    He gives serious thought into everything he does, works hard, and is very open with how he feels. Maybe his sense of responsibility is his identity.

    Being Mad Maggie and the 0 friends in Apex tournaments is one thing, and a very flashy, talented, and passionate dancer as another, not to mention his 'let's effing go!'. But recently, I found him very deep, reflective, honest and open about issues and concerns in many aspects of his life. To me, I don't think it's changing his identity, but adding more and more upon his identity, what makes him Astel Leda. As other say, he cares for his work, admist his cheeky and funny voice.

    I understand it fr. I think its because most of his famous titles (ex. Mad Maggie) are tied to games. Him being good in FPS is dependent on the game's relevancy (like Apex) and that can be quite fickle. Astel's persona changes a lot, so previous nicknames like PBB or Jubutsu can die out as his persona evolves.
    But I think one thing that people can agree upon is that Astel is a jack of all trades. Like someone who is good at everything, even if he's not a pro at it. Especially when it comes to singing/dancing, everyone has very high expectations for Astel. He's like the king of performances in holostars. That's why we all get hyped whenever we see him in 3D.
    And other than idol stuff, Astel still has the identity of being a kusogaki or a lighthearted troublemaker or as a teasing senpai. Like when he killed Temma in Ollie's arcade, most people reacted "ah of course its Astel". Or when Astel received T-nga products, we're like "Astel you madlad! But ofc it would be him!"
    I think Astel doesn't realize that he's quite well known for him just BEING himself. It's just a shame that we don't have a nickname for Astel being "Astel" so he might think his character is "nothing"

    Astel's extrovert trait is really stand out, talking a lot, moving a lot, doing a lot. Maybe that's his identity. Someone who do a lot? Jack of all trade, if you may say it.

    I really can’t help but believe he’s overthinking it. Astel is “Passion.”
    He dedicates everything he has to anything he sets his sights on. Astel is creative, a skilled performer, and in touch with his emotions. I wonder if he currently feels directionless because nothing has piqued his interest. While I only witness his abilities from the sideline, I truly do respect Astel’s intense soul.
    Give the man a role to play and he will own the stage.

    This pondering feels a lot more vivid with the way VTubing works. Even a bunch of us in the community wonder what the point of stuff like lore is, but at the same time, we people have a tendency to treat others like characters rather than who they really are, and thoughts like that lead me to appreciating VTubing as something more than the next hot thing.
    As for what I see Astel as, his reputation as a Cursed Thing and his skill as a Mad Maggie madman are just a few aspects of him to me, and I see them as neither his defining nor most prominent aspects. His defining and most prominent aspect to me, meanwhile, is how he goes the extra mile in doing what he loves, which I assume is performance, and making sure that those he cares for would see what he does like he does even on the fly. I mean, just glimpses into the work he puts into stuff like 3D livestreams got me feeling that so much. It even shows when he does things in collaboration, something I realized especially with the help of comments from his fellow Stars and the Starmin about his work in the latest holoPro Countdown Live. And then there's how he makes his karaoke streams feel like free concerts, and if that's him at low power, then man, I think we should call him an alien king and just let him style on the multiverse if he ever feels like doing that.

    this is why he became my oshi though. to me, astel is a very hard worker (to the point of perfectionism which can be both good/bad) and a thinker who is constantly assessing his work, what he's working towards, etc. for me, its what makes him relatable. i think jack of all trades is what fits astel the best, which in terms of being a clearly branded, identifiable trait, is what possibly makes finding his "identity" difficult for him. based off what he's saying, he isn't someone who likes to stay rigid. of course, all this is parasocial conjecture so i never want to assume anything 😅 but i think he kind of answered his own question without realizing it. thank you for the clip!! ❤

    For me Astel is the funny, sometimes kusogaki guy, who's great at singing and fps. And while his endless drill and jubutsu arc where quite funny, I liked him before that and still do.

    It's true that 'idol' isn't really an identity trait, but I think that the things that go into it are. It's a job that takes a passionate, hardworking, creative spirit. Astel has all of that in spades, plus the unique factors of his personality that set him apart from his fellow idols. I'm talking about his mischievousness, sense of style, way of communicating, wide skill set, and surprising caretaker streak.
    I don't have a label or succinct description for it, but he absolutely has a recognizable identity outside of his "characters".

  • @Chaos2Frozen
    @Chaos2Frozen Месяц назад +16

    I always have to think extra hard to grasp what Astel means exactly, he has a very roundabout way of explaining his logic and reasoning.
    Given the examples he brought up, 'Identity' in this case probably refers to natural abilities and not a 'role' or 'skill' like 'jubutsu' or 'being good at fps'. If we narrow it down to specifically about voices then I would say his natural vocal identity might be "Soft, Sweet, Sensual".

    • @Kai0711
      @Kai0711 Месяц назад +3

      I think the reason why he expressed it in such a roundabout way is because the haters always catch him being negative and attack him (as that jp comment in his karaoke archive yesterday)
      But I like that he always thinks about what he lacks. Although it can be said that he is negative and has no self-confidence, I think this is also a sign that he does not stick to the status quo.
      I'm a very half-hearted person, but his constant innovation makes me interested in continuing to follow him and even become a fan.

    • @1UwU3
      @1UwU3 Месяц назад

      @@Kai0711Negativity is also a disadvantage because Astel is like that, making haters think he's weak and find cavil with his words. Astel should have more respect for himself, that would be great.

      @@Kai0711 I just think it's his unique thought process- like when he told Tamaki "Idols are Jubutsu", he starts with a wild statement/analogy and work his way around back to it :D And if we choose to believe his words, he's always said that he was never bothered by Haters.

    It's really surprising to hear Astel saying that he hates his voice and the way he speaks when, in fact, it's because of those traits of his that he became my oshi in holostars. But I do get how normally people tend to hate hearing their own voice or have no confidence in their voice, because I'm the same too. To me, Astel is a person with a great voice, entertainingly funny, a kind person who always does his best. Although he worries about what identity he has or what he wants to have, I think his fans, friends and colleagues like him precisely because of the unique qualities that they see in him so I hope he won't worry too much about it.

    Lately, it’s sad to see how many vtubers choose a specific popular image for themselves (Fool, horny, reddit-shitposter child, etc.) and are satisfied with everything

    Personally, I think the legend of the curse and Mad maggie is over Except waiting for the opportunity to create new content saw that he wanted to gameplay something new, but he didn't dare to try playing it. I really don't understand him at all.
    If creating external collab content Astel should collab with games other than FPS as well as like Aruran.
    I see that Astel has a disadvantage in that he takes his work too seriously, cares too much about others, and doesn't love himself. Although I can't support him like I used to, I wish Astel good luck.

    Astel is such an amazing singer and dancer, heck even senpai.
    He's such a great guy, man. I'll always see him as Astel Leda. Sure he has other titles (like mad maggie) but he worked hard to get here as a vtuber, the stars may not get as much attention as the girls but my man Astel is a very passionate person. I don't think he needs to change his voice, he doesn't need to change anything. He's great the way he is. I love the dude's personality. I'm not being biased or anything, I'm just saying how I see him.
