Humanity Behind Bars: The Historic Paradigm Shift at North Dakota’s Oldest Prison

What could transform a violent troublemaker like Jonathan into a positive leader in prison? How did North Dakota’s oldest prison become a model for restoration and hope in our justice system? The Peace Garden State is changing the narrative for incarceration in America by making prisons safer and more rehabilitative. Through the Prison Fellowship Academy, men and women in North Dakota and across the country are discovering who God created them to be-replacing cycles of crime with cycles of renewal.
“As long as we can give them the tools to do it, and they decide to change, we're going to have a better place in our communities,” says Lieutenant Dan Lukach, a correctional officer in the North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
