Tool tethers... SCSSRR#1 (SpaceCorp Space Safety Repair Rule Number 1). At least Fredward doesn't have to deal with the OSHA write up and re-training on tool tethers and not carrying a universal oxygen tank connector. Even if Fredward did connect up to the recovered oxygen, how long would he have until he had to find another one... ??? Minutes of Oxygen? *** I'm a fan of the Thickets and I think this video was well made which makes it fun to watch ***
The fires burning on the surface from the wreckage imply that there is likely breathable oxygen on the planet. He should have just taken off the helmet.
He might have eeked out a few more minutes of breathing if it weren't for all that singing... but instrumentals are a bit boring and I think four deaths is a small price to pay for a good tune.
You don't need oxygen for a fire. All that's necessary is an oxidizing agent, meaning an element that easily takes electrons from other atoms. Oxygen is the most common agent, which is why the reaction is called "oxidation". Fluorine, however, is the strongest known oxidizer-much stronger than oxygen. The atmosphere could be flourine gas.
Unlikely. Fluorine is yellowish-green; if there was more than a few percent fluorine in the atmosphere, we would see it. Fluorine is also sufficiently reactive that a planet could not have an atmosphere of it without there being something generating it (the only reason Earth has oxygen in its atmosphere is because it's generated by plants, and oxygen is far easier to generate and store).
As others commented..... There's fire and smoke ..... hence , there's oxygen. Fred should have noticed that and opened his visor .... but I guess when you're panicking and in shock..... you make mistakes and you die. If he hadn't dropped his hammer in the first place he could have completed his repair mission and none need have died. 4 dead for want of a Tether.....
These guys rock I would feed babies to the great old ones just to see these guys in concert.

even if there is fire, it doesnt mean the air is breathable. if the oxegyn concentration is too low or if other gasses too high.
as a confined spaces op, i upvote this
that was a human ship from sword of the stars
Yeah, the lead singer did the human researcher voices for that game. So it makes sense.
why didnt he just reverse the deflector dish and flood the life support system with tachyon particles? I learned that from wesley crusher
