Was a great game. Wales a bit unlucky but I’m sure even the South Africans appreciated a close hard fought win than a walkover
Deliberate knock on? Where? I didn't see it. Are there better highlights?
@@sports2hedz542 Just open your eyes then you will see it.
@@sports2hedz542 Not deliberate knock on, but, any one who only puts one hand deliberately in the way of the opposition passing the ball will be giving a penalty away. There was no attempt to catch the ball. If they don't give a penalty for this kind of action, then every team will start doing it, and that will be horrendous for rugby.
@@sports2hedz542 biggar made no attempt to catch the ball or steal it. Just put his arm out coz he saw there was an overlap. Just a tactic used to slow down or kill the attack. Coz if that pass goes through, de allende being the strong runner he is, draws in 2 defenders easily, leaving mapimpi free as a bird to recieve an offload. Imagine it was legal to do what biggar did, would be so easy to stop an attack with minimal effort, has to be penalized
Unlucky? The first try could be a forward pass, the second try could be a takle in the air. Just cause the call at the end of the match doesn't go your way doesn't mean it was unlucky
Wales were awesome yesterday and were the better side in my opinion, but the Boks are masters of resilience and finishing off tight games in their favour! Well impressed by Wales. More impressive effort than the Lions, thats for sure!
Just shows how dysfunctional the Lions are. So hard to throw together a team of all stars and expect top results.
This aint boxing buddy..where your opinion if they won or not.. the score in the end determines who won lol
@@user-ic5xq8oc9z relax bro...re-read what he said
@@sports2hedz542 True in part, but 2021 was particularly poor rugby from The Lions. People said it was a crap series. Even as a Brit I though the Boks looked good and all their tries where superb. Next time in Australia needs to be playing attractive rugby at the least.
@@oliverhunter9495 yeah...I definitely have some recency bias in this one 😄
Springboks vs Wales is always downright nasty..., but so entertaining.
Both teams respect eachother greatly and always bring the absolute best out of eachother. That's why even as a welsh man, SA are always my second team to support, and sometimes it's even hard to decide who to support and be happy for with games this awesome
That young Welsh winger has got a bright future ahead of him. Good outing by the Welsh. Would had been awesome had Dan slotted that kick.
Yeah Reese - Zammit out sprinted Mapimpi too. He is class!
Irish fan here. Well played Wales, you took them to the wire and gave them a scare in their own backyard. Think the game needs more collaborative refereeing.
What is collaborative refereeing?
@@bobcougar77 The TMO and Touch judges have some responsibilities judging forward passing, deliberate offside, being in front of the kicker and other Laws where the Ref is hindered by positional limitations. I'm just thinking out loud really, it may be unworkable?
@@Joe90V Yeah, I don't know, i hear what you're saying though. I've always enjoyed the self-regulating aspect of the game of rugby. aka, you can slow down the ball but you're gonna get the boots.
I think we've taken a lot of those aspects out of the game and put them onto the shoulders of referees in an attempt to clean up the game. It get's increasingly difficult for one man to manage.
Then along comes High Definition cameras and suddenly the viewer at home can see the action in far greater detail than any human can see in real time.
Somehow some kind of balance that ensures a fair match but isn't constantly trying to split hairs finer and finer.
@@bobcougar77 Nail on the head. I'm concerned that too much pressure is being put on one official, being constantly judged by HD camera work as you point out, when there are 4 qualified referees at each game.
The game needed cleaning up with the sheer physicality that professional players bring to the game, but there is a fine line and like you, I enjoy the sportsmanship and self regulation. I know from my amateur days that injuries can last a lifetime and although we need to play ferociously (as that's the point) it needs to be fair and not cynical.
Best wishes to you and looking forward to a thrilling third test weekend :)
Hope Willemse continues this form 🤝🤝
I can say I was there at loftus that was the most electric fan base I've ever experienced and witnessed loftus stadium is just another level.
This will only boost willemse's confidence🙌.
de Allende and Am centre pairing is the best piece of this Springboks team. World Class
A win against the Dragons is always something special.
But the comeback of the Bokkes was impressive! 💪🏻
Wales simply cannot land the winning blow. This has been their achilles heel for years, how many games have they looked the better team only to end up losing after the final whistle
Cheslin Kolbe was golden every time he touched the ball
Oh you mean when he doesnt get closed or shutdown with no space and then expected to make miracles.
I would rather play with 14 players than have Willie and Jantjies there
@@travismailsa1 Your opinion is clueless and horrendously uneducated.
@@travismailsa1 Willie had a great game but there is no place for him to play pollard is going to come back willemse had a world class performance

@Travis my guy there were 3 starters that were good. Jasper, Willemse and Colbe. When Willie came on the team shifted to the next gear the way he orchestrated the game on first and 2nd receiver was out of this world. I agree he has had absolute shockers before but he was one of the best guys on the pitch Saturday. I guess you were just watching a different game.
To the memory of Phil Bennet! An inspiration to rugby.
The send off was mind boggling but a great game nonetheless.
Great 2nd half. Good to see the boks forwards AND backs involved the tries. Don’t know what was in their drink bottles in the second half, but it made all the difference.
Got rid of Elton Jantjies, that was the difference
Klippies and coke
Good to see Wales finally utilise Zammit properly.
Good game I enjoyed it, Wales also showing how good they can play.

SA citizen here, I spent 2 years in Dolgellau and played some rugby there too. Wonderful people and hard players. They should have won this match today, but hey.. I'll take the W any day.
Sesiwn Fawr!! Nice area Dolgellau
Good game, both teams played well but the reffing was pretty abysmal at key moments. That was the negative to an otherwise good encounter.
For those who didn't watch the URC all 4 SA teams were playing the best rugby in the competion, the backs were playing scintillating rugby with incredible skill & speed with offloads galore from the fowards(the bulls had the most offloads in the competion). They played fast paced running rugby & the European teams could not cope with it & they resorted to slowing the game down which didn't work. Rhe was combination play from the backs & the forwads. so it's acually CRIMINAL what the bok management are doing to these players by playing this sought of rugby they played in this game. The players are there, the skill set is there, so why on earth are they playing like this???
It would be great if there could be a discussion on this so that a newbie like me can understand
This was their 1st game since 2nd Oct 2021... Don't loose your mind mate
Because the URC is a far cry from international rugby, and this style of play has won the springboks 3 world cups.
Did you watch the same URC as the rest of us? Who won it?
@Felix Davis Larochelle also beat Leinster... So we're still waiting for the 1st team to play at Leinster... Give up mate, Obviously you should stop making excuses for Leinster
Zammet, your defensive play was excellent. You have either been told to work on it, or seen the need for it your self, you have put the work in and it shows. Keep up the good work buddy. Do not mind the refs decision, he was in the wrong not you. God bless Wales.
P.S. South Africa, god bless you too.
I agree 100% I looked at it again and again and again in slow motion and saw nothing that was cardable or even a penalty. What the hell is happening to Rugby? That was ridiculous. Some others saying "he held on to Willie. Not true. Horrid call
Zam I've watched him play at Kingsholm a couple of times. He has the wizardry and he is still hungry.
It was fun seeing him out sprint Mapimpi!
To South Africa you’ve got a wonderful team with a very dangerous set of backs. Tell Faf de Klerk to stop kicking it up in the air.
Agreed.
Yup we saw that in RWC 2019
Many of the Squidge Rugby vids go into this in more detail. ‘Kick if you don’t gain’ is basically SA mantra at this point, and why not if it works and wins you world cups!? For how long could be interesting, as I think this match proves that teams are working out how to neutralise and even exploit the tactic, but we shall see how many aces Rassie has up his sleeves come RWC time. *ahem Rassie is of course just the water boy, not a coach*
I feel everyone played superbly in those circumstances, both sides are strong enough to win. We see some super stars like Makazole Mapimpi, the most dangerous man in the SA squad and Louis Rees Zammit in the Wales squad scoring tries again. Unbelievable scenes and those rugby players should be thank to the fans for their support for their country. Huge game creates excitement as always ❤️❤️❤️💯
Wish more backs could be like Mapimpi in the sense that I don't think anybody ever told that guy he's not a forward lol. If a ruck has too few men he sticks his head in there. When there's a maul he's in there and he tackles like Schalk Burger. He's Black Schalk Burger...in the backline. Gotta love it.
Thing about Elton. He really is a good rugby player in terms of running and making plays. But they just put him on kicker so we don't win our games by tooo much, wouldn't be as exiting then 😉. No OK he's killing us with those kicks but he really does play really well when he doesn't kick.
Wait? Does that means Mapimpi knocked the ball every time he touched it. Like Schalk used to?
@@Jamluji stfu moron. If you find that racist after I left a comment praising a black guy from a genuine place of respect and admiration, then you have the problem homie. I didn't follow it up by saying what a beast Wiese or de Jager was. No literally just talked about what a beast Mapimpi is and that in fact every back in the world can learn a thing or 2 from him.
@@Deontjie its funny because he used to make me so angry when he just started playing for the Boks. Man he literally could not hold on to a ball. If he did catch it he would lose it in contact. But I think he has improved on that so much to the point I really started to like him. His defensive contribution would be insane to ignore.
Mapimpi. Formidable player. Plays like a warrior.
great looking game like England vs Australia, so gutted you lost Wales but fantastic improvement well done against the world champions

@Felix Davis wales have produced some of the best players of the game, that game against the boks was very entertaining game for me
@Felix Davis bro there’s the legendary j j williams he bamboozled a lot of players in his time and many other great welsh players
@Felix Davis Watch the 1974 Lions Series against South Africa and the brilliant Welsh players who were in that team like JPR Williams, Phil Bennett, Gareth Edwards to name a couple. Four tests were played against SA. The Lions won 3 and drew the last one. In 1971 the Lions cleaned out the All Blacks. I am a Kiwi / Maori and an avid All Black and Springboks fan but history undeniably shows the Welsh have produced great legendary rugby players in years gone by. Some of the best in the world and good clean players with exceptional skill and talent. Why was Pollard not involved?
@@michelefavaretto627 according to Bok coach it was because Pollard was still playing in the French league last weekend, so he joined the squad late. Still would have been a much better choice despite this IMO

As a Boks fan I feel Wales are always here, since 95, they push us hard but somehow we Win...
What a game from the dragons.
That celebration at the end is such a moment
Cracking match. Wales have had a pretty poor 12 months (both in the 6 nations and in the URC) but look to be back on form.
The Welsh mentality and style of rugby, for about the past ten years, have almost always caused tense and and grinding games against the Springboks, for whatever reason, the Welsh give the South Africans a very hard time every time they play.
The Welsh test team is always good and always in the running for titles. The number of GrandSlams and 6N titles they've won is evidence of that. But they've sacrificed the regional and club game in Wales to give the test team complete priority. The game below that in Wales is dying.
This is EXACTLY what I expect from Wales. After our WRC semi final, these are the best two teams in the world right now.
Right now, the best 2 teams are France and the ABs my friend
Nonsense. France, Ireland and NZ all better than Wales.
Wales are good but they are worse than *ahem*
New Zealand, Australia, Argentina, France, England, Ireland. Possibly Japan and Scotland on their day too, and Fiji are good rn
@@mauroger86 literally the world rugby rankings puts 1 SA. first, 2nd. NZ(3 places) and then France.

This is SA's first game after WRC in 2019... the other teams everyone's mentioned HAVE PLAYED between 2022 and 2022..
Wales is a strong team, anyone who just says "NZ, Aus" etc. really doesn't know but just says buzz words like All Blacks because it's common.
Anyone who says France is the best now.. after what? After how many years? They won the tournament.. a whole tournament and then got rankings..
Imagine if SA could play those tournaments.
Hell, even the Southern Hemisphere tournaments, SA was excluded from playing with Australia and New Zealand.
You can't get beaten by Italy and be on of the two best teams in the world. I'm sure they'll be a threat in the next WC (they always are) but right now: NZ, France, Ireland, SA, England, Aus, even Scotland look superior.
I don't think the Boks can take too much from that win. Great contest. Could have gone either way. Louis Rees-Zammit a Gloucester boy showing his amazing speed and dexterity.

He'll leave Glos very soon as they WRU will want him under their control
@@Jennyeq Hmmm... Even after Wales got beaten by Italy? Something England have never managed. England do manage to get to the finals of WCs though... They're rebuilding the team around new players and a new gameplan, that's what happens in rugby. Just look how France transformed. Plus, England had a shit 2018 and an incredible 2019, people have short-term memories.
Great game, painful last 10 minutes but pure entertainment and a credit to both teams
South Africa basically only started to play in the second half...
Obviously has nothing to do with the poor refereeing then does it? Referee acting like he took a bribe from South African coaches
SA lucky winner of WC - it shows!
Loved this fight back by the Boks. Just feel they are on another level above NZ at the moment. looking forward to these clashes in South Africa.
Idk about above level. NZ rugby is better. All blacks would’ve blew out wales
Yeah not so sure about that. Time will tell though. Only win % and trophies matter. If the Boks keep improving both then it doesnt matter by what scoreline ABs smash other teams. ABs have been the gold standard with the Boks 2nd for 20 years. Going to require several world cup cycles of Bok dominance to change that perception.
Southern hemisphere rugby took a hit this weekend come game 3 good luck to all 4 teams
My All Blacks got smashed,we need more than luck.
Game three is going to be more of the same if we keep with this coach and his (Hansen’s old playbook) brains trust.
2023 RWC based on all games I’ve watched is open to anyone.
Williamse you clutch bastard 🔥
The gap between northern and southern hemesphere is gone. Sa lucky to win this one.
While we were lucky to win this one it was a clean sweep for the south this weekend, including a thumping for the Irish who are one of the stronger NH teams at the minute.
I like it when the backs get involved in the maul. Who cares if you don't have backs. Cause if it doesn't work. You go one off the ruck and then reset. But as the defending team, if you start chucking all your backs in you open up so much space on the field. so it seems like a win, win, for the attacking team
I was made to believe by social media talk and expert hot takes that Wales was gonna get rolled..
Wales are always good against South Africa. That World Cup semi in 2019 was one of the toughest games we've had in the last ten years. I have big respect for them. Just a bit disappointed North and one of the other big players were trying to intimidate Kolbe for most of the game. It takes a lot to get him going and you can see he was very unhappy at one stage. It didn't work and backfired on them.
Im Welsh, Good game. SA won. BUT GOOD GAME
Yeah, it was a good contest. Interesting to watch. You guys had to endure so much pressure for so long. Your team took every try scoring opportunity.

Both Willie and Elton are 'confidence' players and both are only ever judged by us for their bad games. We won't throw Franco Mostert under the bus for 1 carry and no metres gained in 60 minutes or Lood de Jager for giving away half the total number of penalties we conceded, but we will forget how Elton won the AB game last year for us from setting up the last try to the drop goal and winning kick, and we forget all the times like yesterday that Willie has been fantastic, including the BI Lions tour where he set up Kolbe's try. WOW. Great job,
The Deliberate Knockdown. The worst kind of penalty in rugby. Absolutely 50/50 and so subjective.
It is a penalty. The rule states clearly if a player is not in a realistic position to catch the ball and just stick out a hand but was not able to catch the ball , it must then given as a deliberate knock on because it kills the flow of the game in a negative way. If that rule is not inplace players will then just try to slap every ball pass and it will become a slug fest. That penalty is a penalty today , tomorrow, yesterday.
@@heinrichswanepoel6566 I am not debating the penalty just don't agree with the rule in general. They don't have it in Rugby League and very rarely see it in a negative way just more people going for intercepts without having to worry about being sent to the sideline for dropping the ball.

Not one to mention the referee usually but that call against LRZ is super harsh - there is a separation - he didn't have time to realise wide enough so it was nice and easy for the ref. I hope that they get into the team momentum soon. Team sports needs practice as a team to win games... Being scattered all over the world is not easy for a national team that's been out of their green & gold shirts for that long...
If not mistaken as well all blacks last played end of last year but they whooped Ireland who were in the six nations with many games so that's not a really valid reason. Form has noticibly dropped
