a swan and wields a lance, he’s completely up himself and has the noble background. Despite his delusions of grandeur he’s quite a lowly insignificant lord. I got the seraph transformation so I chose little Cupid style angel wings that make him more like a humming bird.

I would request you do a deep dive into the optional game mechanics that Grim Hallows introduces.

An interesting idea for the seraph transformation would be instead of just turning into a humanoid with a bunch of bird wings it would be interesting if it resembled more like a biblically accurate where it's heavenly but it's disturbing:
Eyeballs start to grow from your skin, floating orbs and spheres start to surround your body, and maybe even start to grow extra limbs?
(Of course the last part really does not have any actual game mechanic to it it's just more for flavor and narrative perspective)
I haven't played it Seraph transformation yet, I am playing as a Dhampyr turning into a full-blooded vampire right now!

For the Vampire, does the drawback mean you can't use health potions to regain hit points?

    • @bochosbrother

I would say so, holy healing, and potions would do damage. As a DM you could say 2d4 healing from a vial of blood "potion".

@@bochosbrother Only way I could see around this would to play a class with spells that heal. Maybe take Artificer Initiate with Cure Wounds or play a wizard with Vampiric Touch.

I would use the saraph one to remake one of my favorit digimon evolution lines for angemon -> seraphimon.

A little bit late on this video but when I was going over the vampire transformation it doesn’t really say anything of what happens if your character dies normally the vampires killed they turned a mess go back to their coffin would that be like the same type of thing for the player character but just like the other transformations be under the DM‘s control afterward?

I haven't had anyone go through the transformation to Vampire yet in my campaign, but as a DM I'd say in stages 1 and 2, you can die as normal. In stages 3 and 4, you regenerate slowly over time, maybe months, even years depending on the amount of damage.
To be killed entirely I'd say wooden stake to the chest is a must for stages 3 and 4. Also high susceptibility to sunlight, bursting to flames high hit point reduction per round in the sun, and double that for stage 4. Turning to ash and permadeath if killed by natural sunlight.
I'd make a special unique armor which would be very expensive and hard to find, which could cover the entire body to block out sunlight (ala Castlevania season 4)
What else,... holy water doused weapons double damage, disadvantage when show crucifix, or within 5ft of garlic,.. and so on.
And it's hard to remember, but they must ask permission to come into someones home.
      Not inns and taverns though...

That makes no sense. Are they trying to say that Oz (BtVS), and David (AWiL) are that strong? In the legends everyone can become a Werewolf if bitten, the creature has the strength, not person.

It's the dumbest rule ever that when turned you have to have your sheet over to the DM. I never run my games like that. I always explain to my player what is happening and let them run their character as they see fit according to the description I give them. I do not take my players sheets. Dumbest rule ever
