    I can recite this cooldown now. I've heard it more times than the Lord's Prayer. I still watch the video every time though. It's always a comfort to listen to as well as follow. And it works!

      I find I am exactly like this too! I know it off by heart like all the moves but I find it so comforting to do it at the same time as seeing and hearing Ben do it too! It’s like having your own personal coach there motivating you to do each part! 💯

    My cool down typically involves coming home through the door to my kids and chasing them at a low aerobic threshold.. or in their terms “watch out for the sweat monster”.
    But, this video is everything I should be doing. Keep up the good work!!

    Crushing the content creation. Just what I’m needing as my mileage ticks back up for a new training cycle.

    Great video Ben, thanks. Its much easier to do a decent cool down when there is something to follow.

    I run a 23min hilly, muddy Park Run and have been running for 43 years. Watched your clips and realised I have been way over doing it warming up and cooling down. I would jog on the spot, stretch gradually each muscle group for sets of 3 x 5. I think the muscles were pulled before I even started! Cooling down was a lot of toe touching and hip flexor stretches plus aggressive calf stretches.
    I had two runs using your warm up and cool down and my legs felt loose all the way through and the next day. Will let you know how the next park run goes in the mud...

    I thought most peer reviewed evidence suggested that static stretching doesnt actually do anything to reduce DOMS, and can actually reduce strength. What is the benefit in your opinion

    • @kierenkd
      @kierenkd 3 года назад

      Your muscles act as a strut, like a tendon when you run. Being stiff is more efficient but comes with a higher degree of injury risk. That's what pro coaches try to balance. For most of us, having good flexibility and reducing injury risk will help us be more consistent and have better fitness gains.

    The most pointless stretch at the end but I still do it each time.

    With the glute stretch, can you hold on to something solid in front of you and squat deeper if the stretch you demonstrated doesn't work?
