Here is our journey through the BMO Vancouver Marathon 2024, the largest marathon in Canada!
It is hands down one of the most scenic marathons to run in Canada, and the weather was ideal! On 5/5/24, it was 52 degrees Fahrenheit at the start and finish.
The race began at Queen Elizabeth Park with a slight uphill to the start and then 5 miles of steep downhill, followed by another uphill and another downhill!
The last six miles are relatively flat and go along the Stanley Park seawall, one of the most scenic parts of Vancouver.
It finishes downtown Vancouver near Canada Place.
The course is very technical and can remind some runners of the Boston Marathon course with the level of difficulty.
    Total elevation gain: ~900 ft
    Total elevation loss: ~1100 ft
This was Victor's 3rd marathon, with a time of 2:50
This was Britni's 1st marathon, with a time of 4:24

Similar story with my first marathon. Was going for 3:45, hit all the splits until mile 20 but then my peroneal tendons on both legs gave up. Had to walk to a 4:24 finish. It was an excellent lesson though. No matter how much you research or train you need to run at least a couple of marathons to understand your body and how you need to battle the beast called a marathon. Going for my 3rd one this fall with the goal to hit 3:45 this time!

Thank you for sharing! That’s crazy that that happened to you as well, nearly the same thing. You are so right though.
You got stronger though and your body should know what to expect on the 3rd one. Good luck this fall!

Nice video, congrats. I didn't realize the elevation change there! (fyi, Toronto Waterfront Marathon is much larger..)

Thanks🙂 Vancouver had around 25000 participants this year between half and full marathon. They advertise it as Canada’s largest marathon 🤷‍♂️

I think Toronto Waterfront marathon is Little bigger but Vancouver is the largest point to point marathon.
