- I finally have the time to do a quick video of my Intex Excursion 5 boat. The boat have been used almost every weekend by myself or friends borrowing it for cruising on the lakes. This overview just show you what modifications I have done to the boat interior and electronics added. Please leave me a comments or question below if you have any and subscribe to my channel. I will be doing more review of boat products in the future.
Found this after 7 years from upload.. still one of the better on youtube STILL. Nice work
This is of the greatest projects I have ever seen on RUclips. I just purchased an Excursion 5 to have with my grandson. Great Job Peter. God Bless
How’s the inflatable working out for you?…..me? I’m 250, this didn’t work out to well….looking for a bigger boat.
this is 5 star rating
fully built raft props to you and your talent
Mod Podge! Heck yeah Peter. That stuff is magic.
Apparently, so are you Peter! This MOD is hands down the BEST I’ve ever seen on RUclips. Congrats for that alone.
I imagine you must have a lot of patience to do this kind of work. I’m always in such a hurry, but I can tell you took your time to get everything perfect! This is an exemplary piece of ingenuity and craftsmanship. Bravo Bravo Bravo!
Now THIS is awesome
Nice job. I'm a 25+ year retired marine technician / boat rigger. I enjoyed the rigging aspect because it allowed you to be creative.
I am hooked now on building boats. It's very relaxing to design and build the boat and seeing the fruit of your hard works done!! I gave this boat to my buddies so they can use it for parting and Seafair. I am building a small catamaran style boat for ocean fishing and relaxing in the lakes..
This is one of my favorite mod videos. looks so clean, geometrically proper, ect. Why someone would want a Jon boat over what you've just done here stuns me.
I only wish the OEM would make this boat hull with a better graded material. This would be perfect if the hull was stronger and puncture resistance. I would buy the better hull in a heart beat if they made one!
Peter Pham I plan to take this in relatively gentle lakes and not get too shallow if I can, so hopefully I won't have any puncture problems
+Peter Pham
its called intex mariner 4
they even got stronger ones but cost more.
@@peterpham4846 did u keep getting punchures do u still have the same one from 5years ago
This is amazing!!! I am a single raising mother with a 7 year old son and a dog. We live in Switzerland and just last year we started fishing. I was looking for a easy to move by one person fishing boat solution and my budget is small but my expectations are high. Thank you so much for this perrrrfect solution!!!
Thanks for watching Susanne! Its a great fishing boat for lakes and rivers without the modifications. The modifications made it more enjoyable for the long fishing trips and just hanging out on the boat.
Man, you pimped that boat out.!!
Dude, you are in the wrong business LOL. You've got talent!!
It doesn't matter what you do, it matters how you do it.
FOR REAL! Can I get those plans? Lol that is exactly what I need!
Yeah for real. I was actually just thinking while watching this that I'd pay you to build this for me. Alternatively, I'd pay you for the plans too. That means you've got a marketable talent bro.
That's Intex Excursion modification on a whole new level. I picked up an Excursion 4, simply added a 1/2" plywood floor, sanded it, added outdoor carpet, and some pipe insulation to the edges. Also added the motor mount and a 55 lb thrust trolling motor. Beyond the plywood floor, no further substantial mods...wanted something that was easy to set up and take-down, maintaining portability while adding some extra options to make the raft a decent fishing rig for calm waters. Curious as to what your modified Excursion weighs in at as filmed in the video...looks like you'd need a trailer to transport at a minimum.
This is awesome... Intex should hire you to design their next boat.
Thanks! Hope you will like my new PowerKat boat build too. I am in the process of cutting all the parts out now. I will be posting video this week.
@@peterpham4846 So, you gave me a winter project. Lol.
I purchased one and we took it out today on Big Creek Lake in Mobile. I have not made any modifications yet but will be working on it with your recommendations. Thanks again awesome video
Excellent modification and video. The way to put on the registration number to this inflatable boat is brilliant! Thanks.
Hi, Thanks for watching my video. The registration numbers were made with modpog and plastic backing. I also used an exterior sealer to protect it from salt water.
I agree with @bagerton, this is amazing. Probably the best modification I have ever seen to this boat. I'm jealous.
You should add a roof for shade using 1/2 inch pvc pipe and heavy duty tarp like the one the boat is on. Then add a couple of flexible solar panels. Nicest project I've seen so far
I'm obsessed with this! My fear is if I put all that work into this boat and if it pops or something, then all that work is ruined :(
This....is.....AMAZING!!!!!!!!!
Great job Peter!! I have a smaller Sevylor I want to take in the motor home. Just an inflatable bottom does not cut it though. Just finished the floor. Carpet and foam pipe wrap around the edge. Waiting for glue to dry. Awesome Peter!!
I live in Moses Lake and this would be a perfect setup for shallow waters. Thanks for the inspiration!
Incredible, the attention to detail!
awesome setup. I prefer a lounging position at the bow... can't wait to try for myself!
Peter Pham--WOW!! Impressive. I have seen a lot of customization of inflatables, have even customized my own. Nothing like this though, GREAT JOB. The best I have seen.
Thanks for the kind words! I will have more video this summer on how to build this boat. Please subscribe and see how to build one the same. It pretty easy to do.
Peter Pham give credit where credit is due

Thank you for that video. Solid and stylish project ❤
it's amazing most 2016 electronic can be replaced by something smaller/better in 2020.
Next put a wind turbine to charge the battery.
Stereo: waterproof bluetooth speaker.
Lights: LED solar lights.
Hey peter thanks so much for all the videos and advise on the forums! I live in Manitoba where there is lakes everywhere there’s actually one in the middle of the city that I live in like a block away so this is perfect! Just got my excursion 5, now to start the mods lol. I’ll post a video when it’s done thanks again!
Good luck on your mod.. I really enjoy building mine.. I am almost done with my catamaran and will post it soon..
Peter Pham thanks man and awesome can’t wait to see it!
I would love for you to explain how it's all made so I could follow along and make my own!!
I just love this!!!! Great job, I'm currently working on the floor of my excursion 5. I already have a Minn Kota Endura C2 30#. I had to do my floor in 2 parts so that it fits into my Jeep. Later down the road I may do more if I have a better mode of transportation. All I have left to do to the floor is put on some kind of covering hoping to finish it tonight!
Sorry for the late response, been working on a wooden boat. You guys will love this one, very easy to build yourself too! Once you got the mod done for the IE5, it will be very fun and comfortable to use for fishing or cruising on the water! Thanks for watching! Good luck on your build.
man you did an outstanding job on this boat, looks great!
Thanks for watching and positive comment.
That is the best setup I've seen yet! Great job and you should do another video of you using it.
Sorry I been busy working on other project. I will do a video on the boat performances and the trolling motor I installed on it soon. It's a Haswing Osapian 55lbs motor.
Really well done! Nice job.
I get mine tomorrow. Thanks.
Killer job on this man
how did you connect the pipes in the back
awesome boat, I made a floor for my intex 5 works great
Wow. Very impressive. Quality build
very well done... best set up i've seen on youtube! thanks for the video and the ideas :)
Hey thanks for watching.. You will enjoy the boat of its mod.. My friends really used and abuse it!
Excellent modification. 😀👍
Did it sank??
This is sick!!!🔥
Looks very professional and overall Great job! I will be using some of your ideas for sure. I'm looking to put some kind of canopy on mine, to block out some of the sun. Gets pretty bad out there within just a couple hours lol really nice and i like it a lot
Wow man, very well done, you made a heck of a boat out of that!!
Thanks...Please subscribe as a got more video coming soon...I think you would like the catamaran build I am doing.
@@peterpham4846 I enjoy the creativity of people, there are a few projects I would like to share as well, maybe I will start a channel as well. Keep up the good work, as it encourages people to good things as well.
great job! super nice setup :-)
i love the mods nice boat! ;)
this makes me so excited to get my boat in the mail! can't wait to start modding it with my dad! this is great motivation! Also from WA! :) hello!
Thanks for watching. You will really like the boat once it have been modified. I really enjoy riding the boat on the lakes and ocean. I do a lot of trout, salmons and crabbing with this boat. I can be out in the water all day and not get tired or uncomfortable in it. You will like the ride on Lake Washington. I have no issue on Lake Washington with this boat but for other boater coming in to see my boat.
what kind of motor do you use on your intext?.. I've been watching and researching and I don't expect to go top speed but I still want something that can push. I'm thinking of a motor of 3.5? Suzuki or Mercury? or how heavy/how fast can this type of boat take?
also would I need to register my boat even with 3.5 or less motor? I read that you would only need to register it or have a boater License if it runs over 15hp.?
I got a 55lbs electric trolling motor on mine boat. It give me plenty of speed to cross one end of the lake to the other and more. You can put a more powerful gas engine on it but you will need to mod the boat transom to support the heavier motor! My transom support system is integrated into the boat floor frame and it hold up the original OEM motor support mount. I think 3.5 is pretty fast for this type of boat and plenty of speed. I use my boat for fishing and crabbing, not for speeding on a body of water. The hull material is not strong enough to handle a very high speed cruising.
Boat Title, Registration, and Renewal
To navigate, operate, employ, or moor your vessel in Washington, you must have a title from the Washington State Department of Licensing, a registration card, and registration decals, unless your vessel is:
A canoe, kayak, or not propelled by a motor or sail.Less than 16 feet in length and has a motor of 10 horsepower or less and is used on non-federal waters only.Is properly registered by a resident of another state or country who uses Washington waters for 60 days or fewer.
You don't really need to register it if you don't plan on going to Lake Washington or the ocean. the Inex 5 is 12' long and your motor is under 10HP. I didn't register my at all and was stop by a game warding. He didn't even ask about my motor or if I had a registration number for the boat or not.I even ask him about it and was told most lakes are not federal control in WA. I only register it because of crabbing season and wanted to drop my crab pots away from the piers.
Freaking awesome man.. Just got this boat..
Soo f-ing cool!
Sweeeet ride! All it needs now is a sail mount in front of the bow box.
Best one yet, great job
Wow beautiful
Great work
Thanks for the sharing.
Greetings from Pakistan
Very Very Cool I have the Excursion 4 and its actually my only Boat of any kind I've ever owned I did have a Canoe way back But Financially this is my only option and over time id like to do some mods to it looking forward to a floor and seats at minimum
This is still one of the best build of the xc-5
Freaking AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dude this is goals i just got one
Beautiful, very clean! Well done, hope you don't mind I may copy some or most of your work!
So far I’m at $1089 and I haven’t started on the floor yet that includes, boat, 55lb trolling motor, trolling motor mount, battery, battery box, battery charger, troll wire extension, anchor. Everything is from Amazon
superbly ,and exquisitely done, hell of a job their Peter she is looking super sweet I liked the way you customized so much it inspired me to purchase one ,can you tell me the dimensions of the floor thanks Peter I gotta admit I have a small Honda so iam just putting a floor and buying some folding chairs and it should fit at least I hope and thanks again Peter great job
Hi Lecticia..Thanks for watching my video..I traced the flooring with cardboard for a template and used that to cut out the flooring. The shape is hard to provide a dim for...the flooring dim basic measurement is is 8' x 4.5'
I just put a floor in my 40 year old sevylor k106 caravel. Bought in Germany when I was in the Air Force stationed there. I’ve been having trouble finding good inflatable seats. Thanks for the idea of a small light folding chair. Solves my problem. Thanks!!
Really nice build. Well done sir!
Excellent job!
can u plz do a video on how u hooked up the electronics, for those that are not electronically incline, awesome set up
sorry for the late reply...I need to take my boat out of storage to do this..just been so busy with a new business and working at the same time..I will try to do it once the weather is better here...
Great video
nice boat. you should make an assembly video to show the transom bars in more detail.
I do have a lot of detail on the transom bar support. I will do a video on it soon when its a little more warm here. I have three boats I am commission to do for people. Thanks for watching my video.
Peter Pham I am also interested how you did the transom bars, thanks for the video
Awesome video thanks for the ideas
Great job. Can you give us an update? How is the boat holding up? Can you make a video on the mod of the motor bracket? Thanks.
Curious why you didn’t go with a Bris inflatable boat. Would have been a better platform for all of that awesome work you did
Nice boat, i woud like to have one,
This is the best inflatable I have ever seen
Dude this is amazing
i wish i could turn my sevylor just like that one and i like your boat it is a pretty cool luxury one of a kind.
I saw your picture/review on Amazon 😂😂
Do you take it apart every time after you use it or do you have the boat on a trailer
Is the floor of the boat inflated or do u pump it then put the board floor over it?????
Nice job looks professional
Thanks....I got more video on how to build a boat coming soon..
Excellent video!
question, do you guys deflate these when your not using? how long should you keep them pumped up?
Amazing job!
What were the angles and measurements for bending the galvanized pipe?
Do you know what model cupholders those are? I have been trying to find the exact function without success. Also, the bars you used to support the motor mount...how are you securing the bars from the motor mount to the galvanized pipe (its covered by your "shelf" in the video) ... any info you are willing to provide is appreciatex
Nice I hope I get to fix mine just like urs....
Wow. What a great video. You have added a lot of weight to this boat. I am curious what battery and motor you are using? How do they perform with all of this weight? Thanks!
Dude wow! Amazing man!
Hi Peter can you explain how you mount the 1/2 pipe for the motor?
That is amazing! Very professional looking. Just bought one and would LOVE to do this! Do you have the details of design and measurements and affiliate links to products you used so I can make sure you are compensated when I puchase them? Thanks!
Brilliant
Gorgeous! So professional looking and everything has a purpose! Nice! My main problem is that my 14 year old pup pup can't move freely around the boat. I'm 270 and my wife is around 180 so I'm trying to figure it out! Do you have any suggestions?
My question is:
Do you use a trailer to load this boat or do you deflate it for loading on your vehicle everytime you take it out?
If so, how long does it take you to set it up considering the amount of stuff you have to mount on it?
It seat and launch from a trailer.
Looks good 👍
The bars you used to support the motor mount...how are you securing the bars from the motor mount to the galvanized pipe (its covered by your "shelf" in the video) ... any info you are willing to provide is appreciated
what do you think would believe a sufficient lb of power from a trolley to move the boat. Because im thinking of getting a 40lb one but im not sure now if its enough... thanks!
Andy Berrios get a 55lbs or above!!! I had a 38lbs trolling motor and its very weak...specially when u got more then 2 people on the boat..
great! thanks for the help!!
Peter Pham how does she run with this load , is there a video ?
Look s great.Great job.
deym sooooooooo luxury !!!!
what size and model battery do you have for your trolling motor? And what is the name brand of the paint that you used to secure the bottom of your boat thank you!
I was ready to do away with my excursion 5 after 2 trips to the lake. now I'm super excited to customize it like yours! thanks for sharing your boat, very cool! I have 2 questions. 1) do you keep the boat inflated even when not in use? 2) how do you transport the boat?
Hi Brandon, Thanks for viewing my video! I keep the IE5 inflated all year long. It seat on a special launch system I built for this boat type. I made a flat dolly system with 12" wheels so I can push the whole setup into my truck bed. Once I arrived at a lake or water ramp, I drop two steel ramps down the back-end of my truck and roll the whole system straight into the water. I push the boat right into the water and roll the dolly launch system back into the truck bed. I will make a video of the flat dolly launch and retrieve setup soon. This is a lot better then pulling it on a trailer. The end of the boat does stick out of the truck bed but I just add a lot of RED Flag on the back during transportation of it.
Peter Pham I was hoping you might do a quick video on your transportation system. I just ordered one and I am really interested in how I can transport this without buying a trailer, it would defeat the purpose in my opinion. I know it's been awhile but weather is getting good so I am hoping you can help us out a bit. Thanks a bunch for your ideas
PS I also live in Washington, on the snake River 😀
@@peterpham4846 did you ever put a gas engine on this boat? If so how big did you go? I was thinking of do a 212 predator mud motor build. You think that would be too much for this set up?
If you add the wood flooring do you still have to inflate the bottom ?
Where did u mount the sonar or device that sends out the sonar for the fish finder???
would you be able to show your motor mount mod in detail? I really like your setup for it, thanks for the videos.
I will try and do a video on the motor mount mod ASAP. The mod will allow you to put a bigger motor on the boat and increase the boat speed if desired. I think going above 3.5HP might not be a good idea. The boat rubber bottom and seam lines might not be able to handle fast speed and beating it will take with a bigger motor on it. Specially when you are going fast and hitting big waves..I don't know if the boat was design to handle it.
@@peterpham4846 Yea, I am ready to do my motor mount modification and would like to see more detail on your motor mount
Very cool 👍
Do u overfill the boat passed the 10cm because when I fill mine up to that level mine seems deflated
Patrick York , yes I do over fill but in a different way. the boat have three separate air chambers...I fill the floor bars really tight and firm...the second chamber I fill it very soft...the third chamber I over fill it so it pull the second chamber out and provide more air and volume to the third chamber without stretching it to much..this way the outer chamber will be firm, bigger space and provide a better balance in the water. This boat is wide and big in the water. I just wish they made a stronger skin for it.
Psick setup!😎
How did you attach the fenders to the side of the boat like that?
