im not heavily invested in languages / lore / etc., but with German being my second language ill have to note that there is no real direct translation of the "they/them" pronouns. though i do not know much about LGBTQ+ stuff in German generally (since most media thereof is in English).
Even if you were to ask someone what their pronouns were in German, theyd rather use the english she/her, he/him, they/them, etc. than a German translation. Though they could have used the generic masculine for Clove, maybe something along the lines of "the new recruit" - "der neue Rekrut", it wouldve still sounded weird. ("Die neue Rekrutin" wouldve been the female version)
TLDR; Couldve been an oversight of the language department, but overall it is really difficult to translate they/them and use that in actual sentences. At least from English to German.

i think what they mean by "coming back to life" is clove going into another form, just like a caterpillar turning into a butterfly. When the agent dies, she can still place down smokes and her other abilities down but she can't shoot anyone.
yoo that'a actually insane because whenever your tram controller dies you just lose the round because no more smokes unlike csgo where you can pick up smoke, this will be game changer
the idea of "picking up smokes" may be their kit like their teammate can pick up a smoke and use it if they die or something. @@thesauce1682

Kinda like a different version of Deadlocks ult, she cocoons and cant take dmg. but if they break it in time she may die from it? same with kayo if you think about it, its kinda like a mixture but with this new agent they wouldnt need someone to pick them up
i think it will be like the self res for destiny 1 where you are able to use your ultimate after you are dead but like when pheonix respawns there is a delay before you can do anything so players will have to be weary of cloves position on the map whenever their ultimate is ready
*[Clove Abilities Theory]*
Given:
- The butterfly theme.
- The Battle pass teaser banner name "Chrysalis"
- Phoenix's voiceline.
- Cypher's Empty body bag voiceline (empty Chrysalis?).
- And the devs teasing that the agent will having "a beautiful moment" after death:
I think the agent will represent the life cycle of a Butterfly.
Where a butterfly will first be a Caterpillar, and then a Chrysalis, and finally a Butterfly.
As such, I think she will start every round in normal form as a caterpillar, and when she dies she becomes a chrysalis for a period of time (vulnerable + stationary), if she manages to survive the chrysalis period she becomes a butterfly that is able to (in someway or another) provide value for the team.
So basically:
1. Caterpillar (normal form)
2. Chrysalis (stationary form after death)
3. Butterfly (free form)
This could be a passive ability, or more likely, an ultimate ability.
Where if its activated, she is able to then transform into chrysalis rather than die.

The Passive is rare cause only a few agents have a "passive" if you even want to call them that but incorporating the stages of a butterfly into their kit isn't bad theory!

Im guessing that Clove will come out on the 26th, since they usually do updates on tuesdays, and that 2 days before is when they are going to reveal her
I can imagine clove having a ult with low orb points needed like phx and that let's her come back to life or maybe her some does only or maybe she can only revive in spectal form like astra, and only place smokes.
Well in many culture butterflies are used to symbolise soul/death/life/revive. Riot might implement the idea in game and maybe that's why Phoneix was saying that the new agent could do something like revive stuff.

im still gonna main astra and kayo, but this agent sounds cool. the art on the banner looks like they can go inbetween worlds like astra.
I think it would be pretty cool if the new character had an ability like Skyes flash but that is a butterfly that pops a smoke instead of a bird that flashes. Might be too hard to actually use though since smokes often have to be very precise

I think new agent ult is like karthus ult skill? Imagine if the new agent ult is to revive for a few seconds after she dies, or cast a skill for a few seconds
maybe when she dies she has her ult ready and she can activate it any time and decide where to place her cocoon and she can still use her util if she doesnt ult? Idk thats what i think tho

Okay but how insane would it be if they were able to die and then body hop to another dead agent on your team temporarily. Like you die on a site and then come back as your lurking jett that died at b site 🤣. The enemy wont know who to look out for or where they are. The only kink in this plan is if you have a sage and they wanted to revive the player behind the agent you wanted. But ig you can just chose another dead agent.
But on a more serious guess. Considering cypher's quote im guessing thier ultimate is that their body turns into a more fluid version of the butterfly smoke and they can either travel a certain distance in that way and then reform their body whereverthey chose, or they just become/control smokes as that form for their teamates
One of her ability is that she will be able to completely supress her firing shots, may be twice in one round.
I think their ult is a delayed self revive, so you die, you wait then u comeback either where u died or somewhere else but i doubt the second one.
Hot take: the new player when their ult is ready will auto revive after a certain period where they died. The enemy has to make the choice of whether to camp the spot where they die, but the agent can see the spot and just comms if someone is camping

I think Clove is a good name for Agent 25. My first initial thought that she could've been called Hawkmoth, since that's what they are, not butterflies. But i think Clove sounds better.

what is clove to omen?
From my understanding Omen went AWOL to go find out more about the Hourglass organisation / his past. This took him to Scotland where he meets Clove, seems like they’re common enemies of Hourglass so they team up out of convenience or something.
Not sure exactly what Clove’s relation to Hourglass is yet but Cypher mentions something about them leaving behind an empty body bag.
