I just heard The Fray's version of Hearless, and while the idea of doing it acoustically is similar, the arrangement and the way it is sung is totally different from Kris's. I like Kris'es better, also.
Kris has been my favorite all along. i would totally buy his CD. He is so creative and he really knows what he's all about. I can't stand Adam expecially when he hits those high notes with his tongue loose - it's fast forward for me. Kris does his Santana/Damien Rice/Jason Mraz thing that just does it for me. This performance, i really have no words. it was brilliant. Kris is my Idol! Go Kris!!
Can everyone stop comparing all the versions? Everyone is unique in their own way, Kris made this song original because he performed it acoustic. But Dia played it on piano, and still amazing. Can we just say that Kris and Dia made this song even better and get on with our lives?

Dia's version sounds nothing like this - she slowed it down considerably and add a lot of falseto. I think Dia's version is better than the others too.

Not everyone loved hearing Adam Lambert's "notes" as you put it. I for one got tired of almost every perfomance of Adam's ending in the "note". He was so predictable on the show and his "note" got old. Kris on the other hand, was original and made each song his own and didn't need the "note" to prove he was a good singer.

Not that I don't like male sopranos, but it definitely is not how a rate a singer. Singing is more than just high notes and control, otherwise, they would have just had the people sing a couple notes each week & tell America to vote based on that.

They're very different versions of the same song, in fact hers is signifcantly MORE original as he was still following a similar rhythm, while she did it completely different... so, sorry, but you're wrong. She didn't copy a damn thing. They just had a similar idea.
If you are going to accuse Dia of copying Kris, you are required to accuse Kris of copying The Fray and Kanye. That is about how similar they sounded. Dia was more haunting with how she approached the song and it came out sounding very unique. I can forgive The Voice judges for not mentioning the other versions like Randy did, but people listen to both versions and say they are the same are just silly.

Dia's interpretation strayed much further from the original and thus the judges' comments about its "uniqueness". Her version is less aggressive than Kris's, has a fuller array of instrumental accompaniment, and is a folksier, smoother take on Heartless.
i'm not really following AI and by the looks of it, Adam... definitely.... has ALL the attention and at first, I loveddd him but these days, his voice is getting... just - wince - too high for me? and then this Kris guy did Apologize and then... did Heartless, which instantly reminds me of the cover the Fray did (which was epic).. and then he did it... and like Randy said, beats the original, beats the Fray. really... he did an AMAZING jobbb. and yes, i DO want him to be the next American Idol.
no matter what happens Kris is a star, he will be the most successful. from the week he sang To Make You Feel My Love, he had me. I am secretly hoping that people mad voted for Kris and Danny and they will cancel out Adam from the finals. Its no wonder that he sang Apologize straight up, because he knew he had this song in his back pocket. So relevant, so amazing. Adam will fade into obscurity on Broadway and Danny will eventually fall off the radar - Kris has staying power. GO KRIS!

I know you guys LOVE Dia Frampton. And i do too, but her redemption of Heartless was just like this one! The only thing different is that she played the piano. This version is AMAZING!!! I think it's the best version. And i think it could just possibly be the best cover of any song i have ever heard.
Unfortunately, I already have. Although you never know, people are getting tired of Adam's screeching, so Kris, if he makes it to the finals and pulls another Heartless/Ain't No Sunshine or two, could win it all. Adam really needs to tone it down a bit, get back to his Motown Week performance.
For me Kris hasn't really done anything since "Ain't No Sunshine", the 2nd best overall performance of the season after Heartless. He was pretty consistent before Ain't No Sunshine but after that he just hasn't wowed me like Adam or Allison. He still deserves to be in the finals.
2 the 'he actually doesn't have any charisma' comment, maybe not in UR eyes, but his quiet confidence & humble vibe only preceded by the sincerity conveyed in his awesome voice is VERY appealing 2 and touches TONS of folks & if that ain't charisma, I don't know what is!! GO KRIS!!
because he sings are full of all the same mechanics. listen back to both songs tonight, they dont change very much. he puts these screeches where they arent needed, in every song. all fast paced songs sound very similar. on a cd, this will get very tiresome very fast.
Haven't liked Adam all season for the reasons you pointed out Rev869. Mostly the annoying screech that the judges seem to think is singing. on topic...I think Kris did a great job here and I would love to see him in the finale. voted the whole 2 hours to try to make sure that happens,

Kris Allen is brilliant! Where did this Arkansas kid get his superb style, taste, sophistication ? I just like this guy, I do not like the other two.
