Great work, Nils. Thanks for sharing your video.
Thank you :) I am glade you like it
make a knife case / knife scabbard out of it
haha, not a bad idea, so far I had no defined use for it, but "hidding" a knife inside could be a thing
Hi Nils. This looks beautifull! Before buying the pattern, i would like too know if the sewing holes are marked on the pattern? Or if you have to place/make Them yourself..
Hey there, all the needed sewing holes are individually marked as round red dots for hole punches and red dotted lines so chisel sewing holes
Mr. Beardfoot I have a question. I am interested in one day developing my own intricate patterns similar to this style here. I am wondering how you begin putting a new pattern idea together, and which software you use to draw up the pattern digitally once you are satisfied with the product. Could you maybe do a video showcasing how you develop a new pattern from idea to finished digital print out? I have many ideas, but am having trouble developing 3d patterns. I have watched your skull videos and they come out so perfect, the shape and angle of each of the cuts is so precise, in 2d it looks completely different from when you sew it together in 3d.
I am using gimp for the patterns which is a basic picture editor and for sure not the best choice, but I know how it works. Making a video about the process is very difficult since most idea start in my head and I simply thick about them a lot over the time of multiple weeks or months. Getting the 3d shape right is a lot of try and error and experience, but for the bird, wolf and boar head I used a common technique which is getting a 3d model of what you want (world of warcraft model viewer has a ton of 3d models here) and use pepakura designer which takes the 3d model and creates a bad 2d pattern, I build it and cut it in more logical ways apart and make a new version from it print it again and repeat the circle until I am confident it will work on leather. The first pepakura pattern is definitely not good, but gives you a much better idea on how you get to the shape you want. About this technique there are already videos out there. On this bee I got the idea from my Nazgul boot cover thich already looks like a bee, so I changed a lot and tested it and got to this bee shape.
I hope this helps you getting a head start for your own projects:)
I hope this gives you
@@NilsBeardfoot Thank you so much for responding with such detail! Appreciate it greatly! Keep up the good work!
@@drewsaccucci7907 you are very welcome, I hope you can put these information to good use :)
What’s the chances you know the name of that “roller shoe maker tool” that you used to make those impressions?
By now I have found out it's name, it's called a 'fudge wheel'
@@NilsBeardfoot thank you.
