- FMS Moa 1.5m Scale Glider. Overview and sloping maiden. Thermal gliding flights coming soon. This is the Ready to Fly version, which is OK for beginners, but the model is good enough to benefit from a decent RC receiver and transmitter. Very good quality EPO and spars make it a tough and durable glider.

Not a scratch (pure luck) But it is quite tough foam
have one of these they fly very well especially with a little Aileron/rudder mix, small enough to keep in the car fully rigged.
Nice touch with the wind sound on the onboard camera. Gives a bit of feedback on how dynamic things are on the slope. I always appreciate you choice of music, but this was a nice variation for this type of flying. Another great job.

Mate, you just made my day. I'm heavy into all RC, but flying is my passion. I've just gotten started (I do fly a DJI FPV), so I'm not too raw. Have a little Scout Cub S2, but want a more glider. I've just bought one, and I thought, camera. Hmmm, I have a RunCam 4k in my collection. Guess a mount is going on this. Cheers

these are great planes for slope soaring. I've had mine in winds up to 28mph and it handled it just fine. It doesn't like to roll very well, but aside from that, great flying and looking airplane.

Seems like the perfect model for the weather we’ve had recently. I have a bi-plane that is ready to maiden, but the wind has limited my flying on the last few weekends. I think the old style Moa looks good, I’ve not seen a review of it before this one. Performed well, straight from the box. Finding a slope soaring site that isn’t too far away, may be a problem. 👍

Ah, I'm with you, love that old school look and the Gull Wing layout...As soon as you launched it, you could tell it was a flier...handled beautifully....You can't say crappy radio though....lol.
Just feels wrong using the RTF radio on such a beautiful glider.

I have been eyeing for the Moa for a while now. After seeing the transmitter that comes with the RTF, I now know I will go for the PNP if I do pick one up. Thank you for this review!
Definitely go for the PNP
The Durafly EFX has the same super compressed EPO with carbon fiber reinforcing. Very rigid wings for when your doing over 160kph.
I love the wing shape on this though! But I'd imagine that you won't be doing these sort of speeds with this!
The fuselage scrape looks easy enough to repair!!

I have the Art Tech Hobbies 2M version of this (it's a bit of a pig to be honest) - glad to see FMS have reworked it as it's a beautiful looking plane

Nice slope soaring! I love this sailplane..although..I had to get rid of the stupid FMS advertising decals....really messes up the vintage look. Painted mine beige with black spinner. German 1935 markings. Thanks for sharing.

I love mine, minus it's behavior while powered. I have to hold the rudder hard while throttling up, then it behaves wonderfully with the power off.

Ahhh this little fella was on my radar but I'd seen some weird handling with it so I got spooked. I've got a Phoenix 2000mm so I didn't feel it necessary to get another glider.
You might buy this for the looks. Ph2000 is hard to beat for proper gliding.
You are totally mad or very brave doing a maiden in that wind, i would say brave and what a pretty sloper

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on it compared to the Phoenix 1600 in terms of flight dynamics/performance. Looks like it could be a lot more aerobatic with the throws tweaked a little. The vertical stabaliser looks a fair bit smaller in comparison, Iirc a lot lighter AUW also?
I'll need more time with the Moa but the Phoenix is tougher and has more wing area.

No, because if you crash, and you will, the motor will take the hit. Best to start with a pusher motor glider, like a Bixler or Skysurfer X8

Have you ever tried, ailerons as elevons, on an RC glider?
Obviously, no elevator or rudder.
Me thinking, the elevons would need to be a little larger prohaps!
Reason for asking, is that I have a very small, toy T tail glider.
Space is mega tight and it’s only very small so I was thinking along these silly lines. Have you ever tried it?

Pitcherons on the LIDL glider work well. Planks use elevons too so it should work. I'll try it on something soon.
