I have the 24 Outback,I’ll never learn everything in this car. I’m still learning my iPhone 12 and not getting half of what it does. These cars were not made for old folks at least not this one.
My RUclips Channel is full of how to videos for Subaru's. I say at the end of every video, "You can ask a question & I might make a video about to answer your question."
Manuals are not always written well. Programmers write them based on what the system can do, not a customer wants to do. Manual writers are usually not knowing what they need and present it poorly, but pretty, so it comes out as not helpful. Sometimes we need to make our own charts of "I want to ..." and the steps to follow.
Omg!! Thank you!! Just came across this and I appreciate the information. I have a 21 Outback with the larger screen and I really got excited when you were talking about the "help screen" on the 8 in...but then it was not available on the 11 in...😥. Looking forward to more...👍
I've used voice commands with Spotify through Android Auto. I'm sure you can also do that with Apple Carplay as well. There is music voice commands through the cars voice commands for playing specific songs, but I've never tried them. I will use my Android Auto & tell the Google Assistant what I want it to do, like playing music through Spotify.
Thanks for the help. I am wondering how to use the voice command when car paly is activated? I was told to push the "talk" button twice but it doesn't really work.
Yes, accents can cause issues with voice commands. The only advice I can give is to try & speak as clearly as possible when giving the car voice commands.
Excellent question. Will make a video on that. In the meantime, let me give you the answer. Go to settings & make sure you're in the "General" tab. From the list look for "Wifi Hotspot" select that & turn it on. From there exit that & go to "Wifi Hotspot Settings." In there you will see the name of the wifi network you need to connect your device too. It will ask you for a password, just look on down the list for that, & it is case sensitive. Once you connect to the hotspot you will be redirected to a webpage that is controlled by AT&T. They will walk you through finishing to set up the hotspot. BTW, if you are an AT&T customer you can add the car as another line to your bill, but you will need to see AT&T to help you with that.
I have no idea what you're talking about with a password to be able to use voice commands. I've never encountered anything like that. You're going to have to provide more information as to what exactly is going on.
2022 outback wilderness…. My navigation wont take me to an address i say … not even close… it can take me to the town if I’m looking for an address , but never finds the actual address… have to use car play for that.. i read that then best way to do this is type the address in the app for the best results…. Having a wilderness, I’m frequently out of cell service… so that isn’t an option..
Hello Brian, this might be something I can make a video on. The first thing I would say is to make sure your navigation is up to date. You can do this at www.subaru.com/owners. Scroll down the page & look for "Navigation Updates." When you click on that it will ask you what kind of Subaru you have. You will see a button to click that says "Find your map updates." Right below that button there is also a spot to report inaccurate map data. You could use that to report any problems with the map data to get TomTom to fix it. I would start with updating the map & go from there. Hope that helps.
@@JasonJarrettUSMC yup.. have done that.. also have done the latest software update at the dealer that brought the infotainment system the same as the 2023 models.. still the same issues…
@@Venghous1 Hmmm....then I would try using the nav to get you everywhere. Use it to go places you know how to get too. Try to find out if the problems is basically everywhere or just certain places you go. If the issue is just occurring in just certain places then I would report map inaccuracies to try to get them fixed. I'll think on the issue some more to see if I can come up with any other ideas.
I have to adjust my outside rear view mirror in my Forester and our local Subaru dealership won’t help me. Thanks for NOTHING CASCADE SUBARU in Wenatchee, WA USA
This helped a lot. I learn better being told/shown than reading. GREAT JOB.
I'm glad the video helped.

Fear not. It took me 6 months, but I did learn most of the optional features on my 2021 & now my 2024 Legacy Touring XT. I just turned 77.

@@PamelaBoulden Now that I have been driving it for a year I have most of it down at least the parts that I use lol .
I have a 2022 limited Outback and now I’m just learning about these things, thanks Jason I appreciate it very much!
Awesome, glad the videos are helping you out.
Thanks Jason for a very needed voice command demo.😊
You're welcome. I'm very glad this helped you out.
This was extremely helpful. Thank you so much.
Glad the video helped.
thanks for showing me more stuff I can do with my 22 Forester Touring!
Happy the video helped you out.

This was all new to me. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed the video.
great video thank you
You are welcome!
How do we use the voice command button to initiate Google Voice or Siri?
Hold the voice command button down instead of just pushing & releasing it.
Good information - thank you.
Happy it was able to help you out.
Good video. Am curious how or if this works with Spotify etc.

Is there a way to LOWER volumn on incoming texts or phone call notice. Its so loud it scares me it notifies me. Thanks
What type of Subaru & model year do you have?
My 23 OB does not seem to like the sound of my voice, or accent or something.

You might mention that a Long Press on the voice command button initiates the Android Auto & Carplay access
I have a separate video that is covered in. That video was strictly meant to just cover the voice commands offered on the Subaru side.
HELP. Mine wants a password first and I can't find anything on that!

You have to have a Starlink membership for voice commands correct? I just bought a used 2021 Subaru Outback
No, voice commands will always work regardless of having a Starlink subscription.
Thank you so much!! So helpful!!

Amazed it can figure out accents, but disappointed it will take you to a place such as Starbucks where they don't make good coffee.
Hardly hands free. Chevy and Ford can do hands free for years now thru apple play. Get a clue Subaru
You can say "Hey Siri or Hey Google" in a Subaru & be hands-free. I'm not sure what you're talking about.
You simply long-press this same button for full Carplay /Android Auto functionality
