‘Moussolou’ CD, LP & digital - worldcircuit.l...
Acclaimed for its outstanding production, Oumou's first album established her as a major star in Mali and beyond. Its title translates as "Women" and many of the songs deal with her experiences as a woman in a male-dominated country that still embraces polygamy. Utterly modern and at the same time respectful of tradition, this is a powerful debut.
World Circuit Records have established their reputation by producing some of the finest world music albums of the past two decades, specialising in music from Cuba and West Africa. The label is best known for the GRAMMY winning Buena Vista Social Club album, which is the biggest selling world music album of all time, and led to the phenomenal rise in popularity of Cuban music. 10 years after their historic concert in New York, World Circuit release Buena Vista Social Club At Carnegie Hall.
World Circuit's African artists enjoy equal prestige, including Grammy winning albums from Ali Farka Touré and kora virtuoso Toumani Diabaté, Mali's 'star of stars' Oumou Sangare, afrobeat legend Tony Allen, and the great Orchestra Baobab.

All my thoughts was that this exact song was sang with my language but now i am grown man then realized that this absolutely not a Nigerian' music. i can not stop loving this mother, a musical messiah, she is so wonderful thought i was so young those days i used to listened to her songs with my mother and my brothers..... in fact i can not stop loving you mama.... May Allah Continue His bless on you...
It reminds me the moments of the 1991 Nigeria population census. I was 21 then, and now I am 51 years old now

Late mum made me loved this song as a kid even though I didn’t understand what she was saying. Now I’m 28
Same havnt heard this since I was like 8 rip to our mothers ❤
All I can think of is the agony the Africans that were victims of the transatlantic and transsaharan slavery felt under the chains of their captors as well as there uncertain fate. Not to forget the Africans that died in the mother land as a result of the needless wars, famine as well as poverty in the midst of plenty.
It was fantastically fantastic song at the right time when we were growing up. it remind me the era when Nigeria and Nigerians were so innocent, transparent, accountable and trustworthy to the extent you can keep your money in front of your house without fear of anything. Mat Almighty Allah return us to those good days. Amen. Thank you Oummu Sangare for the wonderful and everlasting song
Ameen
