Starting yourr kids on the Ramadan vibe early is always the best. It conteracts the effects of christmas being imposed on them in school. I worked as a teacher for a year and it was very sad to see how the other teachers constantly asked the Muslim kids why they didn't celebrate Christmas. These were 3-4 year olds. The more knowledge they have about our holidays, the more they can stand up for themsselves and be proud of who they are.

For Countdown calendar idea you could’ve done one word a toy together for ex Day 1: Unicorn or a toy she likes& the word Bismillah( and teach her meaning+ when to say it) Day2: alhamdillah and a toy along with it 3d day ma sha Allah+ toy she likes And so on That way it’s fun and you can get a reward as a mama for teaching her this month and it’s going to be an unforgettable moments for her I’m sure. ❤ love you and your daughter ma sha Allah

I do Ramadan wreaths for my kids and add a small gift/treat, good deed and some change for sadqah for the 30 days. This encourages them to give daily throughout the month. During the last 10 days we count up and give to a cause of their choice e.g. charity eid gifts for children. I also print out different Ramadan workbooks/colouring sheets according to their age and try to tailor activities to Ramadan. I do a prayer corner, set up their mini prayer mats, small bookshelf with islamic books etc we can read through together. I try to cut down screen time and explain this is a special month. If they do watch I try to put on Islamic series. Noor kids have a fab subscription for books when she is older and a daily Ramadan programme. Its harder living in the West but we try with what we can. Allah swt accept all our intentions and efforts for our children. Love all the decor mashaa Allah and love watching your vlogs when I get some me time!

Masha’Allah, I am a mother of 15 year old daughter and 12 year old son. I live in the UK. My humble advice is to take them to masjid every Friday and surround them with muslim children, teach them Quran, Salah and allow them to fast based on their age. The more exposure of Islam they have, the stronger their faith. May Allah guide us all. I wish someone had told me this when mine were tiny 🤲🤲🤲
For those who do not know what Ramadan is, it is a month not only for worship. It is true that it takes a large part during the month, but it is also a month for family reunions, where they gather at one table, where the mother decorates for them the best dishes and makes the best meals for them, and the children decorate the house and wear the most beautiful clothes, and then they go to Tarawih prayer, and then they meet again to watch television, where programs and series are broadcast during the month of Ramadan.❤

However, just as you yourself pointed out…people have ‘habits.’ Habits like watching TV for example are not what the month is about. Its about. Breaking bad habits and making intentions to better ourselves and repenting. Its about training your nafs spiritually and training your body physically by keeping both occupied in the dhikr of Allah on an empty stomach. An empty stomach is where spirituality can begin, fore it pushes us beyond our capacity in worship. Thats why all our senses and urges need to be controlled when fasting. Such as our tongue meaning no backbiting and our hearing meaning not listening to music or wrong things etc. This is very brief outline i have provided you with. None of us can do justice in explaining what this blessed month is truly about. May you have a wonderful ramadhan. Please dont mind what i said…we are all one in Islam. 😊 Indeed the family reunions are a beautiful blessing in itself but theres just so much more to it thats all. Tc.
