We know who Lusintia is: she was Shallan's honorspren guide in RoW (and Shallan disguised herself with Lusintia's likeness when she goes to kill Kalak). Earlier in the preview chapters, Shallan mentions her, disappointed that she isn't there when the other spren leave--but this is apparently because she already went ahead of them. Also, while Shallan did create a solid Lightweaving, she didn't bend reality, exactly. Radiant's Shardblade functions like a regular sword and actually stabs the Fused through instead of smoking out his eyes.
The way I understood the Spren thing at the start was that Spren that didn’t think like humans were less common now. Probably due to their cognitive aspect being changed over time because of human perceptions. 🤷♂️
Thank you for this video. It was very interesting, Shallan swearing a new ideal. But one point you didn't mention that has been driving me crazy is the Strang behavior of the heavenly ones. You think it is Taravodiums influence or is it because Leshvi is no longer leading then? Where they there by coincidence or on purpose? It definitely smells like a trap to me but how could they have known? Maybe traitors among the honor spren? In the last book it seemed like at least some of them were sympathetic to Odium and the singers.
Glad you saw the similarity between the reduced spren in the prelude and what the epigraph says! (I pointed out the no spren in prelude in a comment a couple months ago). In Dalinars vision of the abandoning of the Oathpact (same event as the prelude) He takes an axe to the shoulder and it points out in the vision that a SINGLE painspren is seen. Super sus.
I found it interesting how much it was emphasised that Gallant was comfortable with flying. "As if he'd been waiting for a chance to fly" Perhaps Ryshadium have a more direct connection with the Wind or have the ability to 'level up' their spren bonds like radiants. It honestly feels like Sanderson's trying to set up Ryshadium being able to fly on their own.
Reminds of that moment in ROW when Notum said to Adolin that humans aren't the only one who can "create spren" refering to a strange horse looking spren. Maybe Ryshadiums do have human like intelligence
Im so excited for more Ryshadium stuff. I'm convinced that theyre fully sapient, and I need to know more about their bonds with musicspren, and about the spren that come from their thoughts
Haha. Chap 8 epigraph. I love that. Epigraphs werent available for the beta. I'm mostly watching for those and to see final changes. But I love the description of her.
I interpreted it as "beads were used to make radiant" since it was explained previously that giving form with the beads was only the first step, then shape and color could be further improved. Also, some beads behind the heavenly one started glowing as she spoke the ideal, and that is were Radiant appeared.
Have you read Yumi and the Nightmare painter? Based on that book, I'm pretty sure she just made a fully physical lightweaving, and she'll be able to do that without the beads too
There's people in reddit suggesting that what she did was speaking her first truth again, similar to how kaladin had spoke the first and second ideal again in WoR
I think Shallan must have done something with Identity to suck up that lashing. I don't think that's normally a thing that other radiants can do, only the person who applied the lashing.
I'd say its more likely to play on the Connection. She did it by changing the Identity, but she had an intent to shake off the lashing. Lashing was connected to her but she used lightweaving to change herself rather than the Connection. I think it wouldn't go like this if she didnt have the right intent.
Is manifesting actually soul casting? Spren of any kind can do it even without a bond. I think it's similar, that's why it's easier for Lightweavers and Elsecallers, but fused mention doing it too and I bet any Radiant or even an Elantrian could. In fact Kelsiers does it in Secret History

As soon as I saw that dull rock my first thought was “that shit’s gonna get wet and look rad as hell”
Shallan's previous Truth was that she was afraid. This new Truth is that she;s afraid of herself most of all.
My theory is that Shallan is now having Radiant bond with Testament as a new nahel bond, giving her substance and the ability to stab that fused.
Agreed
That's a good theory
Wow I never thought of that!
Kalak said lightweavers of the past could give substance to their lightweavings
No this is clearly a result of lightweaving creating things temporarily of substance, just as kelek said
The way I understood the Spren thing at the start was that Spren that didn’t think like humans were less common now. Probably due to their cognitive aspect being changed over time because of human perceptions. 🤷♂️
And I think the 2nd epigraph is still referring to the Spren of the Wind that has a strange way of thinking
Love the recaps. I listened to the preview chapters on audio while working and it helps to have someone go over the main points afterwards.

Most likely Mraize leaked info to Odium forces.
I think ch. 8 epigraph refers to the Wind.
Same
I think you're right lol. Just looked at all three epigraphs again and the first two are from the same page of the in-world book.
Came here to say this, epigraph is def about the wind.
Well if the Wind is an actual entity on Roshar maybe Truth is another one.

I was thinking Shallan swore the 5th ideal
She definitely did
It was her 4th probably.
There's people in reddit suggesting that what she did was speaking her first truth again, similar to how kaladin had spoke the first and second ideal again in WoR
She absolutely did!!!
It was probably her 1st or 2nd for a 2nd time. In fact she says it's an ideal shes already said and she says it again.
I think Shallan must have done something with Identity to suck up that lashing. I don't think that's normally a thing that other radiants can do, only the person who applied the lashing.
I think this is combination of her Lightweaver powers and her DID.
I'd say its more likely to play on the Connection. She did it by changing the Identity, but she had an intent to shake off the lashing. RIP the shinovar hoarding shardblades theory
Why? still is not enough of them.
Maybe Tien is a cognitive shadow?!?! Maybe he swore an ideal as he was killed?!?!
I thought the ch 8 epigraph was just about the Wind given the previous one
Uhh your theory on Spren makes no sense - they’re splinters of Honor and have always been there
You are in 17 shard? What is your Nick?
I don't really use that account very much, but my username is Vesperon Starweaver
Come sometimes, is better place to discuss than here.
