    Great English hard rock band from the late 60's-80's. "Stairway To Heaven" is their most famous song but they have a huge library of hits such as "Good Times Bad Times", "Dazed & Confused", "Communication Breakdown", "Ramble On", "Whole Lotta Love", "Immigrant Song", "Black Dog", "Rock & Roll", "The Ocean", "Over the Hills & Far Away", "The Rain Song", "Trampled Under Foot", "Kashmir" etc.

    Phil Church here I am 64 and grew up with this music and will always remember my parent saying "TURN DOWN YOUR MUSIC" until they got me headphones and I saw Led Zeppelin back in 1977 at the Kingdom in Seattle Washington, great concert.

    Firstly, those hairstyles weren't 'mullets'. A mullet is long at the back but relatively short at the sides. Mullets were big in the mid to late 80s. Zeppelin were around from 1968 until 1980. Secondly, "I wanna be your backdoor man" may not mean what you may think. "Backdoor man" described a man who was having an affair and so had to use the backdoor, when visiting or leaving his lover. Though, knowing Led Zeppelin, I'm sure they were perfectly aware of the phrase's potential for innuendo... ;) Lastly, and most importantly, you just listened to one of the most famous rock songs in the history of popular music, by the second biggest group in history! Only the Beatles were bigger! Zeppelin are THE rock gods, with all 4 members leading candidates for the title of GOAT, on their particular instrument/s. Virtually ever song, on every one of their albums, is a classic and a third, at least, are bona fide masterpieces. They were renowned for their live performances and they still outsell 99.9% of modern acts, today! They're one of the most innovative and influential acts in the history of popular music. Led Zeppelin are genuine giants of the music world! :)

    you're too young to know this song's history but even though it's considered a rock classic (even Tina Turner covered it), don't be too impressed. The song is pretty much stolen from an old Muddy Waters song called "You Need Love" and Zeppelin got sued for stealing it.

    Believe it or not, this song was released in 1969. Yes, guitarist Jimmy Page did occasionally use a bow on his guitar, most notably on their song Dazed and Confused, however he didn't use it for Whole Lotta Love. Instead, a different, odd instrument called a Theremin was used. A Theremin is an antennae-like thing that emits oscillating tones by moving your hand around the aerial and controlling the pitch with a dial on a console. Also, I saw the look on your face when they mentioned "back door man" lol. In Blues music, a "back door man" is the guy sneaking in and out of your house through the back door to be with your partner/spouse when you leave. I don't know what kind of music you like but they played a variety of styles. Punk music? Do Communication Breakdown. Reggae? Listen to D'Yer Mak'r. Funk? Try Trampled Under Foot. Folk? Do Gallows Pole. Rockabilly? Do Candy Store Rock. Rock? Try Rock and Roll. Ballad? Try Thank You or The Rain Song. Blues? Try Tea For One. Prog-rock? Listen to No Quarter. These are by no means the only suggestions but will get you started.

  • @scotttrainer9704
    @scotttrainer9704 2 года назад +4

    Backdoor man is a reference to her on the side lover, the guy who sneaks out through the back door not the sexual act. They use the same term in another song.
    Good reaction. Welcome to the rabbit hole that is Zeppelin.
    I'm a bit of a rookie myself, I've only been listening to them for about 50 years.

  • @ncbandit6409
    @ncbandit6409 2 года назад +3

    Seriously, they don't have a bad song and cover so many styles. Since I've Been Loving You, and You Shook Me are great blues tunes. Kashmir and Achilles Last Stand are epic tunes. No Quarter and Dazed and Confused are sort of psychedelic. Just dive in and you will find your favorites. It's ridiculous how how many great tunes they have.

      I don’t think he should watch live before listening to the album versions, cause there’s so much beauty in Jimmy’s studio work, and it might be hard to go back to the studio stuff after the live versions. As far as live; MSG is solid but Royal Albert Hall has some tunes that MSG doesn’t, and How the West was Won arguably has the best drum work.

    No, it most definitely was NOT in Guitar Hero because Jimmy Page the guitarist was very stingy giving out the rights to Zeppelins songs. Only about 10 years ago did some of them start showing up in commercials and maybe 20 years a go a few in random movies.

    No, no. . Get your mind out of the gutter now Lol. A "backdoor man" was a man who was coming in through the backdoor of a house, while the husband was leaving through the front door, so he could have his way with a cheating wife.

  • @FelixTheCat69
    @FelixTheCat69 2 года назад

    I have to explain something since I saw a funny expression on your face when Plant said I wanna be your back door man. Today we know what that means but that lyric was taken from the days of the Blues when home were stand alone and they had a front door and a back door. When a married woman was having an affair the dude would go around to the back door so as not to be seen by the neighbors. Now you know what the song is about. If you like Blues you should do a reaction to You Shook Me also by Zeppelin. It’s a masterpiece
