      @@sports2hedz542 Not deliberate knock on, but, any one who only puts one hand deliberately in the way of the opposition passing the ball will be giving a penalty away. There was no attempt to catch the ball. If they don't give a penalty for this kind of action, then every team will start doing it, and that will be horrendous for rugby.

      @@sports2hedz542 biggar made no attempt to catch the ball or steal it. Just put his arm out coz he saw there was an overlap. Just a tactic used to slow down or kill the attack. Coz if that pass goes through, de allende being the strong runner he is, draws in 2 defenders easily, leaving mapimpi free as a bird to recieve an offload. Imagine it was legal to do what biggar did, would be so easy to stop an attack with minimal effort, has to be penalized

      @@Joe90V Yeah, I don't know, i hear what you're saying though. I've always enjoyed the self-regulating aspect of the game of rugby. aka, you can slow down the ball but you're gonna get the boots.
      I think we've taken a lot of those aspects out of the game and put them onto the shoulders of referees in an attempt to clean up the game. It get's increasingly difficult for one man to manage.
      Then along comes High Definition cameras and suddenly the viewer at home can see the action in far greater detail than any human can see in real time.
      Somehow some kind of balance that ensures a fair match but isn't constantly trying to split hairs finer and finer.

      @@bobcougar77 Nail on the head. I'm concerned that too much pressure is being put on one official, being constantly judged by HD camera work as you point out, when there are 4 qualified referees at each game.
      The game needed cleaning up with the sheer physicality that professional players bring to the game, but there is a fine line and like you, I enjoy the sportsmanship and self regulation. I know from my amateur days that injuries can last a lifetime and although we need to play ferociously (as that's the point) it needs to be fair and not cynical.

    For those who didn't watch the URC all 4 SA teams were playing the best rugby in the competion, the backs were playing scintillating rugby with incredible skill & speed with offloads galore from the fowards(the bulls had the most offloads in the competion). They played fast paced running rugby & the European teams could not cope with it & they resorted to slowing the game down which didn't work. Rhe was combination play from the backs & the forwads. so it's acually CRIMINAL what the bok management are doing to these players by playing this sought of rugby they played in this game. The players are there, the skill set is there, so why on earth are they playing like this???

      @@mauroger86 literally the world rugby rankings puts 1 SA. first, 2nd. NZ(3 places) and then France.
      France is only performing recently.. NZ, AUS, France etc. basically all these teams had a year and half of "free play" because MANY teams were banned from playing during Covid.
      This is SA's first game after WRC in 2019... the other teams everyone's mentioned HAVE PLAYED between 2022 and 2022..
      Wales is a strong team, anyone who just says "NZ, Aus" etc. really doesn't know but just says buzz words like All Blacks because it's common.
      Anyone who says France is the best now.. after what? After how many years? They won the tournament.. a whole tournament and then got rankings..

    • @heinrichswanepoel6566
      @heinrichswanepoel6566 2 года назад +1

      It is a penalty. The rule states clearly if a player is not in a realistic position to catch the ball and just stick out a hand but was not able to catch the ball , it must then given as a deliberate knock on because it kills the flow of the game in a negative way. If that rule is not inplace players will then just try to slap every ball pass and it will become a slug fest. That penalty is a penalty today , tomorrow, yesterday.
