The caddie 4 seems like a good idea if your multi tasking , in a hurry , or if your a caddy showing more then one golfer they’re distance , but it seems like it would be a challenge to view ball then flag. I do have a Garmin watch that calculates the distance as we are moving , or the free phone app shows the distance , last resort for distance is the rangefinder, which I use mainly on the range to calculate distance for practice
The CUBE is actually pretty user friendly in Caddy Mode making shooting the ball then the flag fairly easy. My buddy likes GPS based devices better but I prefer rangefinders so I think it's mainly a matter of preference.
I caddy 4 guys every round and I can see how I would love this on cart path only days. And even not for when I’m helping the furthest golfer I can read the next guys yardage without actually having to go to him.
Hope it wasn't too early in the morning! Thank you! I have really enjoyed using Caddy Mode on the course. Definitely a big help during cart path only days.
Thanks for the review. Caddy mode seems amazing, and the LCD too. I wonder if it has height distance. The red readout, seems like that is a good feature against dark backgrounds.
The M Slope and E slope which takes height into consideration. Caddy Mode is great for all type of situations on the course. Use it to know the distance between the cover of a bunker and the pin. Use it to shoot any 2 points on the course from a different standing point. What's really cool is Caddy Mode is approved by the USGA to use in tournament play when slope is turned off. That is right, Caddy Mode works without slope also.
Thanks for the review. I’ve been seeing these advertised. I see the value especially on cart path only days. But $350 is a priced up there with some of the best rangefinders on the market. Tough call.
The price was a sticking point for me as well. Caddy Mode is unique and there are times when it is beneficial but I found myself using the standard e-slope mode a lot more than Caddy Mode. I guess the real deciding factor would be how often you expect to use Caddy Mode. Thanks for commenting!
There is not a rangefinder on the market with Temperature, Elevation and humidity, let alone having caddy mode technology for $350. All other lasers on the market that take into consideration Temperature and Elevation are all between $500-$700, this is by far the best value in laser rangefinders.
In Caddy mode, Can I point and shoot to an empty tee block up to the pin or an empty tee block to a 250 yard tree or the front of bunker all from my golf cart parked 18 feet away from a very elevated tee block without dropping a ball on a tee between those tee blocks first?
The view itself is made up of red and green LED colors that activate once the shoot/measure button is pushed. I tried to get a clear shot with my camera but the viewfinder kept getting blured out.
@@ROUGHGOLF Thanks for sharing the insights. Question: If Caddy mode uses slope, then can you also get Caddy mode to turn off slope so it can be used in tournament play?
Yes, you can turn off Slope and use Caddy Mode in a regular tournament approved mode. Basically what ever selection you have it in (i.e. basic, magic slope, or e-slope) Caddy Mode works in conjunction with that base selection.
The manual claims you can press the distance measure button 10,000 times before the battery goes dead as long as you started with a full charge. In my use of the CUBE I have played several rounds and only recharged it once when the battery got down to about 50 percent. I would say it should last a while if you only play once or twice a week between recharges.
Rangefinders are one item where a USB charger is a worse idea than good ole fashioned batteries. Need to charge this thing every couple rounds and also no magnet is a no go for me
I could understand that but this unit lasted several rounds before recharge and the manual states approximately 10,000 readings in between charges. As for not having a magnet I don't miss it. just set this thing in the cart cup holder.
The charge lasts for 5000+ clicks and when it gets to 20% left on the charge, which is 1000 clicks, it warns you to charge the unit. You never have to worry about the charge
This triangulation caddie feature is just a hammer looking for a nail. The ONLY way this feature would be even remotely helpful is if youre cart path only
@@ROUGHGOLF in our group like in many groups, everyone reads their own distances. Also would be a major distraction for me to not only using the device for my numbers but then having to do so for 3 other guys each time. That starts to feel like a job a caddie should be doing.
The benefits of CaddyMode are obviously going to appeal to certian types of golfers who play on golf courses where caddies, yardage books, and other distance measurements are not an option like many of the courses in my area. Offering a distance for your buddies is a simple courtesy especially if your buddies don't have rangefinders themselves. I get that this unit is not for you. As I said in my review it will only be for a certain type of golfer. I appreciate your viewpoints and think others deciding on whether or not to buy this unit can take your points under consideration.
@@swisstrader This can be used on cart paths only, but to be honest I hardly ever use it for that. I use it all the time to shoot the cover of a bunker and the pin, so i know how much room i have between the back of the bunker and the pin. I use it on the tee to shoot the true width of a fairway. I use it for layup points and how much I will have left. I used it the other day on a hole where I could not see the pin from my tee shot because of a deep valley in the fairway. I walked to the top of the hill, shot down to my ball and then the pin and got the distance. There are endless ways to use Caddy Mode. I love it.
Absolute rip off, for £350 dollars I would want caddie mode to tell me what club to hit, and for the screen to show me all the distances to the hazards in front of me at the very least. Even at that it's far too expensive for what it does.
The CUBE does come with a hefty price tag. I think Caddymode is pretty unique but the cost of the unit should be more in line with the industry standard.

You can. I often use it to get the distance from a fairway bunker to the pin and it works well.
