The more times stuff like this happens the more I consider spirit blossom to be a mistake. And like, spirit blossom was an truly phenomenal event, even if I am not really in the demographic for people it was targeted for, I still enjoyed it. But every event after has been trying to copy what spirit blossom did, instead of trying to do its own thing.
I unironically thought we'd get Star Guardian reskin for Aram because it just seems like a perfect thing to do. If Riot doesn't want to invest time and money into reskinning SR or make a new game mode, Aram should be their go-to for events Think about how SG Aram map would look like: - one side is Star Guardian themed, the other one is Star Nemesis themed (turrets, minions, inhibs and nexuses) - whenever one of the two sides claim an objective Aram transitions slowly into one theme (SG side destroys a turret, SG theme takes over SN around that destroyed turret and vice versa) -two announcers, one for each side. Whenever an objective is claimed or enemy killed you'd hear specific lines: "Nemesis/guardian has been slain/ is on killing spree/ double, tripple, quadra and pentakill", "Nemesis/guardian turret/inhib has been destroyed" - you could even bring pink crowns, just add purple/black ones for nemesis side This is just an example of what could've been. Maybe what I'm suggesting is too complex to make but still, just a reskin with a new announcer would've been great
This would be good, but let's not forget the spaghetti code the game is currently running on. I'm assuming small tweaks would require more than imaginable work hours just for it to fit.
Legitimately very disappointed in this event. I feel like Akali and Kai'sa's story got absolutely shafted on as well. Xayah and Rakan's story on WR, being one of the most important pieces of lore for Star Guardians surviving death and coming back from corruption, LoR getting Jinx leading her own team through space with Gwen, hell even in their OWN story they're completely overshadowed completely by Zoe, Syndra, Fiddle and the secret ending. Then you have all of the OTHER new Guardians who get zilch from the majority of the event aside from just having a skin. I have wanted a PVE Star Guardian mode ever since the og back in the day, and was super disappointed that we didn't get it. Even just a rerun of the old one with new characters added would have been nice, but we didn't even get that. So disappointing 😞
yeah, Syndra, Zoe and fiddles story is probably the best part of this event. like they made zoe sympathetic and understand with this event. Thats not to say I dislike Akali and Kaisa, infact this event has made me want to play those champs with those skins. but yeah, it is criminal that xayah and rakans story was placed in WR.
@@MisotheScot It really is, as a main of both of those characters, I'm do upset that we didn't get their story or the redeemed skins on League PC. I also think the event really should've focused more on Kai'sa and Akali. Maybe show Akali's home life with her abusive mother to really drive home how dependent she is on her relationship with Kai'sa, or focus harder on her fear of death and make it push her further from the group. Maybe give the supporting cast something to actually do, instead of just existing for skin sales.
I was really excited when I heard SG Event is coming. I'm Xayah and MF main, I only played with SG skins for more then a year cause I really hyped those. I love the Lore behind it. And then both of my mains where pushed into WR, Ahri also gone, Neeko wasn't even mentioned, sacrificed in the progress of forcing the old Lore onto WR while PC got the new team. A team which didn't even made sense. Why were they 8? Different gem shapes? The color's didn't fitted their personalities anymore? akali, who could have been a real badass turned into this... well, baby guardian. They needed 10 SG's + Xayah and Rakan to defeat Zoe, while Lux' team was raaather new (but at least had some expierience) Ahri and Sarah knew exactly what they were doing, being SG for so long already. And they barely managed to defeat Zoe, Rakan sacrificing himself in the process. Morg, who was suppossed to be ways ways stronger and more dangerous then Zoe lost against a bunch of Baby Guardians who never faced a real battle in their life? Fiddle died just as fast. How can they just defeat Morg but stronger Guardians almost lose against Zoe, who's said to be weaker? It feels like Rakan was a bigger and stronger villain then Morg and Fiddle combined. It feels like riot don't know how to write a proper villain
@@SarahMK1990 It kinda feels like the story of Zoe and Rakan's death, and the stories of the Visual Novel's were written by different people. With retconning for both of them being alive almost immediately, and the quality difference between the stories. They were just back with no real explanation at all. If you weren't Akali or Kai'sa from the new group, you might as well not have existed. The oversaturation of the skin line just really hurt to see, especially cause most members did nothing to flesh the story out. Quinn and Rell were the BIGGEST afterthought to this event, Ekko and Sona had some cute moments but that was it, and I kinda wish we got sessions Taliyah as a skin rather than sg (even though I like sg too). And after seeing the struggles of Ahri, MF, Xayah and Rakan, Akali's 'temptation' to corruption made zero sense in the context of the novel. Morgana and Fiddle really got screwed over too, they could've been legitimate threats in this universe along the likes of Zoe, but don't even compare to her in the slightest and were taken out almost immediately. Never once do the new Star guardians feel like a team, just like they're there to fill numbers for Akali and Kai'sa's story, which unfortunately isn't good. And once again, no redeemed Xayah Rakan on PC makes me so sad :(
@@101shaymin The gamemode had less than 3% of the hours played when it was live which is nothing. Most players just want to play SR and SR based gamemodes while the whales play ARAM.
@@smashrosa8111 omg we all didn't know that. 🙄 Still doesn't negate the point of releasing the game again to see if results changed. Their events will fall in "stats" if they don't release new modes or reskins to a map 🗣️
@@smashrosa8111 you can see at those stats and take 2 paths, improve it so more people try it, and pull a community that enjoys pve over pvp game play with time (just like legends of runaterra did), the other path is stop trying at all and keep making overhyped events where the only thing to do is doing uninteresting nothing missions, another pass to buy, a bunch of skins and a skip all text Novel.
@@mlinxl9090 SG Kai'sa has voicelines to Dark Star skins for some reason. And the epilogue in the VN talks about the Dark Star, so there's our next event. They better not fucking ruin the Odyssey/Dark Star universe.
Necrit is literally the savior of events for me, I don't have time to read the novels, cuz my friends always drag me into games. So the lore vids and stuff really help, thank you Lore Man for savings these weird events.
what I do is I just boot up league while my friends aren't around and read the events then. basically treating it like reading a book in my free time. it's not a perfect solution but it's better than nothing.
No, it just ended there aswell, i mean nothing came from there on, a very generic story with all parts u whould care about skipped. give us a nice animated fight as payoff for the teasers... or literally ANY payoff at all, what did they tease ?
Huge story on universe before the event, perfectly setting up how akali and kai'sa are childhood friends, ends with a look at how akali is scared of losing her friend because star guardians are sacrificial. Calling them the twin stars as if they're sisterlike, giving into the idea that akali is angry that kai'sa is sacrificing herself to save people. Then the event starts. What changes since the universe story? At the opening of the event akali is mad at kai'sa for being distant, in act 2 akali is mad at kai'sa for being distant, in act 3 akali is mad at kai'sa for being distant, in act 4 akali betrays kai'sa, but then she doesn't, but then she does, but then she doesn't, they kill morgana in 6 seconds. Looking at it from kai'sas pov At the opening event "man I should really be there for akali, she seems upset" then doesn't do it. Act 2 "man I should really be there for akali, she seems upset" then doesn't do it. Act 3 "man I should really be there for akali, she seems upset" then doesnt do it. Act 4 they kill morgana after akali's 5 plot twists in 10 seconds. Literally over half of this event was little to nothing changing about the main story until it all gets rushed together in the last 2 chapters
maybe some of the budget also went to physical events, riot games rented a big cafe here in the Philippines and turned it into a Star Guardian Academy which really offered small courses that you can enroll in! it was so fun and everything is so detailed and star guardian themed! cosplayers are everywhere and the academy is also full of people and staff while catering free drinks in an actual bar with star guardian drinks!
Excluding the PvE, as a lore enjoyer, cinematics didn't feel good enough for me this year, imo It would've been way better if they animated the final battle in the Twin Stars story like how they did for Light and Shadow, these music video kinda formats don't do much for me, just have a catchy song. The approach for Wild Rift was way better, and those were just shorts but they added a lot more to the characters.
Honestly they were pretty damn good to me. But then again I have HUGE bias as an Akali main and having her in an entire cinematic all her own so, idk, they were pretty nice though.
It's probably because they don't want to show how the story goes, they want you to get interested in it so that then you'll be compelled to play the game and see the story yourself. Not my cup of tea either tho. Ngl Riot is very dumb if they think that even half of their community can read for more than 10 seconds without losing patience haha. Jokes aside, yeah, it sucks, it's obvious how money hungry Riot is. Every company at the start gives you their best until they realise they can make money without putting that much effort, examples such as Game Freak, Sega etc... Sigh ...
I remember starting League a few years back, around autumn, and when winter came around I was so surprised to see the winter map with the game mode with the snowballs it was amazing. I miss the winter map :(
The voice acted parts were just their in game lines. That's it. Also, as someone who has been a PvE enjoyer since the first Star Guardian event, I'm so annoyed they didn't bring it back. It would have been the perfect time. Bring back the PvE event after however many years hiatus with the skin line that gave it to us first.
They wont bring it back because it doesn't make them any money, even if the entire fanbase begs for it. They don't care about their playerbase, only about profits. That's the purpose of companies
I created my acc in 2019 after the 10yr anniversary. I missed all the cool events people always talk about and my experience with the game events has always been the visual novels. My point with this is that the vast mayority of the player base is new and doesn't know of those game modes, as such we can't ask for what we don't know about, to be honest it's a genius plan, fill the game with new players and feed them nothing in time that's what they'll get used to and you can keep milking money from a subpar experience. I doubt there's anyone new or old that agrees with the current state of the game, sure as a game it's still playable-ish when you look a little into it you discover the issues it's hard to reccoment this to anyone.
I wanted at least a map, something that made it feel like an event, playing Spellbook on the Rift just feels like any other event, just changing the map does a lot to make an event feel special
YES FINALLY SOMEONE (Necrit) SAID IT. I am mourning WINTER RIFT for the past 3 years. I remember the good old days when you had both harrowing and normal summoners rift in rotation all year round! Saying that making winter rift skin is not viable cuz of dragons is such a cop-out bull** Its a skin you can use for a MONTH every year. It actually adds to the gameplay experience. As a matter of fact you already have the skin ready, all you have to do is paint a bit of extra terrain for ocean mountain and infernal, wind doesn't change the terrain at all and hexgates are just gates, not to mention chemtech when it comes out which also wont require any work on the map. also butchers' bridge should have been there every summer LITERALLY NO REASON NOT TO. I do not understand wtf is riot thinking by not doing such a simple thing. they used to do it on a regular basis now all of a sudden its a resource heavy investment. sod off
I agree, if Riot wants to keep using visual novels as a method of storytelling, for the love of god they need to make it an ACTUAL visual novel. Like, an independently produced one, unshackled from the god damn client. No grinding, multiple paths depending on your choices with a single true canon ending, an actual god damn budget. Put it on Steam or whatever and charge people to buy it.
Riot should either puting on a different website like they did for the RiotXArcar or they shouldn't do VN and simply make normal stories like they did to introduce Kaisa akali and the end of Zoe. They should stop making more VN since half the playets will probably not even understand it.
My two biggest issues about the event as a whole were that it was severely underwhelming compared to the hype train it built up, and that they had WAY too much content crammed into this one battle pass. Return to Valoran City should've meant RETURNING TO THE PVE MODE. That teaser title was the PERFECT set up for it!! A visual novel does not mean we are returning anywhere, it just means they have an excuse to write whatever they want and slap "Valoran City" on top of it. They used a nostalgic name to rile people up and then delivered zero nostalgia. How is Ultimate Spellbook supposed to be nostalgic if we've been getting it for months without any events tied to it??? Hell, I would've taken that one PROJECT event again! And I'm not even certain that event was real - no one talks about it anymore and it felt like a fever dream to begin with. As for the overpacked battle pass, with 16 skins, it was INSANE to even attempt to get all of the chromas, and not have to pay for the skin borders in the meantime. Chromas and borders that will not be coming back!! And to even get a portion of the chromas/borders with tokens, you totally forfeit getting one of the TWO prestige skins. On TOP of getting extra stuff for Syndra, a skin that's been out for years, just to add to the FOMO potential. I was overwhelmed and burnt out by week 2. If they had done a quarter of the skin and battle pass content, I could've actually played and felt satisifed with what I got. But no, instead I'm left here feeling spent and questioning why I cared so much to begin with. When the first teasers and music dropped, I cried out of joy and excitement for my favorite skin line and events to come back. Now, they still make me cry (partially because that orchestral theme is just SO GOOD and it was not applied very well throughout the event imho), but now I cry because of the missed potential and the longing for something that will never be.
Yeah I sacrificed everything else the tokens could unlock to get prestige Syndra which means I missed out on quite a lot. Pretty annoying because you really have no choice, you have to pick one or two things and end it there
Personally, the funniest time I've ever had with a game mode in LoL is when a bug permitted to players to lock the 10 same champions on custom games. That bug was quickly corrected and inspired the "one for all" mode, which was waaayy less funny because Riot doesn't want their game to be "too much fun" for player's retention
Man, you know what was the most painful thing about the even in Wild Rift? I got a mission on the event pass that asked me to accumulate 8000 minions killed with my team. This took me 4 days to finish, and I was playing 7-8 games daily.
I barely got passed the Guardian Duty fucking ONE missions and I was playing SO MUCH. Pissed me off because I barely got tokens because of it and didn't get to unlock what I wanted without buying more. A joke of an event pass imo.
Honestly the thing that kills me is when they talk about the first ever team - Akshan is in it. Literally why? He's never mentioned before and you have Janna RIGHT THERE Already established as an older guardian, implied to have major beef with Syndra, and purple themed. Literally why sideline her for another champion that's never been affiliated with the skinline or the stories ever before. Getting real sick of having lore events written by people who are obviously coming into them blind
This was my last straw with the story srsly, I was afraid they would pull out something like that when Gwen was revealed for LoR but I hoped it wasn't the case and then Akshan was mentioned and I lost all hope, now I'm afraid they will 100% try to tie the shitshow that Ruination was to SG making Viego an enemy there too just for the sake of pimping one of the biggest failure in Riot's history ffs.
Because they're gonna shove akshan into every story so they can revive whoever dies, therefore making the story less impactful and uninteresting :D. Every event is gonna be, someone died? Oh no anyways
The comics on Wild Rift alone were better than the entire league pc event for me, they really made you connect with the characters and the vlogs were so good for that too. The progress on the pass was absolute hell though, that turret mission was nearly impossible and after 2 weeks of playing every day i could only unlock the first tier of missions ;-;
Odyssey pve was so much fun and so challenging! The first ever ultimate summoner icon comes from the hardest challange from that mode and you bet I have it! That being said, I think the reason Oddysey pve was a flop when it comes to people playing it is because it skipped pbe. It wasn't tested and came in with a ton of bugs to a point it was unplayable for the first 2-3 days due to insane amount of bugs and glitches and I think that's what made a lot of people back off from even trying after it was fixed.
Nah, most of my buddies are the core fanbase, ranked andys that buy skins, they played it once and said, "ok, ranked now?" Yesterday one of them was like "oh the star guardian missions only started yesterday? Theyre so weak just play a game, good, theyre fast ahahahah" and i had to explain that the event was 4 weeks old and he just didnt notice the tab
My only bias opinion of this event is that my favorite champ got a legendary. Never cared about SG before and decided since it was probably the only big visual novel event akali will ever get, I'll give reading through it a shot. The only takeaway I like from the event was her skin, I think most akali players in general liked her skin. The mid event video they did for her was cool too. I literally hated just about everything else. You could erase the first 3 chapters of the visual novel and nothing would change from the story. The only time throughout the whole story that something progressed was when akali changed sides 5 times in one chapter. It felt so rushed in story telling, I hated kai'sa by the end of the story, the team never felt like a team once throughout the story despite that being the entire point of the events theme. The event was glitched for over a week, which would have felt worse had I actually cared by that point in the story. Now when I see them post the event overview with all the music and stuff I just get jealous because I'm reminded of how much better things should have been for this event. If all of the resources were put into the novel then why did it feel like it never got anywhere? Why is there no new game mode? Why did the entirety of akali's potential downfall happen in 2 chapters? Why did the writing feel so.....bad? Why continue to trust in your client when it ruins your big event? What happened to best friends forever? At the very least the art was cool and there was an ok skin here and there.
It would be nice to see them release a PVE permanent game mode similar to odyssey in gameplay that they update every once in a while or give it a Rogue-like/Rouge-lite feel to make it replayable. Give the casual audience something idk man but I've always missed PVE
That's never, ever going to happen because the vast, vast majority of League players don't give a shit about PvE (which shows from people immediately dropping the mode both times Riot tried it, it almost entirely died off in just 3 days). They're making a Diablo-esque standalone game anyway, so if you want League PvE that's where it's gonna be (once the game is released).
@@rainix3098 People keep saying this, but that's simply not true. Replayability wasn't the issue, as most players either played it once or twice and then stopped or didn't even touch it at all. If Riot has to update the mode with brand new content every single day for people to be interested, it's not gonna work. League gets updates every other week, PvE didn't even last 1/4th of a patch cycle. I loved the PvE and played it a ton, but I'm not trying to fool myself. PvE was INSANELY unpopular with League players. The issue is that League players play League to play League. When they launch League, they don't want to play Diablo or Bloons Tower Defence. That's why all the modes that deviate from the main League gameplay are super unpopular. The most popular modes are the ones that take the regular League gameplay and add a little spice, like URF making everything faster or Ultimate Spellbook giving you a second ultimate.
@@leetri People dropped the PvE game mode because they would grind out what they wanted to do for the first few tries. See what the event had to offer, then never launched it again. Re-playability is definitely a part of that. Odyssey had far more re-playability in it than the original SG:Invasion game mode did. And from that graph we see that Odyssey performed generally twice as good as the SG:Invasion. This was likely because of the augments and re-playability you had from unlocking different types of play styles. Because of Legends of Runeterra's, albeit it's a very different style of game, Path of Champions game mode, we see that PvE can succeed in these style of game. In PoC, you got to incrementally increase your champion and deck's level while adding new cards and new augments to your existing cards as well as new powers that follow you through your run. This promotes the re-playability in the game. Something like this also worked well because it was single player, but I'm positive that's not the only reason as the community was using stats to "play together" by switching in and out of each of their runs or competing for the best scores in a specific field. If Riot put more effort into releasing 1 big game mode that's purely PvE with many options to choose from, augments, team compositions, and had a story that it follows like PoC. They could reasonably keep it around for months before needing to revisit it with more variety and changes. This would be a massive undertaking from Riot but given the amount of resources they have, they should be able to do it, given it's planned out properly. I don't have solutions, but PvE does have a place in LoL. Additionally, even if Riot didn't want to go the extra mile to add in PvE because it doesn't perform well and falls off once people have seen what they want to see then quit, they should still incorporate the game mode. No it isn't sustainable for the game, but it's memorable. PvE is the reason events like Star Guardian 2017 and Odyssey were some of the best events in league history. It felt novel and exciting, it was a temporary new game, and that kept the event remembered fondly. It may be sustainable in the short term. but for long term, it helps the game feel different and fresh. The game suffers so much from feeling stale lately because there hasn't been anything like this since 2018.
@@leetri replayability is a very huge part of the issue. Odyssey event was better because it's gamemode had the augments and more differences between games. Look at dota's aghanim's labyrinth, it was a rougelite, d&d inspired gamemode that had: random generation, random enemy spawns, random upgrades between stages, upgrades between games, a ton of characters to choose from and many more. It was a success. when i tried to play it (for reference i haven't touched this game in about 7 years) i had a lot of fun with friends, and it haven't bored me any bit, queue times were very quick (especially considering my difficulty was the least popular) and the only thing i had a problem was that this gamemode was in dota, with dota mechanics and feel which are my least liked among the MOBA's, but even despite that, it was fun, had replayability and was popular. Lol's community didn't play pve modes modes because it was easy and quick to check everything what they had in offer, players had no motivation to play them after seeing EVERYTHING, because after void herald in SS:invasion what you had more? try different champs? there were only 5, so average player had about 7-8 games until experience completely repeated itself also on another note dark star thresh smash bros gamemode was the best pvp one, don't change my mind
I'm sorry but I don't feel the event was "fine" even taking into account the complexity of it. The overall story was good but the Visual Novel was horribily written (not even mentioning the insulting rewards of 450 blue essence for completing it. I gained more BE by grinding to complete the story and selling the champ shards obtained from lvl up capsules, srsly, that was a complete joke and I can't believe no one is talking about that) the Pc team felt 100% useless and I finished the event wondering why we even had Ekko, Sona, Rell, Quinn and Taliyah in the roster when everything was just about Kai'Sa and Akali. Nilah felt ok, she was kinda well written into the story and explained some things only a seasoned and trained SG would know and comprehend, but tbh the story they wrote for WR was WAY better and felt more like a natural continuation of the SG lore. Xayah being saved, forming her new team and finally being able to rescue Rakan was amazing, expecially when backed up by the v-logs and the comic that really made Sera, Senna and Orianna feel like they belonged there. They should've just went with that direction for pc too, teasing Kai'Sa and Akali as the next generation of SG with that first story when they witnessed Zoe's distruction and with the last scene where they approach Xayah 6 months later telling her they are the new SG now. Would've hyped them and their new team a lot more and they could've used more time to write a better arc for both of them. Gameplay wise, none of it felt even remotely SG related. And I can't believe you didn't mention in the grind section that even by paying you couldn't possibly be able to unlock the full content of the pass. That to me is the WORST thing they could've done. And they did it. I can excuse the lack of PvE, I can excuse reusing US and not even trying to change it to make it feel like it belonged to a new event, I can excuse a huge, boring grind to unlock a VN which was poorly written and I can excuse skins that feel like they didn't need to exist in the first place, just to be underwhelming after they're released, but I CANNOT EXCUSE being unable to unlock something behind a PAYWALL. I had a lot of time to grind the event and I ended up with something like 2600 coins and it still was 1/6 (ONE SIXTH) of the amount I would've needed to unlock something I PAID FOR. I didn't actually pay, I had a lot of RPs that I saved from Prime Loot and thankfully seen how it was a complete waste, but the point still stands. If something is behind a paywall, there's no excuse for it to be impossible to unlock everything in it. That's just scamming people for money. I would've gone FERAL if I actually had to spend money and AN AWFUL LOT OF TIME and being able to unlock just 1 of the prestiges and nothing else. This is unacceptable, unexcusable and someone has to be held accountable for this. It's already awful enough that players who don't want to pay for the pass gets literally no rewards for the event itself, that's already something that qualifies this event as bad and definetly not "fine" but when even paying doesn't unlock content, that's when you are really screwing up beyond redemption.
As they say Necrit "people appreciate something when it's gone". Thanks all people that spammed on Odyssey event "just bring URF back". And to be honest on any event that was not URF
I got all the stuff from Odyssey and spammed around 50 games or more with friends alone, just cause I enjoy pve games more league being the only PvP game I dont dislike.
I think you are missing a key element that URF was never meant to be re-launched at that point, them spamming "give us urf" genuinely came from the same problem we have right now, the vision of the future without the game mode
@@The3lolek I don't. I just type about when on Odyssey official post, 4 out of 10 upvoted post are "URF when?" is a problem. Yes i read those. When you try your hardest and people would just complain "we just want URF"... I would also give up to be honest.
The answer to your questions is always the same. MONEY - Why didn't they reskin SR or ARAM? Because players can't buy map skins. Though I'm sure they've considered selling map skins. - Why did they reuse Ahri's voice lines? to save money - Why did they reuse the visual novel template instead of making a new mode? Because hiring programmers is expensive but artists are dirt cheap There is very little passion to all of this yet people eat it all up for some reason.
@@lobster9059 By eating up I mean people buying event items like the skins and the passes. By giving Riot money, they are telling them that this was worth it.
To me, the biggest question that followed me from the beginning of this event is, Where is Lux? and others Star Guardians who was not mentioned in any games (LOR, WR) ? Especially Lux because main characters in the 2022 Event talked about her so much. As a big fan of Star Guardian Universe, I just can't stop thinking about what happened to Lux after the Twin Stars short story
ngl i was really hoping for one final video that would wrap up all of the stories similar to what they did with Spirit Blossom Yone and Yasuo. I wouldve loved to see Xayah's battle against Rakan in real time.
If they aren't gonna bring back Nexus Blitz, then they should do another Butcher's Bridge ARAM like you said -- HOWEVER importantly, there should be thematic items for a limited time like there were for the Bildgewater event. Imagine if they added an item themed after like 5 or 6 major Star Guardians already established like Ahri or Xayah and each had an active skill letting you use Xayah ultimate or Ahri ultimate! Would be a fun twist on both ARAM and ultimate spellbook.
I totally agree with reskin the rift for special occasion. Back then they had winter map around every Christmas and it was not a festive celebrated by my country...and no snow at all. Winter map was the only place where I can feel the Christmas and you can actually let your character to consume eggnog!! It was fun and so memorable just with this small detail, it's like I'm really celebrating Christmas together with the community and what kept me playing the league. Now it was all memories..
I want Blood Moon map back again. I freaking miss that mode it really was fun for me. Also, you learn a thing or two in the side story of each Star Guardian. In Kai'sa learn about Syndra team more. In Taliyah, i think you learn that the cafeteria (or whatever the skin line was called) was in the same univers as well, as dark stars. In Nilah also learn something new and interesting thing.
Of the champions in this event, my favorite would have to be Taliyah. Her Guardian Stories were actually fun, seeing her go from this chill, awkward nervous wreck to a sweet person who admits to her flaws like a champ. I'm actually making a Voiced Let's Play of this event's VN, which you can find on my channel. It's currently ongoing.
Gonna say, Akali side story is actually good in that it sets up whole inner darkness thing way better than main story did and other side stories are referenced in plot, something like Kai learning hand language happened in there and the joke answer about Nila being Kai's dad in main story only makes sense if you gone through Nila's side story. Which is kind of the issue, because Main story just has flashy events besides Chapter 2 which managed to give Syndra and Zoe some nice characterisation and more to their backstory with Epilogue following on that and giving more context. I believe if side stories were somehow integrated into main story (at least Akali's and Nila's) the flow would be way better, because the only reason I got to have good fun is because of Riot server issue, which made them give it all for free without of stupid grind. Rell is really fun character in her side story and makes Epilogue episode make actual sense, but the fact that they separated through wall of grind is what breaks the event. Edit: also doen't help that mobile gets to follow Xayah story, you know, the one character from previous Star Guardian stories. Edit2: it doesn't also help that all of Akali and Kai side story happens before Chapter 1 and teams stories before addition in Chapter 3 make sense only if you do them in Chapter 2, WHICH YOU CAN'T DO BECAUSE YOU NEED TO GRIND THEM AND GAME CLIENT DOESN'T TELL YOU THAT, it something I understood from context clues in main and side stories. Like, whole argument in part 2 of Chapter 2 with Akali straight up tells you what issues bother team in their side stories which you fix it through doing them. But the issue is that Chapter 3 makes it clear that in the end Chapter 2 Akali got worse, so it means ....... wait, I just checked, Sona says you understand her hands, SO IT MEANS EKKO'S, SONA'S AND TALIYAH'S STORIES HAPPNED BETWEEN PART 2 AND 3 OF Chapter 2. WHICH MEANS YOU CAN GET TO FINAL CHAPTER EPILOGUE QUICKER THAN TO FINISH SIDE STORY WHICH HAPPENED BACK IN CHAPTER 2. AHhhhhhh
I entered LOL after the PvE events (my first event was sentinels of light) so i didn't even know what people asked so much and now i really expect that the void event (if there's even one) is a PvE where Belveth is the final boss
I hate the fact that people have kind of accepted events just being a visual novel and 2-4 videos at this point. I really feel like Riot is sprinting to their downfall, obviously a company that big can never go bankrupt or something but I genuinely hope the players just stop happily taking whatever the underwhelming dogshit Riot gives us. It's really disappointing to see how much they have changed not towards better but towards the way way worse.
Detroit become human is such a good example There's a guy in the end that says an important line but HOW that line is said is completely different depending on your choices despite being literally the same words It could be out of concern, Anger or acceptance to himself.
PVE has always been the best part of league and odyssey will never be beaten, played that shit so much and it was so fun with the possibilities you had.
I dont know how many people actually expected on their own, BUT I do remember YOU being one of those who hyped up the pve event. Despite rito saying theyd avoid it.
I can’t share the feeling that riot is getting lazy on events. Odyssey and Spirit Blossom out runs Star Guardian 2022 like a mile. At least I can feel the passion and thoughtfulness of giving players new things. Such potential wasted
I share your opinion that odyssey was by far the best event league had. The Gamemode was so fun i spammed it non stop. I even quit playing ranked and i play league only for ranked. The way you could customize and combine the perks of the champion you unlocked fromtime to time, and the crazy combos and strategys there were to discover for example the 5 man ziggs strat where all would stand in a corner and spam w. And the yasuo perks were totally addicting as you were farming multiple tornados after ulting and dragging them across the map just to ult again and getting even more nados. The replay-ability was insane, pair that with interesting story and cool boss and pretty good rewards, and its just a fantastic experience imo. Today its mainly skins which feels lame... :(
One thing that I have to disagree with Necrit, is the grindiness of the Event. its not easier or equal, but worse. In previous events, you got Tokens for Wins and Loses (i mostly played ARAM anyway, so I know thats 6 for a W and 3 for a L), which could make the grindiness soooooo much more easier. I wouldnt even had bat an eyes that there are 2 PRESTIGE SKINS in that one event, if we could have gained tokens more predictable. However with the current state you only get 10 Tokens every 3-5 Games, that makes me feel robbed. I've made a calculation, from my previous experience and this event: I had to play 3 games for 10 Tokens, when I was on a Win Streak, which costs me about 20 min per ARAM, so 3 Games x 20 Min = 60 Min/10 Token. So I had to spend 60 minutes of playing ARAM, to get 10 Token. In the Previous Event, I had got 6 per Win, but in the 1 hour I was grinding, I would have got 18 Tokens (Which is a cut by 80%). And thats assuming that I would WIN every match. When I had 3 loses, I would have got only 9 Token instead of the 10 Token. But I gladly take 1 lost Token for 3 loses, when I can gain 8 more Token from 3 Wins. Winning or Losing doesnt matter with that Mission system. AND THATS ONLY WHEN I WAS WINNING THOSE 3 GAMES!! When I lose. I get less progression, which means that I have to play 4-6 games to get the 10 Token, which would have got me with the old system on a 4 Game lose streak STILL 12 TOKENS!!!! This is a scam and we should make a collective call to remove the mission system and return to the Token Per Match system we had before.
U're right but no one will say anything about it. Necrit didn't even mention the scam that was this entire event for ppl that bought the pass, when the missions finally started working i only had 400 tokens (flat) when i had played all the time for the 2 weeks that the missions didn't work. I could've easily gotten more than 2k tokens but i didn't because of the bugs and then riot compensates us by giving us the same rewards we would've gotten if the event simply functioned
Necrit, about skins for map, just YES. I loved butcher bridge and i almost cryed when it was back for a while. A good idea for riot, if they feel like it's a waste of budget, would be to make map skins purchasable in the shop like champions skins! I would honestly pay even 50 bucks to play aram on butcher bridge once again and forever
I don't know why people think nexus blitz was released during Spirit Blossom, it was only Re-Skin of Nexus Blitz, it was in the game few years before the event...
attention span lasted the whole video, made me realize that your end screen still has old instagram's logo KEKW. aside from that nitpick, great vid my guy B)
The Wild Rift Redeemed Star Guardian is worth it depending on how you look. Yes it is extremely grindy, but for the cost of 1 Epic skin (if you grind) you can get 2 Legendary skins + some more (I was able to get both skins and their normal poses the 150 token ones.) I have to admit, it was *very* grindy so it depends on time as well and your availability to dedicate your time to this.
I feel like the visual novel wasn't suited to do the job it needed to do. Comics and/or cinematics are. And it's especially obvious during the fight against Morgana. Trying to develop a story with 8 new characters, 4 big vilain and explaining what happened before, ALL of that under 4 chapters was impossible. That's probably why they removed a lot of past SG members. But it felt empty as a result. The 2 big fights were "meh" to say the least. Fiddle and Morgana dying in like 10sec during the visual novel was underwhelming. The grind was once again annoying, it feels like they didn't really learn much from the sentinel event. PvE wasn't even present as well, making us grind boring League games over and over again to get some info on the SG universe via bonds. But those were EMPTY. To me, a good story have to use most of it's detail to feel engaging and not to make it's readers feel like they are wasting their time. This event wasn't doing that at all. Chapter 4 act 2 is the perfect example : the WHOLE chapter can be skipped. THE WHOLE THING. Everything surrounding the event was nice, music, arts etc... BUT the event in itself was lacking. League's event feels like we have to work for them, and they do not feel like a celebration. About what you said on the tokens : I do not agree. It's not something we sould see as normal. Buying a pass and having to grind to unlock ONE skin among the 2 prestige one is BAD. In valorant the pass is cheaper and you get around 12 skins among other things. League's pass is predatory and bad.
The grinding on Wild Rift was unreal! I was lucky enough to get all the missions done, as well as the Redeemed SG Rakan event-exclusive skin, but I had little to no time continuing the grind for Xayah. At best, I was able to unlock the pose and champion skin frame, but that was about it. I also find the theme for the whole event fun, considering my like for Anime, and that SG is basically some sort of Magical Girl-inspired genre. Regardless, the execution could use a little bit of work. I admired Riot's tenacity and their hard work in making this event to life, but content-wise, it was basically a reskin of all the other events + illusion of grinding. In both PC and WR perspective.
Honestly I want to say we don't even need a reset button. In a video I watched long ago they discussed choices in games and everyone's main complaint is always "but what I you miss something!?" To which I have what I call "The Undertale Defense" which to make a long point short: Undertake has a route known as "genocide route" where you kill literally anything and everything. Doing this essentially unlocks the Sans fight, the objectively hardest fight in the game. Yet many people who have heard of this game and even this route never intend to play one. You just look up the fight or alternate things online. Basically in this new age of social media and gaming, no secret is ever secret for long. A custom league VN with unique endings would be great because right after i get my ending, I'll just look up the others! It's what i did for spirit blossom after all to see what routes I didn't focus ended up like, even knowing it didn't effect the overall story either way.
They should do a visual novel in a survival book style. So you have many dialogue options you can choose. Each will lead to a different story ending. But there is only one way to survive and "beat" the novel. That way they can have multiple ending and still have the one canonical option.
Literally Spirit blossom was the best event because it was the first one to use the now copy paste “dating sim/visual novel” for the events following it but it also HAD A NEW MODE THAT WAS FRESH AND FUN. Nexus Blitz was just a mini SR with mini games and matches tended to go faster because if it went on for too long the nexus would throw hands. SG recycled a dead mode instead of a PVE that they already had made before.
As a VN/lore enjoyer, I enjoyed the story for the most part, but as someone who didn't get to try previous PVE game modes, I was really hoping to get one here. The Guardian stories also felt a lot grindy because we didn't have anything new to grind it with. It would've been a lot more fun if we could grind out Kai'sa progress on a new game mode. Personally, I feel like the tokens were a lot harder to get now than in previous years. Stopped playing for a couple of months due to IRL reasons and I came back to see events being way harder than theh used to be. I also don't like that they went to a time-based progression instead of games played. Honestly, this will probably be the last time I buy an event pass until they make it into something like the TFT pass. I really hate that I paid for the game pass and still couldn't get everything I want from the shop unless I grind the game like a 2nd job or spend more. I had to choose between buying the Prestige skin only or buying the chromas and borders I want. Does not feel good, especially with increased exclusivity of the Prestige skins. Lastly, as someone from the Garena region who didn't get any free rewards, I was hoping to get an extension of the event since I got busy IRL the last few weeks of the event, but apparently since we didn't get any serious issues, we got nothing. Missed out on half the emotes, including Kai'sa's. I'm a bit salty since I was just a game away from getting it.
I remember playing Yasuo on Odyssey before. I augmented him into a tornado machine where when you ult, the number of enemy you ulted will be the number of tornadoes you will create. And whats more, they will return to me. Imagine that chaos. I became the storm that is approaching!
For me this event was worse then sentinels one. 1. Normal player would hardly see anything showing that it is there 2. If you did not pay for missions you would not have any and you would only get points from progressing the event. 3. UI of visual novel was boring as we had literal lists for visuals, while in sentinels we had hub and map at least. 4.We also had much less cinematics, as we had one music video and either one video for one side or 3 tik toks for the other. And we see how riot never played any visual novel and why there you play character that is moldable and why there exists routes. They did not even had to make all choice matter, they only needed to make it so in 1/3 of the novel your would get you one of the 2/3 paths and make good and bad ending for each. And they could have give some simple CGs as any visual novel has those and it is not like client can not have those as we have art for each skin in it.
The real reason I bought oddysey and star guardian skin was because of the memorable PVE. We don't need the cringy visual art novels we need gameplay and challenge! Memorable fun challenge with friends!
It´s so sad that with The Sentinels Event it was the perfect time to Twisted Treeline to come back reworked, one side as Sentinels and the other side as The Ruin, we get nothing but a SKIP ALL EVENT, now with Star Guardian we get another Skip All Event, even with the Bildewater Event we get a "new" map with unique Items and Effects... since a lot of time Riot has passed to a better life in improvind the game and just releasing new skins; Riot, A FEW NEW SKINS WITH SOME LORE IS NOT AN EVENT!!!!! edit: the worse part is that ALL THE MISSIONS basically are: kill this or kill that, cc them and do damage -->> Riot, i do it even without an event
I think the grind for the tokens were really difficult. It felt nearly impossible to be able to get enough, and yes it was not too terrible to try and get to the first 2000, but technically thats just one of the two prestige skins. Releasing two prestige skins for this event, especially with this system made it nearly impossible to achieve unless you were playing, and winning for that matter, constantly. It made things really disheartening to play norms, or aram, or ultimate because you could be in a 30-60 minute match but end up losing it and not get nearly enough points. It made me run to tft to try my best to grind since it seemed like the best option, because at least if I lose early I can just hop into another game rather than wait around.
Me and my friends have always been on your side of wanting PvE. So learning that more of the community is now asking for it makes me hope that riot will eventually bring it back.
It's not gonna happen. A ton of people begged Riot for many, many years to make a Baker Pantheon skin, and when Riot finally caved in and did it basically no one bought it and it was a massive flop. Just because some people on reddit SAY they want PvE doesn't mean they're actually going to play it. Same thing happened with Nexus Blitz. You got a lot of people on reddit saying they loved it, but player numbers show that it wasn't that popular.
One thing in regards to so many people asking PVE now, like me, I think a lot of new players came in after watching Arcane and hardly knew what events had been like before the passes and ultimate spellbook. So like me, when they found out what they had missed out on, they started supporting the idea of a new PVE gamemode because whenever older players talk about the previous ones, they say it was the best. (Seriously, I wish I could have been there for that Odyssey event, hoping they do something like it again soon)
This event could have been so much better with the proper of use of stuff they already have in game. Ideas: - Like in the old game star guardian gamemode they used skarner, velkoz, and cho gath as monsters. They've could of use more models from bel veth, fiddle, gnar, or even vilemaw from twisted treeline and turn them into enemy monsters too with recolor or changed textures. - If they can change the rift map to ocean, inferno, cloud, and mountain then they can change it to star guardian or nemesis like the map being distorted and purple like fiddle or zoe or make it star guardian like by making the map valoran city themed like how they did with the project event. - Pve mixed with visual novel in game. For example after finishing fighting a giant monster (ex herald) it would then transition to a small in game cutscene with them being idle and talk through with dialogues from visual novel. Just some ideas of what could have been for the event.
From the perspective of exclusive content, this event was a mess, the new token grinding system makes no sense when you make an event with TWO prestige skins for tokens and 10 exclusive chromas, there was just too much to unlock and it was incredibly difficult to do so! the content is the only good thing in the event, but you don't feel like you have the chance of getting it all...
I'm sorry, did you just blame the lack of PvE on the playerbase not complaining about it? Because the playerbase complained about it all the time until RIOT themselves said that they wouldn't do it because of a lack of players. Also, the event issues were not for "some people", they were for a massive part of the playerbase.
I would've been satisfied with this event if there was an ending cinematic. PvE event would've been nice but I was happy to experience the story and then just play league normally.
You forgot to mention all the other bugs as well. It wasn't just that the Star Guardian client page wouldn't load; for many people even IF it loaded, they would not earn starlight at all. I could've finished the visual novel 3 days earlier than I did but I was not receiving any starlight from the games I played. Also not to mention people not receiving their rewards, the mission tab of the client not loading at all, and several other bugs. If there weren't these bugs, then I would classify the event as "fine." But they really made the event much more unenjoyable.
I really hope that rioters watch necrit and really takes what he says to heart because this guy doesn't miss, he understands the league community better than anyone
this event felt disconnected from the league universe spirit blossom's story felt different from the world of runeterra but it were legends from ionia and the experience of it made me learn how ionia views their land. sentinals of light was a joke when it came to the interactions but it still kept me captivated on what was happening and why. star guardian is its own universe completely disconnected from league, i would care the same for all of these characters if they were not league champions. and just like last time when we got a smaller star guardian themed event i hate the ahri voice, the voice actress is amazing dont get me wrong but the lines feel either out of place or made me mad. the only difference between this and last star guardian event was the visual novel, more cinematics and more skins. burning tides felt impactfull just delete a champion and bring it back to live with a new aram skin and an amazing voice for gangplank, oddesey was loads of great playable content that was replayable, dark star brought a totally new way of playing the game, riot should take more pride on these events
Well I think it's a great way for them that the skins are expanding I do want to see SG, Battle Academia, Oddessey, Spirit Blossom have their own Franchise. But I do want for riot to focus on the game what they need is a different team to work on the League of Legends skin franchise.
If they reskinend the entire map for each event then that would do the trick rly. Then people in ranked can have the option to just revert it if they find it distracting. That would be a really good investment for them for the future since stuff like PROJECT and Star Guardian comes back every year, so then they can have a map to go along it every year, giving people that feeling that they're actually playing an event without spending any extra money in the coming years. Same with winter maps and halloween maps and spirit blossom and many other kinds of maps. Just give people the ability to swap back to the original if they want to and thats golden. The best part is that they can use said map for whatever game modes they want in the future. Like a Star Guardian version of ultimate spellbook for example, it would feel alot more like Star Guardian if the entire map was turned into Valoran City with Star Guardian music in the background. I hate it when games cripple their own ability to have fun because of some arbitrary barrier which only exists because they take themselves too seriously. Dota 2 has had many maps people can pick and choose from and their professional ability has not been harmed. Smite has many extremely silly skins turning gods into ninja turtles and nickelodeon characters and they've been fine. League needs to man up a bit and stop acting like Football. Yes, we know why we can't just make the football field red instead of green, but this is a videogame, we can make the grass red. Also, if it was all voiced I would actually have listened to the whole story instead of skipping through.
I was excited until they locked my favorite champ behind an exclusive. I have no problem with WR having their own original skinlines. But Star guardian was such a loved and popular event it was a stupid decision to make exclusives. It's frustrating to hear that for years players beg for a skin, denied said skin, then see it become an exclusive on a separate platform. Then when players are SETTLING for just a chroma version of a skin (Even though two alternate legendries have happened before) we're still denied and told excuses as how "impossible" it is... then they give a dark star chroma to another champ.. lol...Plus the PC event was really just a miss.. I think WR got the better end of the stick this event.. continuing the story from the last. PC SG event just a boring storyline.
Please do a video on you storytelling the whole star guardian lore for this year like you did last year with sentinels! I really like it when you tell the story and I don't really care reading it for myself
My biggest gripe was that SIXTEEN skins at once felt what too overwhelming. I'm a huge weeb and I'm so sick and burnt out on Star Guardians now thanks to this event. I think they should have focused on 5-6 skins with better written stories. Anything not Kaisa/Akali felt completely pointless.
same here, only kaisa and akali from the sg side are relevant, not that they all need to be relevant they could just make a team of 5 plus nemesis and nothing would change. It also doesn't help that the star guardian motive became so diluted with this skin line, they feel more like a shonen magic academy than a mahou shoujo group, they also aren't STAR guardians the new ones have each one their own symbol
@@nechocat1234 I agree. And am I The only one who felt the visual novel art for the characters not kaisa and akali felt...unfinished? Kaisa and akali looked crisp and detailed whereas ekko and nilahs didn't look like they were done yet.
The way i felt the vibes of the SG event only when i opened league socials and videos but didn’t feel anything while playing the actual game , unfortunate cuz i am a HUGE SG fan
I really did enjoy the Story of the Visual Novel. The Star Guardian Universe is just great in general IMO, but gameplay did indeed suffer this time around. Lets hope that the Star Guardians Event in like 2024 will have a fun, new mode. Maybe even PvE.
About the "nobody asked for PvE" part... well.. no, a lot of people were asking for PvE I’ve been on league of memes subreddit for over a years and people were talking about how much they loved and wanted alternative gamemode a lot of time, mostly PvE They have been asking for the old star guardian event PvE to come back for a long time The lack of "people talking about it" on reddit is probably due to the fact that the "search bar" in reddit is probably one of the most garbage search option that has ever existed and barely work
After buying the Pass for WR's SG event, I tried to grind for the skins but figured my 2-3 games a day wasn't going to cut it. Even the pro-players and content creators I followed suggested to just buy the Tokens because the missions were too hard. So that's what I did; I paid for the rest of the Tokens I needed to get SG Redeemed Rakan. Any excess left I used to buy trinkets because there was no way I could save up for Xayah before the event ended.
"Skip all" is all I can remember from this event.
Honestly the writing wasn’t bad. It was quite funny at times. But if you just weren’t into it, I can understand
I didn't even waste my time doing that lmao
Sadly I did the same
@@phoenixflamegames1 i mean he would just skipped everything even if it's good. That's how some people are then proceeds on complaining why. Lmao
Forced lesbians ruined the event. Forced blacks ruined this event. Period.
Welcome to the new age of gaming where taking risks is a flaw and copying successful things is the only way forward...
Shitty anime sells , and sells well
I unironically thought we'd get Star Guardian reskin for Aram because it just seems like a perfect thing to do. If Riot doesn't want to invest time and money into reskinning SR or make a new game mode, Aram should be their go-to for events
Think about how SG Aram map would look like:
- one side is Star Guardian themed, the other one is Star Nemesis themed (turrets, minions, inhibs and nexuses)
- whenever one of the two sides claim an objective Aram transitions slowly into one theme (SG side destroys a turret, SG theme takes over SN around that destroyed turret and vice versa)
-two announcers, one for each side. Whenever an objective is claimed or enemy killed you'd hear specific lines: "Nemesis/guardian has been slain/ is on killing spree/ double, tripple, quadra and pentakill", "Nemesis/guardian turret/inhib has been destroyed"
- you could even bring pink crowns, just add purple/black ones for nemesis side
This is just an example of what could've been. Maybe what I'm suggesting is too complex to make but still, just a reskin with a new announcer would've been great
That is an awesome idea!
I still waiting for rotating map from Howling Abyss to Butcher's Bridge any day now
This would be good, but let's not forget the spaghetti code the game is currently running on.
I'm assuming small tweaks would require more than imaginable work hours just for it to fit.
theyve put more effort into spell book than aram so they dont really care
still would of beenn better than what we got.
And once again, no redeemed Xayah Rakan on PC makes me so sad :(

what I do is I just boot up league while my friends aren't around and read the events then. basically treating it like reading a book in my free time.
it's not a perfect solution but it's better than nothing.
Man the event started so well with the twin star storyline, and then… it just started going downhill
Looking at it from kai'sas pov
At the opening event "man I should really be there for akali, she seems upset" then doesn't do it.
@@ihateallluxplayers3590 Jajajaja, that sounds about a right description of the visual novel
@@ihateallluxplayers3590 man stories that are just angsty friends being mad at each other aren't very interesting anyway
maybe some of the budget also went to physical events, riot games rented a big cafe here in the Philippines and turned it into a Star Guardian Academy which really offered small courses that you can enroll in! it was so fun and everything is so detailed and star guardian themed! cosplayers are everywhere and the academy is also full of people and staff while catering free drinks in an actual bar with star guardian drinks!
oh shit i didnt hear about that, where in the philippines?
Bruh but that shit is only accessible to a tiny fraction of the playerbase, that doesnt excuse the whole event being shit.
That's such a small portion of the budget
Excluding the PvE, as a lore enjoyer, cinematics didn't feel good enough for me this year, imo It would've been way better if they animated the final battle in the Twin Stars story like how they did for Light and Shadow, these music video kinda formats don't do much for me, just have a catchy song. The approach for Wild Rift was way better, and those were just shorts but they added a lot more to the characters.
Honestly they were pretty damn good to me. But then again I have HUGE bias as an Akali main and having her in an entire cinematic all her own so, idk, they were pretty nice though.
@@PsychoDiesel48 Her cinematic was Just a Glorified Skin spotlight that added Absolutely NOTHING at the End
Lore zzzz skins zzzz, give us pve
Yeah the wildrift approach was way better and I manage to finish it in just a few days too plus the Star guardian team there is better than the PC
@@teemo8247 it's unfortunately the dilemma of companies.
I do not understand wtf is riot thinking by not doing such a simple thing. they used to do it on a regular basis now all of a sudden its a resource heavy investment. sod off
Not only Odyssey had the best gamemode, it also had the best rewards...
I loved PvE. I've completed all missions of both SG and Odyssey PvE...
Same
Saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame
I agree, if Riot wants to keep using visual novels as a method of storytelling, for the love of god they need to make it an ACTUAL visual novel. Like, an independently produced one, unshackled from the god damn client.
No grinding, multiple paths depending on your choices with a single true canon ending, an actual god damn budget. Put it on Steam or whatever and charge people to buy it.
Yes please. I would play a proper VN.
Riot should either puting on a different website like they did for the RiotXArcar or they shouldn't do VN and simply make normal stories like they did to introduce Kaisa akali and the end of Zoe. They should stop making more VN since half the playets will probably not even understand it.
no
My two biggest issues about the event as a whole were that it was severely underwhelming compared to the hype train it built up, and that they had WAY too much content crammed into this one battle pass.
He's never mentioned before and you have Janna RIGHT THERE
Already established as an older guardian, implied to have major beef with Syndra, and purple themed.
Literally why sideline her for another champion that's never been affiliated with the skinline or the stories ever before.
Getting real sick of having lore events written by people who are obviously coming into them blind
Mainly because akshan can revive so they keep him as a safe and rewind option
This was my last straw with the story srsly, I was afraid they would pull out something like that when Gwen was revealed for LoR but I hoped it wasn't the case and then Akshan was mentioned and I lost all hope, now I'm afraid they will 100% try to tie the shitshow that Ruination was to SG making Viego an enemy there too just for the sake of pimping one of the biggest failure in Riot's history ffs.
@@claudionosotti8812 LMAO 🤣
@@Pyromanniacc05 I’ll take Zilean over Akshan any day
Because they're gonna shove akshan into every story so they can revive whoever dies, therefore making the story less impactful and uninteresting :D. Every event is gonna be, someone died? Oh no anyways
The comics on Wild Rift alone were better than the entire league pc event for me, they really made you connect with the characters and the vlogs were so good for that too. The progress on the pass was absolute hell though, that turret mission was nearly impossible and after 2 weeks of playing every day i could only unlock the first tier of missions ;-;
This event managed to fix my sleep schedule, every time i read a chapter i got immediately put to sleep
Nah, most of my buddies are the core fanbase, ranked andys that buy skins, they played it once and said, "ok, ranked now?"
Yesterday one of them was like "oh the star guardian missions only started yesterday? Theyre so weak just play a game, good, theyre fast ahahahah" and i had to explain that the event was 4 weeks old and he just didnt notice the tab
Yep, definitely agree on Odyssey being a blast (and the best) and there should be more PVE! 😄
@@leetri it died cuz it didnt have any replayability tho. If Rito updates the PVE frequently then it will be huge hit!
Lol's community didn't play pve modes modes because it was easy and quick to check everything what they had in offer, players had no motivation to play them after seeing EVERYTHING, because after void herald in SS:invasion what you had more? try different champs? there were only 5, so average player had about 7-8 games until experience completely repeated itself
also on another note dark star thresh smash bros gamemode was the best pvp one, don't change my mind
Also, URF is dog-shit
I got all the stuff from Odyssey and spammed around 50 games or more with friends alone, just cause I enjoy pve games more league being the only PvP game I dont dislike.
I think you are missing a key element that URF was never meant to be re-launched at that point, them spamming "give us urf" genuinely came from the same problem we have right now, the vision of the future without the game mode
@@The3lolek I don't. I just type about when on Odyssey official post, 4 out of 10 upvoted post are "URF when?" is a problem.

The answer to your questions is always the same.
MONEY
- Why didn't they reskin SR or ARAM? Because players can't buy map skins. Though I'm sure they've considered selling map skins.
- Why did they reuse Ahri's voice lines? to save money
- Why did they reuse the visual novel template instead of making a new mode? Because hiring programmers is expensive but artists are dirt cheap
There is very little passion to all of this yet people eat it all up for some reason.
i dont think people are eating this up
@@lobster9059 By eating up I mean people buying event items like the skins and the passes.
AHhhhhhh
It feels really good to watch someone saying and wanting everything from Riot that you want aswell...

I played this game mode so much that I was asking ppl to let me join them to complete they missions together.
I remember logging on and seeing snow all over the rift and getting excited for it. It made the rift feel fresh.
I've made a calculation, from my previous experience and this event:
I had to play 3 games for 10 Tokens, when I was on a Win Streak, which costs me about 20 min per ARAM, so 3 Games x 20 Min = 60 Min/10 Token.
I agree it felt so bad this year and I didn’t know why. I didn’t know they changed the system before getting this pass
@@Relevart9169 True.
pretty sure this mission system been here for this whole year maybe even longer xD
the funniest thing is that i wrote about this to riot support
and they told me that its more worth kekw
Necrit, about skins for map, just YES. I loved butcher bridge and i almost cryed when it was back for a while.
A good idea for riot, if they feel like it's a waste of budget, would be to make map skins purchasable in the shop like champions skins! I would honestly pay even 50 bucks to play aram on butcher bridge once again and forever
Events have been so luckluster. Cinematics and music videos can't carry all events forever.
Ever since Odysey ive been wishing, hoping, praying they bring back a pve event. It was genuanly the most fun I ever had in League to this day
I don't know why people think nexus blitz was released during Spirit Blossom, it was only Re-Skin of Nexus Blitz, it was in the game few years before the event...
attention span lasted the whole video, made me realize that your end screen still has old instagram's logo KEKW. aside from that nitpick, great vid my guy B)
I was looking forward to this video after you teased it on Twitter
But a reset button ist nothing that would do harm nor would it be some insane work or costs for those who want to experience it themselves
That is such a great start to a video 10/10
Vergil is yasuos father confirmed
For me this event was worse then sentinels one.
1. Normal player would hardly see anything showing that it is there
The quality of your videos is amazing man, keep it up!
The real reason I bought oddysey and star guardian skin was because of the memorable PVE. We don't need the cringy visual art novels we need gameplay and challenge! Memorable fun challenge with friends!
"FUN"
Now that's a word I haven't feel in league for a while
It´s so sad that with The Sentinels Event it was the perfect time to Twisted Treeline to come back reworked, one side as Sentinels and the other side as The Ruin, we get nothing but a SKIP ALL EVENT, now with Star Guardian we get another Skip All Event, even with the Bildewater Event we get a "new" map with unique Items and Effects... since a lot of time Riot has passed to a better life in improvind the game and just releasing new skins; Riot, A FEW NEW SKINS WITH SOME LORE IS NOT AN EVENT!!!!!
edit: the worse part is that ALL THE MISSIONS basically are: kill this or kill that, cc them and do damage -->> Riot, i do it even without an event
You hit the nail on the head with this video ty Necrit
Bruh, your videos are always getting better! Love your content.
I cant believe the star guardian hub literally made my computer work more than actual league of legends
"Skip all some one is gonna sum it up later" i could not really get into this story telling after done it few times before
Don't forget in 3 hours from now there will begin new daily rewards giving out free tokens, orbs etc
Rest in pieces PvE 🙏😔
One thing in regards to so many people asking PVE now, like me, I think a lot of new players came in after watching Arcane and hardly knew what events had been like before the passes and ultimate spellbook. So like me, when they found out what they had missed out on, they started supporting the idea of a new PVE gamemode because whenever older players talk about the previous ones, they say it was the best. (Seriously, I wish I could have been there for that Odyssey event, hoping they do something like it again soon)
This event could have been so much better with the proper of use of stuff they already have in game.
Ideas:
- Like in the old game star guardian gamemode they used skarner, velkoz, and cho gath as monsters.
The intro was amazing. Well done sir
From the perspective of exclusive content, this event was a mess, the new token grinding system makes no sense when you make an event with TWO prestige skins for tokens and 10 exclusive chromas, there was just too much to unlock and it was incredibly difficult to do so! the content is the only good thing in the event, but you don't feel like you have the chance of getting it all...
great to see you on the screen again necrit
I'm sorry, did you just blame the lack of PvE on the playerbase not complaining about it? Because the playerbase complained about it all the time until RIOT themselves said that they wouldn't do it because of a lack of players. Also, the event issues were not for "some people", they were for a massive part of the playerbase.
need more cinematic content like this!!!!!! hilarious!
I would've been satisfied with this event if there was an ending cinematic. PvE event would've been nice but I was happy to experience the story and then just play league normally.
Such a good Intro, congratz Necrit!
I've been waiting for Necrit to tear this event apart.
They could've done so much better. EVERY SINGLE ARC felt rushed and forced
Man I love Necrit must be one of my favorite genders
I really hope that rioters watch necrit and really takes what he says to heart because this guy doesn't miss, he understands the league community better than anyone
this event felt disconnected from the league universe
spirit blossom's story felt different from the world of runeterra but it were legends from ionia and the experience of it made me learn how ionia views their land.
sentinals of light was a joke when it came to the interactions but it still kept me captivated on what was happening and why.
star guardian is its own universe completely disconnected from league, i would care the same for all of these characters if they were not league champions. and just like last time when we got a smaller star guardian themed event i hate the ahri voice, the voice actress is amazing dont get me wrong but the lines feel either out of place or made me mad. the only difference between this and last star guardian event was the visual novel, more cinematics and more skins.
burning tides felt impactfull just delete a champion and bring it back to live with a new aram skin and an amazing voice for gangplank, oddesey was loads of great playable content that was replayable, dark star brought a totally new way of playing the game, riot should take more pride on these events
About the "nobody asked for PvE" part... well.. no, a lot of people were asking for PvE
I’ve been on league of memes subreddit for over a years and people were talking about how much they loved and wanted alternative gamemode a lot of time, mostly PvE
They have been asking for the old star guardian event PvE to come back for a long time
The lack of "people talking about it" on reddit is probably due to the fact that the "search bar" in reddit is probably one of the most garbage search option that has ever existed and barely work
Good thumbnail game
After buying the Pass for WR's SG event, I tried to grind for the skins but figured my 2-3 games a day wasn't going to cut it. Even the pro-players and content creators I followed suggested to just buy the Tokens because the missions were too hard. So that's what I did; I paid for the rest of the Tokens I needed to get SG Redeemed Rakan. Any excess left I used to buy trinkets because there was no way I could save up for Xayah before the event ended.
