I really hate when the door panels are one piece, such a pain, balancing the tub while detailing. One last step I do with my gauges, is add a drop of Pledge floor wax, to give it the 'glass' or plastic clear lens effect. Thanks Raoul great video!
I was recently gifted a number of bottles of paint that had sat awhile. I added a BB, attached each bottle (one by one) to an old blade in my reciprocating saw and shook away! An evening well spent - now each bottle only needs a generous hand shaking. Just my way…..
I do the same with my brush in the end of the chrome pen, looks great, I like when the side panels are separate to make it easier, I love doing this kind of detailing even if nobody really looks inside.👍🏻👍🏻 gauge rings need chromed I did my dads vette exactly how his is on his model I gave him
Thank you very much. I forgot the chrome rings! Interior is already glued in but I might be able to get the brush in there! Chassis is also in and getting close to finished.
@@TheMuscleCarModeler Nobody will probably notice it, I never glue my chassis on if I can get away with it, sometimes a seat will pop off or a wing window, I did some. My Chevelle is one of my top five builds, I learned to polish during that time and it is so slippery I kept dropping it doing polishing. Love your vids, I wish you would do more on past builds you've done. Stay busy man!👍🏻👍🏻❤
@@TheMuscleCarModeler I just started my next project amt's 55 Chevy Cameo and i used your tip for the planks in the bed and i am going to shoot some testors clear coat on it it looks great!
I Really Like The Leather Look On The Back Seat, Did The Model Come Looking Like That ?,, Or Did Raoul Ingeniously Do Such To Simulate The Leather Look?...I Ask Cuz It Looks Awesome!!
Thanks. These seats were molded that way. No real tricks on this one and just used semi-gloss black on them. However, I have used a flat paint like tan then buffed it a little to give it a semi-gloss look on the high surfaces and it gives it a nice look.
I do similar, in fact it was my first youtube video, I tend to use the orange rather than the yellow. I need to give the yellow a try to see what results it gives.
Great work Raoul, thanks for the tips. That is pretty much the same way I clean my brushes and do my wood as well. Some time try dry brushing a little dark red before you do the black. I have found that it really adds to the look. I have also dry brushed rust-colored paint with great results.
Yes, the red or a rust color is a good idea. Also, I would put a little thinner in the black to make it more of a wash so it runs down in the deeper crevices highlighting the raised wood grain a little more. I think it would add some depth. Just a thought. I have a '71 Charger I am working on right now. It has a little less woodgrain on the doors, but my door panels are separate from the chassis. Glad I found this video!
Doing the same thing with my fingers to stop shaking. We're getting old. lol I've made my own woodgrain mix: Tamiya wooden deck + Tamiya transparent orange. And if i want it to be darker, I put some Tamiya black wash on it.
My hands shake to much I'm 51and have had that problem since I was a teenager I have no idea what causes my hands to shake to much I can't paint trim for s**t either it totally sucks. Painting small detail items is ruff for me. You do an amazing job on everything you do.
I shake mine and I have a small steel ball that I added to my paint jars. So when I shake them it mixes just like a spray can. I mention it in some of my other videos. I edited it out though as it sounds funny. You don't need 30 seconds of me spanking the monkey off camera!
Pretty decent entry level work. Nice clear shots of the parts and what you are doing / done. However, it is SUPER BORING to watch your video for 15-20 minutes of painting an area. For instance on the dash board, you do not need to video painting the entire part. Simply start the piece you want to show, cut the camera, and finish off camera THEN return to the video. Get it ? Nobody wants to watch anyone paint an entire area with flat brown for 10 minutes. Just about put me to sleep waiting fir you to finish painting the console in brown. Start the area, cut the camera, finish the area off camera, come back and show the CORE of your video, like how to woodgrain.
I agree. Videos like this are a bit boring. Plus they take forever to film and slow down building the model. Stopping and starting then editing everything into one video. I have had a number of viewers wanting to see me do more actual painting and working than just talking and explaining. I prefer to do the updates than these How To:s myself but don’t mind sharing. I have been asked many times to do this video. I figured with this one the viewer can fast forward if they want. I got many complaints on my How To strip model bodies video because I only talk about doing it and not actually film dunking the body and scrubbing it with a tooth brush every hour. I figured who would want to see that. You just can’t please everyone!

Thank you!
I always kind of found it relaxing doing some of that kind of detailing.
Me too!
Toss a BB in the jar to help you mix the paint. Works for me!
I do!

Glad it helped! I just spit that one out as I do it all the time but pointed it out!

Tamiya panel liners or a flat black wash are your friends for engraved wood paneling.
Yes they work well.
Excellent job, good steady hand and a beautiful tip, thanks a lot

Are you wearing an opitvisore or some kind of magnification device?
No but I think I’m getting to the point of needing one.
very timely for me... thanks for posting

Thank you! My hands have always been a little shaky and I don’t know why. I just deal with it. It’s also why I try to airbrush as much as possible.
Great tutorial ... thanks for sharing

Great vid, thanks now mine can look like yours.
No problem 👍! Oh wait.... LOL!
Good video.thanks buddy👍
Thank you!
Another great tip vid.
Thank you!
You need to add some paint thinner to your jar also it looks like its too dry needs to be more runny
Maybe but it works great on the wood and that is why. I mention that it could be thinned more and I would if I was airbrushing it.
dam! that's beautiful!!
Thank you!
Wow awsome info
Thank you!
Glad to see! Thanks.
Thanks!
That was cool.
Thanks!
