Jon does NOT seem like the kind of guy who'd return to such an iconic role if the script was toned down and "Disney-fied" to be more family-friendly. Seeing that he's back gives me 200% more faith in this project. Can't wait!

As far as I'm convinced he is not scary at all in real life. Granted, I dont think most humans are scary, but Jon Bernthal strikes me as someone like Tom Hardy. Plays hard roles like Tom Hardy played Bane in Dark Knight Rises, but is actually a pretty soft guy in real life. 😂 The real life scary guys are actually not even good looking, like Kevin Spacey, or what his name was. The predator.
I think Jon Bernthal is dishonest about his background and I have receipts. Few things are more irritating than a guy embellishing his athletic background to gain an advantage. He's done many interviews where he claims to be a former serious baseball player... recruited out of high school to play college ball then played pro ball in Russia. He used that athletic background to appear manly and athletic which got him roles... when he's actually a rich kid from an elite private high school with ZERO record showing he was a serious athlete. There's no record of him ever playing pro in Russia, in college, or even high school (see details further down). He says he “mistakenly” took theater in college, but no one takes a course way off their major by mistake. He tells a story about his first theater class where he forgot to bring an important object to talk about so he used his “catcher’s glove” because he had it with him in class, but no real catcher calls it a glove (it’s a mitt) and college players keep their gear in the clubhouse/locker room (they don’t carry it to class). How do I know... I've coached baseball for 20+ years, sent players to college, and my own son is currently a college player. Now for his record… The complete player statistics for the Russian pro baseball league from 1997-2000 (when he was there and including the Moscow team where he lived while studying theater - again, rich kid) are online… his name isn’t listed. I couldn’t find any record of him ever playing for Skidmore College, which is also a Division 3 school that doesn’t give athletic scholarships. I found no records of him playing high school ball where he’s from (Washington DC). In fact, his senior year in the DC area there were 1st team and 2nd team all-star catchers and 17 honorable mentions, so Bernthal wasn’t one of the top NINETEEN catchers in the area despite supposedly being a serious college recruit. I even did a search of all newspapers during his high school and college years… his name doesn’t seem to appear in any articles for baseball, not even a box score. He went to Sidwell Friends, the same elite private high school as Chelsea Clinton, Obama’s daughters, and many super wealthy, powerful people in DC. His parents are/were very wealthy and influential. Skidmore is primarily an expensive small college for wealthy kids who couldn’t get into better schools like Ivy League. I suspect this is a made up story to give him credibility as a former athlete to make him seem "authentic” and tough, and to get more roles. This is pathetic but totally in keeping with celebrity/Hollywood falsehoods and child of wealth making up accomplishments. Why do so many people worship celebrities and believe whatever they say? Looks to me like Jon Bernthal is an entitled rich kid who made up his background so people would see him as a regular guy who got into theater by accident.

Okay YES! My absolute favorite depiction of Frank Castle. Also for everyone belly aching about "Disney is gonna ruin him" Frank Castle isn't JUST hyper violence and anger. He is a DEEPLY layered and complex character all perfectly capture by Jon Bernthal so the idea that he would be "ruined" because we may not see him graphically cave someones head in or shoot a bar in half with a machine gun grossly insults and reduced both the charater and the great actor that plays him. I can't wait to see The Punisher again no matter where he lands.

Agreed. I trust Bernthal to protect the work he did previously when he works with Disney/Marvel. Sooner they get this guy back on our screens, the better. His introduction in Daredevil was hands down the best intro of any supe across all Marvel products. Series 1 of Punisher then added to that quality. Bernthal absolutely nailed the performance.

I literally just got done watching it for the 3rd time. Like an hour ago. Then this came across my phone. Very excited. No one could play that part better. He was beyond brilliant. One of my favorite actors.
My all time favorite hero overall is Captain America, but Mr. Bernthal's Punisher is my absolute favorite MCU character specifically. My life became complete when it was confirmed that he's returning. 🤘💀
