This is truly amazing footage! Thank you for trying to show the entire route of the lava..which was really profuse a couple of days ago! It has been extremely difficult to see the eruptions and the entire Meradalir Valley this way due to so much fog that the online cameras have been experiencing. It has been so frustrating to not see what is going on “LIVE” online cameras...and it is not their fault...if you can’t see due to fog...you are just SOL.. So it is particularly wonderful for you to show this amazing footage! Thanks! 🌟

Thank you for this absolutely amazing footage of the lava streams of our beloved volcano. You are a very lucky guy, since you have been at the right spot at the right time. I've been at the volcano on the same day, but on the other side of the influx to Meradalir and thus missed to be so close to the lava streams. On sunday I went to the spot of this video, but the erruption had a rest. It was unbelievable quite, no noise except little wind and few birds. However, it was a fascinating experience, that I wouldn't like to miss. Thanks for sharing your excellent movie with us!

Very fascinating display of nature, wished my screen had built in infra red so that you could feel the radiant heat behind your computer.
I noticed a couple of people standing at the edge of the lavafield right beneath one of the active streams.
Very dangerous IMO, if the stream changes direction suddenly and flows over the edge you have merely a second or so to escape, the main flow is so fast you can't outrun it.
So you should always keep low ground between you and the flows.

Insane. Reminds me of the volumes of lava from Vents 8 & 20 at Kilauea from a few years ago, but this is with elevation, hence the speed of flow (with associated viscosity). Thank you.

It has to be a very strange sensation to be able to get so close to these very large and very fast-moving lava streams and NOT think "this stuff is lethal. I'm about to die!" At least for now, it looks like the fear of the lava cutting off the highway at the south is no longer a concern. Might the highway eventually be cut off by this newer lava field filling up in the eastern part of the volcano? So many twists and turns!

The Meradalir Valley is higher up, but I believe I've seen where it could eventually go to the road, but it will take much, much longer that way than through Nagahati.

    • @hakonhalldorsson6673
