      Expat American considering buying a home on the Agean/Med coast some time this year. Alanya to Izmir is where I am looking. Value for money is extremely high. Currently living in East Ukraine atm so a move to Turkey would be fairly rational considering what is happening here...LOL

      yep. It's in my trifecta because Istanbul is such an amazing place and the airport flies direct to more places than any other airport.

      Yes, I would do the venture capital fund investment. I don't want to take the risk of having a physical asset there or living there. I want to live in countries where I am not a citizen.

    there is a problem with that scheme that I've seen at least in Ukraine in Argentina. Central banks can and do publish exchange rates which are widely different from actual exchange rates

    I was in Turkey in 1992, 30 years ago. I worked for 3 months automating a steel mill. I still have a 10,000 lira note. At that time 6700 lira=$1. At that time I could exchange dollars for lira or gold at a jewelry store. It seems Turkey always has an inflation problem. I wouldn't trust Turkey with my money.

    Im a digital nomad and i live here at the moment, arrived 8 months ago, just for an comparison
    Arrival : Current Price
    Fuel - 8/23
    Rent - 2500/6500
    Milk - 6/12
    Electricity Bill - 400/1500
    everything went up 3-4x within a few short months, i only exchange 1000 lirra at a time before i withdraw from the atm, anyone who banks here is insane.

    I like the fact Andrew just lays out the situation. He's not recommending against it, and he's not saying it's insane. You can make your own decision.

    We live in Izmir, love it. Istanbul is amazing but Izmir for day-to-day living is nicer, quieter and easier to get things done. Yes am investing here 🙌

    Andrew does a great job putting all options on the table, as crazy as they seem. Please continue doing it. Nevertheless, I simply cannot trust what they say, it's like buying Argentinian bonds. Too risky.

    Was just a few weeks back they warning industries of a shut down from the lack of gas. They have been asking for citizens to turn in gold and foreign currencies for a while now. Not sure I'd be looking to get involved there. Seems the nationalization or currency reset risk is abnormally high - too high for 14% IF that ends up working out

    I'm invested in Türkiye and have no problem with this program. I'm certainly not an 7 or 8 figure entrepreneur, as I'm sure most who watch this channel aren't, but I will say, sure there are always risks in emerging markets, but there is risk in every investment. I'm currently in Alanya and I absolutely love it here and always hate to leave. ❤️🇹🇷

    Its a gimmick, the government will compensate you for your inflation loss based on the official government's reported inflation rate. I even think Erodgan fired the guy who was in charge of the stats. But I digress, Steve Hanke is measuring Turkish inflation currently at about 90% which is far, far higher than the official rate.

      I live in Turkey, and if inflation was at 90%, the interest rates would be much higher and people would be hungry and begging for food on the streets. That's simply not the case. 90% is totally quacked out.

    Lost almost 20 k last year with the fluctuations and yes I was invested in an interest bearing account the currency weakens more then the interest I was making.... Just keep your money in USD till the administration changes

    It means to me that as per Turkish government predictions, inflation is going to be not higher than interest rate in near future .otherwise they would not capable to handle that compensate issue. Since so many local people have such investment accounts.

      @@RomilCPatel Really, can you expand as to why? I wish I'd never come back to the U.S. from Japan and SE Asia and NOW feels like the time to get out for good , but after being hard hit by the Viral operations, and the Visa situation in Malaysia and Thailand, I was considering Turkey but my concern was for a big downward shift in the U.S. Dollar and a rally of the Lira changing that dramatically.

    only good for small amount and flexible situation, because there is a large flaw:
    what if USD collapse? (global fiat collapse), then the lira depozit will suffer anyway...

    And what happens when they reset their currency.....again?
    Rules on currency change when they "reinvent" their currency again.
    I'd buy property and hard assets there and not buy their basket case currency. Read "when, money dies".

    Turkey is much better than you may think. Erdogan is fighting to better the country. We spent a month in Antalya and Istanbul and will come back. Real estate there is nice and multiple times less expensive than in the West.

      No, it's the TKL equivalent of $500,000. (The $250,000 alternative is for real estate purchases only).

    If I remember clearly, turkey don’t allow dual citizenship. Isn’t it technically illegal to hold other passport once you get Turkish passport?
