  • **MY 500TH RUclips VIDEO**
Finally reached the milestone of 500 videos, and here it is. A rarity as a Southern Pacific lumber manifest has one very unusual and extremely rare unit. GP20E #4144 makes a rare appearance, burbling with its normally aspirated 645 in unison with turbo-charged 645s. Just listen to #4144 as she helps pull the freight at Cable, she is out-shouting the other units including two tunnel motors. Such uniqueness and rarities like this can only happen with second generation diesels. The SP, EMDs, turbo and super-charged primemovers, tunnel motors and a nice mix of cars makes for greatest era in railfanning, this is all the proof needed.
Thanks for watching and enjoying my 500th video, I hope it was a great choice and one that meets expectations.

From 5:10 on to 5:36 that little old GP20 is really digging in shooting a steady plume of smoke straight into the air...👍💯

Thanks for the trip down memory lane! They had a good roll on them! I expected these trains to be weighted down and only going about half that speed; that was the SP’s reputation that I had read about, anyway!

This freight is the main reason why I'll always miss The Southern Pacific, they knew how to put on a show!

Hi, nice video, love all that SP power, this was proper railroading - such a shame it disappeared in that armour yellow mess.

THESE ARE WHAT I CALL REAL TRAINS , I MISSED SP WHEN I WAS A KID ROARING ACROSS THE TRAINTRACKS CARRYING SIX DIESEL ENGINES AND LOTS OF SMOKE BLOWING FROM THE EXAHST CAPS.

Awesome video, thank you for sharing! So cool to see the 4144 in action. It became the Iowa Northern Railway 2003 and I got to run it numerous times. It was a great puller.

I'm on the east coat but how I wish I could've afforded to travel! Calif. must have been nice in the 70's - 90's if railroading was any indication.

That second clip looks more like Cable or maybe Marcel than Cliff. I don't think Hwy 58 is visible from Cliff, and I would expect to see either Tunnel 5 or Tunnel 7, depending on where it was filmed. Nice video--I like the Geep 20.

Nowadays, it's mostly ES44AC power from BNSF and UP with their distinct "chugging" of the prime movers. And that's what you see mostly in California because of their requirement for engines to be EPA Tier 4 compliant.

It did go over the Loop, unfortunately I didn't video that. Hindsight says wish I did. Caught the train at Bealville and Cable only. Gosh I wish hindsight would have been current sight and would have recorded it at the Loop.
