All that coal, all that engineering ,all that equipment and lastly all that pride ,guts and hard endeavour lost forever not just here but all over the uk ,an act of national criminality,we land up importing coal, importing electricity ,as quoted the politics of the mad house!

I really miss going underground, I don't miss the work though. worked at Warsop Main & Shirebrook. the thought of not salvaging is another heartbreak on top of everything else but don't worry the council have us recycling tin cans at the end of the drive . just think of the miles upon miles of 3" harmourd cables never mind all the machines. Now that's a crime.

I did my Depts practical here in 89, forget which face...VW ? think i got out on the second level...is this the same one? Do you mind if I add this to my Channel?

Absolutely mate, add it to your channel. When I started U/G at Big K in 1992 they were just finishing VW6’s about to start up 7’s on the 2nd level so probably 4’s or 5’s in 89.

One of the best jobs I have up and till the strike then the industry was fucked. 90% of the mines should still be open. Loved seeing belt jointing machines work on the belts as a Forman

Made me laugh when they closed it. Coming out crying, pathetic. What about us the miners that ended up on the dole just after 85.
