Too bad this won't be released but this is great. Nice work Cary! What is the name of the RC and what type of modifications did you do or can you detail that if possible? Thanks!
Hello, I really enjoyed watching your amazing robot video! Seeing your incredible robot makes me want to become someone who builds cool robots like you. Could you explain how the robot in the video works? I'm currently studying at a university in South Korea, and I aspire to become a person who builds robots.
This is so cool! Years ago I made a weight-shift RC ball with a hamster ball and I've been wanting to make a larger ball for a long time. I've been researching drives and shells. I like this idea. Mine would be simpler as I have no need for the head control, just steering and drive. What are the blue rings for? Thanks, Nick
I like to know is the Military interested in this. If this can be used for reconnaissance. Can this go over all types of terrains? Also can a gun can be mounted on top of it?
Love it! I have almost finished my joes drive ,but yours look much much cleaner... I suppouse you have some parts you produce by yourself, true? Can I see some list to look at the budget I need for my next bb8? Thanks!,
Hi Cary, I am a member of the BB8 builders club forum and wanted to download your V1 drive system files but it appears they are only available on your facebook group. I don't have a facebook account. Are the files available on another site like dropbox or anything? Thanks!
The first step is to buy the metal kit, this gives you access to the Facebook page. Becoming a member of Facebook would be necessary as there is a lot of discussion and people on the group that can help you with the build.
@@CaryChristieII Thanks for the reply. I would love to buy the metal kit and I have no doubt about the vast amount information and help that gets exchanged on the facebook group but unfortunately i won't get a facebook account even for that. I appreciate the response!
That spin on the spot is wicked fast ! cant wait to have RC remote style operation for the V1!
It works really well.
Thanks for all the work you have put into bb8. I'm currently printing your thin panels to go on your v1 skeleton.
Awesome, have fun in your build, that's what it's all about
This is actually pretty advance, engineer it to perform great and efficient. Using the battery weight to your benefit. Amazing.
Thanks!
The forward and back motors actually sound a lot like the R2-D2 rolling motor SFX from the first movie.
The fast spin almost had my heart drop. I got nervous lol
Me too! Always afraid it will spin off the desk.
This is great! Are there plans to have the V3 released to the club?
No, this will not be released. The V1 drive works great, I would rather dedicate my time to other projects for BB-8 and BB-9e.

I would like to buy such a bb8, is it possible?

Thank you!
The Blue rings are slip rings, they transfer power from the drive to the ball for lights, sound, and charging.
@@CaryChristieII Thanks! I figured that out after I messaged you and saw the plugs at the axle mounts!

Do you have a video that shows how you made your motor engine? And if you don't have a video would you be able to make one.?
I don't plan on making videos for the internals of the V3
