The female drummer, Nao, is co-founder of MTH, along with Dai, the screaming, growling dude. The guitarist is her younger brother, Ryo who writes most of the songs.
Shimi is an old MTH song that has been reworked to include the singing and dancing of Atarashii Gakko. The groups have different musical styles, but both are iconoclasts making it a great collaboration. Also the melodic parts were originally sung by MTH's drummer, Nao, so having AG! sing them sounds right and Nao still gets to sing the final melodic part. The shamisen bit is a great intro to Rin's rap and AG!'s dance background makes for some epic headbanging. All the members of AG! sing and dance, but Suzuka's strong voice and stage personality means that she usually takes the lead with Rin rapping and Mizyu and Kanon doing the more melodic parts. Atarashii Gakko were formed in 2015 by Asobisystem. The members are Mizyu, Suzuka, Rin and Kanon. Their irreverent attitude and early jazz influenced songs didn't have much success in Japan and they were dropped by their record label in 2019. They were quickly signed by the US label 88Rising and produced an EP with Money Mark in CA and started to get some attention internationally. Then in 2023 they went viral on TikTok in Japan with their song Otona Blue and have capitalized on that success with collaborations like this, a new album called "AG! Calling" and a World Tour playing mostly mid sized venues of a few thousand capacity. AG! have stated that they are not idols and they avoid the banal sexuality that often comes with female idol groups...that's one of the reasons they wear the modest school uniforms with skirts below their knees. The cutesy descriptions on the wiki page are a hold over from their early days when I think Asobisystem saw them as a follow on to Kyary Pamyu Pamyu and Tempura Kids, but AG! seem to have wanted to do something different and so were left to develop in their own direction. If you are interested in more AG! I recommend: "Atarashii Gakko, Otona Blue, The First Take" If you want something a little heavier their first ever single, Dokubana, is a good option, just search on "ATARASHII GAKKO! - 新しい学校のリーダーズ 「毒花」"
AG! For a further intro to them, watch The Night Before The Exam and Seishun Wo Kirisaku Hado (special choreography version). They are a genre unto themselves.
Cool reaction! 😊 If you're curious about the featured artist, Atarashii Gakko, make sure to check them out because I have a strong feeling that you will really dig them. My recommended AG tunes are: 1. Tokyo Calling 2. Otonablue (First Take version) 3. Seishun Wo kirosakuhado Thank you and good day! 😊
Band Maid has been my favorite band since 2020, love them, and I was lucky to go to one of their concerts in LA a couple year ago, I am from Costa Rica so that was like my closest opportunity to go see them at some point hehe when I got to the line the day of the concert I realized that the fanbase are mostly old white rocker guys, with shirts from classic bands like led zepp, acdc, metallica, guns and roses etc, so yeah they are like gatekeepers, angry old and cranky guys that don´t listen or like other peoples opinions on a band they like. But you should listen to them on your own at least, great musicians. Hope you can enjoy them Pura Vida 🤙
Maximum the Hormone can block reactions a fair bit. Koi no Sperma is one of their songs that is cool and a lot of reactors have done. Check out more Nemophila as well. They are very reactor friendly. HANABIE as well.
Now everyone knows why loud exhausts on slow motorcycles suck. Cool reaction to a fantastic collaboration. Atarashii Gakko are cool, you gotta love a lead singer who crowd surfs - Atarashii Gakko in Atl 10/13/24 (Suzuka surfs 😂) at: ruclips.net/video/J0UxR3aK09k/видео.html Be good to see them in Australia.
Great reaction for one of the best entertaining bands on this planet.👍

Two free spirited bands that don't play by the rules of others but their own. I recommend exploring both groups more, if you like them. The guitar like instrument is calles a Shamisen.
As a fan of Band-Maid and also a male I had not seen your previous video so i went back and watched it. Whats the problem here? You got hate comments from that video? WTF is wrong with people? You only had positive things to say! You liked the other bands more because you seemed to like heavier music. So people cant have musical preferences and still like them at the same time? Im so confused lol. Well anyway both this and your previous video were good! Im glad you liked all these bands, theres so much to listen to from these bands! Your gonna love the ride i promise!
Thank you so much!! I've moved passed it and am sorta kicking myself that now I have two videos bringing this up haha but thanks so much for the support, I definitely agree that it was a preference thing that seemed to cause a bit of upset! I'm so enjoying the ride :D thanks again
Welcome to MYH. Time changes, genreflips (Usually about 4-5 in each song), transitions, heavy riffs are their calling card. Try Satsui vx Satsuim Hungry Pride and Koi No Sperma. Haven't seen those getting blocked. Check out Lovebites again, Best metal band I've heard in decades. The Japanese metal & rock scene is incredible, dominated by the all-female bands.
Why didn't this video show up in my feed until now >< RUclips!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes Maximum The Hormone are amazing. And so are Atarashii Gakko. The female drummer Nao inspired Nemophila's drummer Tamu and Band Maids drummer Akane to take up drumming. The band Hanabie started in school as a cover band of Maximum The Hormone. The woman singing on the platform in the sky at the end is also the drummer Nao. More LOVEBITES would be awesome. Also whilst more niche, "Broken By The Scream - Sayonara Birthday" would be fun Also, unfortunately most of these bands have a few of the special highly protective "super fans" that get offended. Especially odd how negative some of them can be in some contexts given how joyful and chill the bands they are "defending" are.
Save Band Maid for your own personal listening. I love the band, but you are absolutely right. A large portion of the fan base is very Swiftie-esque. I won't get into too long of a story but basically, when I first found them, a Japanese friend of mine did full translations of interviews from TV shows and Japanese video streaming sites as he was a huge fan as well. He also told me the reddit translationswere generally trash. Yet those same Band Maid fans claim to have the inside info because they watched some 480p videos translated by a weeb plugging stuff into Google translate.
I do not agree. I have listened to loads of BAND-MAID reactions, and I have very seldom seen any questionable comments. I am not sure what exactly happened to Spangela in the original reaction. Have not seen it and neither have I read any of the comments. I have seen here "Doing Alone and right this time" and I do not remember any problems with that reaction. If some misbehaved in the first reaction, that is not good at all. But, it is NOT my experience that BAND-MAID fans behave nasty. And I am kind of sorry if Spangela choose to not react to more. But, its her choice. No one is forced to react to any artist.
bruh, it's not about the missinformation. but it's about some of the Maidiac's rude behavior, especially the comment from youngster who's not old enough to be able to take other's opinion. also for Lovebites. recently, the wolfpack having a serious problem with some trolls in the comments who sometime disguise as a fan and sometime diaguise as haters. these trolls really saying rude comment and they're purposely doing that to cook the both fans and make them hate each other. but their main purpose is to pissed off every reactor who react to Lovebites, so they won't react to Lovebites anymore. at this point, I think those people had a brainrot.
@@YourAveragePredator I know about the one and only Lovebites troll that has several accounts. He is mainly rude towards Lovebites though, having some weird ideas that some of the Lovebites members have taken over the control from the founders Haruna and Miho and driven Miho away. But that is the only real troll I have seen. I have seen, both for Lovebites and BAND-MAID, some that are a bit to easily aggravated when they think they detect critique. But not en masse and not really more than is acceptable, most of the time. I had one such easily upset person getting at me for Soldiers Stand Solitarily for Lovebites. Asami is there singing "I am not satisfied!" again and again. And I then wrote "I AM NOT SATISFIED!", thinking it was fun. But, someone then angrily wrote that I could go somewhere else if I was not satisfied. A kind of reasonable mistake. The only problem was that he did not believe a word of my explanation. He was so upset that he could not think clearly. Anyhow, so yes it happens that idi*ts are writing in comments to reactions. And then sometimes those idi*ts gets likes and agreeing comments. And yes, it can be annoying. But life goes on. The idi*ts are those that are the losers. Not an advantage to lack the ability to understand.
Without going over the whole thing again, there were a few comments that heavily criticised my reaction and it got a bit nasty. Comments along the lines of 'this was bad', 'Don't think we'll be hearing from you again', 'Get into the current century you bad editing isn't an excuse' etc etc and only a couple that in my opinion were horrible and had less to do with the video and more to do with gatekeeping and attacking for the sake of attacking. ANYWAY, I'm over it. Was it disappointing? Sure, could I have made the video better? Definitely. I'm part of so many fandoms, each one has their unfavorable fans, it doesn't mean I dislike the fanbase or the band any less :) I may react to them in the future, but I just want a little breather to prepare myself for any negative comments haha
Please, don't give up on band maid, even if you do not react they are really good, I am sorry people are being so shallow, I think you are great. Keep doing what you are doing. Love from the travler.
Maximum the Hormone songs generally have a lot of changes of style/genre. I don't believe there is any objectively "best" band, just favourites. However, MTH are certainly right up there with anyone I can think of. And absolute props to Atarashii Gakko, who were totally perfect for this collab. Someone has already recommended Hanabie, who began life as a schoolgirls' Maximum the Hormone covers band. If you enjoyed Maximum the Hormone, you may also like Rottengraffty, another eccentric band that mixes styles and has a sense of fun. Nemophila has two great Maximum the Hormone covers on their YT channel. The drummers from Nemophila and Band-Maid were both inspired by MTH's drummer Nao. Other great MTH songs to check out: 'Yoshu Fukushu', 'A L I E N', 'Koi No Sperma' (the live video, not the older choreography lesson one), 'VAP', 'Koi No America'.
MTH is one of my favorite bands. First heard them when Death Note came around and that opening track was sweeping the internet. The closest American band that even comes anywhere near them in terms of what they do was System of a Down, but... it ain't really even close. Prog metalcore isn't really a thing in the USA outside of bands like Periphery and Protest the Hero.
My two cents (which is only worth half that amount): if someone is too fragile to deal with the assholes on the internet, they might want to find a different hobby. Assholes are endemic across the internet. I am not trying to be mean but you have to have a thick skin if you are going to create very much content on the net.
you're not wrong. At the same time however, I think it'd be nicer if some people chose to express their feelings in a way that doesn't tear another human being down because they lack the capacity to give valuable feedback. With the cross as your profile picture, I'm sure you'd agree that people should be treated respectfully.

Well, Lovebites fans is mostly between 25 to 50 years old or maybe even older. How tf they can be rude? I'm so sorry that happened to you. It started to get into really weird animosity filled territory with the couple of commentors on my video so I can empathize with you there. It really says more about them than you, some people lack the maturity to turn their feelings into constructive criticism- best of luck to them I say ! I hope you're alright and know that your very clearly not alone in this, take care :)

Strongly agree with the first sentence. I search for MtH reactions almost every day, and today is the first time this shows up.
For a second I thought you called Atarashii Gakko "trashy" around 2:35 but then I realized it was probably just your accent making it sound like that.
Ya it was my accent, dw I hate it just as much as the next person haha
