    I'm not worried about GPU prices anymore because I've decided to only play and 8 and 16 bit retro games from the last century while remaining drunk. And maybe every now and then I'll check out how new games are going by watching mediocre Twitch streams.

    I love that we only have a container "shortage" because the shipping companies REFUSE to pick up empties. We actually have TOO MANY containers but the shipping companies know they can just not pick them up and suddenly there is a "shortage" and they can jack up prices again.

    • @graffiti73

      Also places have have been selling containers for a dime a dozen or on the cheap and people have been building "container homes". So yeah, maybe id they pick their sheet up and stop selling them they wouldn'y have this problem.

    • @andyhu9542
      @andyhu9542 4 месяца назад

      I hear that the problem is that the containers are all in the wrong places. And shipping an empty container is not much cheaper than shipping a container of goods. Therefore, if companies start to pick up empty containers and use them, all shipping would suddenly be twice the cost.

    • @IamCaleum
      @IamCaleum 4 месяца назад

      @@andyhu9542 Many of the containers are in destination locations like the EU or US and instead of picking these containers up and taking them back to east asia, they leave them at the ports and claim they are trying to keep to schedules. During the pandemic Maersk actually sent a vessel from east asia to the west coast US loaded and ONLY brought back empties so they could load. They don't do that now because they are making money on 7000 dollar per FEU moves and will only go back to transporting empties when forced to.

    After suffering and waiting through the great drought/price-hike of the early 2020s, I finally landed an RTX 3070Ti prior to the release of the 40-series... and... couldn't care less about the GPU market anymore... the 3070Ti handles everything I throw at just fine (games I enjoy)... when Johny Butts wants to try and tell me i'm not happy because "but, but" I only have 8GB, you can talk to the hand, cuz my ear's ain't listening... once again, every game I throw at it (emphasis on the "I") plays just fine. Until the 3070Ti doesn't give me joy, I'm perfectly happy standing pat... I don't need to upgrade for the sake of upgrading. I'm very happy with my gaming experience... no, i'm not top-of-the-line on anything, but my "old" system handles everything I play the way I like it. I'll upgrade when I need to, and that time is not now.
    Specs of my "gramps" system:
    Intel i7 10700F CPU / RTX 3070Ti GPU / 32GB DDR4 / 2TB M.2 SSD NVMe

That said, I planned to build my next computer in April 2026 -- and I think that date will come before I actually get a new graphics card. LOL *Life* happened and I haven't been able to put aside the amount necessary for a good card yet. My 1070TI is still rocking and rolling, modern games still look great on medium (especially with FSR2 or stuff like that) and honestly I'm just thankful I can still play games. This whole graphics card thing has been RIDICULOUS. Who can afford like $1,500 to $2,000 just for a video card? Like... WHAT?!

This same article (as well as the one from PC Gamer) has been posted and re-posted all over the internet and it's only guessing at *what could happen* not *what will happen* based off of a recommendation.
    Even if there is a price hike again due to tariffs, this won't take effect until the end of the year at worst. Any cost spikes that happen now will be because of fearmongering, blaming the tariffs that haven't actually been implemented yet. Thanks for doing your part Paul.

      Actually, I do expect the noises from Washington DC about raising the tariffs again to raise prices, even if the tariffs don't actualy go back into effect. Companies will adjust for their worst case scenario, and if it turns out they don't have to pay the tariff, well, that's profit.

  • @VicStrange9
    @VicStrange9 4 месяца назад

    OK, here comes the problem. GPU prices are never going down again. Consider.
    After the crypto bubble, gpu makers realized they could coast on the latest fad and/or political stuff to justify their prices going up for A TON. If its not crypto, its the market going crazy due to Covid. If its not covid, its whatever might happen on Taiwan. If not, then its AI. (The actual material scarcity is another issue, but one they dont care about up till the day its actually over)
    Then you have how much the market is monopolized by Nvidia. AMD has given up on the high-end, and chances are that the midpoint will suffer too due to said decision, not to mention they still have to keep making up new drivers that work with the latest fad, be raytracing or AI or whatever while still suffering from lack of optimization on the powerdraw, which is basically their biggest issue on the long run for people on a budget. And ofc, $deity only knows if Battlemage will be anything but a meme. Thus, Nvidia could pretty much sell us a 2060 with dlss and framegen attached for 700 didgeridoos and we'd be on a pickle because actual competition is getting scarce.
    There's a comment that says "blame the suits". Well yes, but also no. Companies will ALWAYS want to give you less for your money, and ask for more even if they give you NOTHING in return. That's what companies are. Evil? Miserable? Yes, but we should already know that from the get-go or we are screwed.
    The only way for companies to even consider giving us better products and/or cheaper ones would be to stop giving them money overall, and we'd still be screwed due to people (like cryptobros) or another corporation falling for the latest fad (AI).
