What an amazing finale to an awesome show! I’m going to be picking another live-action show to replace Alice in Borderland with, so leave your suggestions down below :) I will say I have seen Squid Games already unfortunately so that show is out of the running
So to clarify, the games didn't happen in their heads while they were on the brink of death; when the comet hit, people who were on the border between life and death were transported to limbo, the borderlands; this is how they were able to interact despite having never interacted in the real world. In this limbo world, they were literally fighting for their lives, in the same way that someone on the brink of death is said to be fighting to live. Those who refused permanent residency in the borderlands, got a second chance to life, having of course to carry the burden of the wounds they sustained during the meteor crash. Those who accepted permanent residency have given up living and have essentially chosen to wander the borderlands running games to test others until they themselves are eventually removed from limbo. The Joker card in the end is meant to signal to the viewer that the games did indeed happen, and that some supernatural force was responsible for it, that force being the Joker. The joker ferried everyone back to the original world and is always watching; always testing people when they're on the brink of death if they truly deserve a second chance at life
There were no memories of the borderlands but def the feelings remained. That is why they felt vaguely connected eventhough they didn't know each other in the real world.
They were fighting for their lives in Borderland while literally fighting for their lives in the real world. The Queen of Hearts was the perfect final boss because she really tested his will to live
Their heart stop, they r in borderland/purgatory, between life and death...
Usagi is one of my favorite characters in such a long time. I just love how the actress played the character.
the joker card represents the entity in the manga called the joker, he appears at the end and explains that he granted everyone a second chance at life because he felt it was unfair a metor had killed so many people. He is like the entity from greek mythology that passes the spirits along to the afterlife. He created a new tokyo in limbo so they can fight to return. If they die they just pass over. The ending isn't implying that there is a joker card left just that it is the end of the game and a nod to the entity the joker
Arisu's entire M.O. was to get through the games to find out the purpose behind them, which is why Mira's psychiatric ward scene is so well written that I have to talk about it.
I read something somewhere that said the knocks Arisu and his friends heard in the bathroom were their hearts last beats before it stopped and the lights going out where them dying and "waking up" in the borderlands aka limbo.
Laughed so hard when u called those two murderers from the jack of heart game psychos when they accepted permanent residence 💀
Mira was brilliant in this episode. I felt like I was a part of the hearts game along with the characters.
I love how Mira mind F**k Arisu.
Funfact: did you know that Alice in Bonderland characters have Alice in Wonderland counterpart? Their name are literally just translated to japanese
It was basically purgatory. Another world between life and death. Their souls interacted with each other. Also the people that voted to stay probably became new citizens of the Borderlands, and thus the new face cards.
The reason why all arisu friends alive because they had the will to survive. The only thing that can kill the player in borderland is by system/losing in a game. Get shoot/beaten up by other player/citizen can’t kill them as long as the have the will.
The king of hearts game could be a good movie/special episode. A prequel story of the face cards before they became citizens would be nice as well.
You have to understand that time works differently in the world, so a lot of them survived a lot of serious injury due to that.
To me is what happen in real world is happen the borderland world. It explain why Arisu never got any shot because his body is real world not hurt. Same for Ann. Doctors use defibrillator to bring her heatbeat
