Be careful though because there are no s for gun strikes. Meaning you can get smacked hard while doing one. Making it pointless in the middle of a horde
@@redmannamder3620 Activating perk buffs and removing an enemy for essentially “free” (neither net gain nor lose armor) can be worthwhile. Doesn’t really apply in campaign, but does apply on ruthless in operations.
The Stim is best used when you take a big chunk of damage very quickly and you get a big bar of contested health which is then immediately restored and overhealed when using a Stim. I see a lot of people holding onto Stims as a final lifeline when they get to 1hp just get maybe 30hp back whereas it's much more effective to wait until you have a fuller bar of contested (white hp) that needs restoring where you can't get an execution or big damage multikill to restore it... You'll stay MUCH healthier if you use your stims sooner rather than later!
The Carnifex does telegraph its ranged attack, although you have to be very observant. It will stab both front claws into the ground and squat, like it was about to poop. And sure enough...
I decided to stay away from the SUV sized monster and do damage from a distance Me as a Bulwark in operations; "You sound just like that voice in my head, Luckly I'm real good at ignoring it."
My only issue with this video is your use of "SUV." As a Space Marine, YOU are an SUV. Remember, those guys are like 8 ft tall, in full ceramite, with a rocket gun and a chain sword. That thing is more like a semi.
6:55 Gunstrikes don't grant I-Frames but they do sort of AoE push enemies away from you and the struck target making it easier to take on groups of melee Warriors, if you use a Weapon with the "Fencing" type in Operations it makes getting parries and Gunstrikes easier, and as someone that isn't super good at melee the combination of those two things has allowed me to fight upwards of 6 Warriors relatively safely.
Great vid. The gun execution that you mention was designed by the developers to be a risk/reward mechanic. So yeah you don’t have to go for them all the time but in a tight situation they save you plenty on higher difficulties. Sanguinius would be proud.
Ahhhh... Carnifex Where the hitbox of to the side is a trap (I guess the wind around him is deadly too) and the only way to dodge his charging attacks is to, get this, Dodge into him. I should try that against a bull irl.
As I already cleared the campaign in angel of death solo, I pretty much already knew about all of this, except for healing the wound with stims. On the other hand, I knew guardian relics did that too. For Carnifex, Hellbrutes, etc, it's just a looooot faster to melee them to death, once you get the flow for parries/dodges it goes quite smoothly.
Executions give back armor slots. That's one that you missed, but it's all good. Glad to see you having fun with games that aren't related to Bungie and are still a blast to play.
Perfect Parry's and Perfect Dodges is the best skill set you can learn on the hardest difficulty, or just staying alive, it's all animation not frame based too.
Played through AoD difficulty solo and didnt get any special achievement. It was sick. Didn’t feel like a badass space marine, but learned a lot of funky game mechanics and weapons to gravitate towards quick
A few chunks of valuable info thanks ! In PVE, I like to jump in the middle of a big wave of enemies and play with execution mechanisms and armor recovery. I power punch in the mob with the chainsword (one long melee OR short melee + long melee) and reaction shoot small enemies i just sent flying, restoring armor in the process. It doesnt clear up the wave but I'm sitting there with 3 majoris or more aggro on me. Rinse and repeat, using the blue parry windows for opportunities on majoris or disorienting enemies. When it gets too hectic or to clear minoris in my back i throw in a few shot of melta guns It makes me vulnerable to range units but i'm counting on my teammates to deal with them or try to obstruct with hard cover.
I did my campaign on angel of death as well. Carni's lunge was so annoying, hit box is crazy. Found fighting him in melee was better, parrying his normal attacks and dodging his eruption he does after shooting the spines. With the campaign being so short, angel of death seemed the only way.
Finishing off a Carnifex with a gun strike after a perfect dodge is so satisfying. That only happened for me because the tactical took it to incap, but still. Thank you again, my glorious tactical enjoyers. -a lowly vanguard abuser :P (gonna miss carrying yall when my overhealing gets fixed lol)
This only matters on the difficulty past average and above. Instead of shooting the breakable ammo crates, roll over them from using the dodge button. Those crates don’t always drop ammo.
Multiple youtubers keep talking about the armor being its own healthbar. Unless something was patched, this is 100% not true. I have been hit by those long ranges snipers and it absolutely took out 2 armor stacks and half my health multiple times.
Meanwhile whenever I play heavy, that voice in my gead is saying don't try ro fighting elites in CQB, you don't have a melee. To bad I can't hear it while parrying 4 elites at once and stomping on their feet.

They even go in depth regarding shield replenishment during the individual character timed trials. If anything, perhaps the weapon shot counterattack not requiring ammo could be considered “hidden”, but I wouldn’t consider it as much. Your guaranteed to notice, or there is no way you would even make it to the hard difficulties. It is sad that even RUclips has become nothing but excessive adds and completely misleading clickbait……sigh
It's not bad at all tbh, you do share cosmetic progression between the gamemodes however the progression is different in the 2 modes. In pvp you unlock weapons but have no perks and weapon skills. In pve you have all weapons unlocked but unlock perks
The gun strikes do not give Invincibility frames. This is an intentional choice by the devs, as gun strikes can be heavily spammed. Although a very good note for GS's is that any one performed on a Minoris enemy will give you one bar of armor back, and will actually instantly heal all white health on your bar. And because it counts as a finisher, it prevents the loss of white HP during its animation. I've found surviving in swarms often enjoyable, as long as you can consistently perform gun strikes.
