Growing up not knowing I was autistic, over half my interactions with my peers felt like this, where I was the writer and my peers were the host. They’d ask me questions not because they cared, but for their own entertainment because they thought I was weird and amusing. And when I’d call them out, they’d make that same face! That same frivolous, imbecilic, “knowing look” at each other like a couple of sensible folk dealing with a harmless oaf, as if they weren’t the cynical, disgustingly incurious- um… Wait, I forgot how the next part goes.
Jesus H, this. Except I'm VERY late diagnosed and now looking back on all those interactions I thought I was an actual part of. In fact I think there may have been an entire friendship group I was "in" that was based around my inclusion in the way you describe.
They give such detail to their roles, truly amazing, i. e. Hugh chewing gum, trying to keep up his easygoing image. Some interviewers are so full of themselves, it's really annyoing. And the 4th wall again - the two are hilarous.
@@Richard_is_cool Yeah, it looks like it was part of the sketch, like the interview was pre-rehearsed, which might be the case for some talk shows. ..maybe; I don't really know.
So showing of our culture. I like what Fry says about Hugh. "You're rotting in hell and you haven't the first idea about it, have you?" That line could apply to almost everyone lol
"Have you any idea how degrading and demeaning to the human spirit people like you really are." Love that line. Used it a few times in conversations myself.
Yes. It's quite late for a feedback, I can see that. Nevertheless - sometimes it's easier and quicker just to look something up in LEO's than to ask it in a comment, don't you think...?
Television - where even the unplanned outrage is scripted

So true
“Flatulent-minded” is now one of my favorite insults
Where Jonathan Ross learnt his interviewing techniques.
Yup. I was wondering how come nobody in the comments mentioned Johnathan Ross 😆 or someone similarly cocky... like Mark Lamarr
Hehe... I really miss these two working together, so funny 👍
Exactly what I was thinking!! Fry does look like Clarkson of the 90s!!!
and James may of the 2010s
"Repulsive bowl of spittle" 😂😂
This sketch is absolutely genius and I feel like the real point goes over a lot of people’s heads. Brilliant.
the point that television is scripted even the outrage and the lead up to it?
the northern accent suits stephen fry
I like all the fog in the background.

There isn't a 4th wall in this sketch I'm afraid.

Well if they are, it isn't anything to do with their religious beliefs. If that is what you are incinuating.
@@arsenalfanrichi you're reading too much into his comment.
love the northern accent!
I just noticed that too. :)
2:26 - 2:37 was really funny.
Yeah, Letterman has his own agenda and no one else's, which makes him an entertaining comedy act but an awkward interviewer.
"Have you any idea how degrading and demeaning to the human spirit people like you really are." Love that line. Used it a few times in conversations myself.
Thanks for the honest feedback buddy
Laurie playing the host reminded me a little of letterman, lol.
its a bit like jonathan ross in the early days
Mmmm, chocolate hobnobs!
eighties actually
I think you are wrong mate .A bit of Fry and Laurie was on in the early 90's not the 1980's
