Lol😅 Did Tommy Tallywhacker make the compilation?
Lol! I wouldn't be surprised.
Of course the only other way to get Intellivision games back in the 90s would be to scour the local penny saver for one. That’s a newspaper that’s kind of like Craigslist but instead of agreeing to meet up in some parking lot you printed your home address and phone number so someone could just show up to buy your stuff.
Interesting! No way that would work these days. At least I wouldn't feel comfortable with it anymore. We have something similar and people occasionally still post in it but I think just their phone number.
There were good deals because if you sold something under $25 the ad was free. So Atari intv etc for 25 was common. Not to mention trampolines and lawnmowers
That's cool. I don't think they have that awesome deal here.
@@KaptainKlassic this was in America. It just showed up in the mailbox. I guess it’s all online now.
@@GTV-Japan yeah ours was called Bonnie Buyer. I think they still have it but I don't think there's really many people that get it anymore. It's just a local thing.
3:51 I would come round to play intellivision sports games with a friend… if I had any 😢
also, please keep making comp vids… I LOVE EM 🎉
You're never friendless here on the Kaptain Klassic channel! Don't worry, more where this came from!
I remember liking this collection a lot as a kid. Snafu is fun no matter the platform
I'd never hate on your childhood. Plus there wasn't as many options back then so I can't blame you.
Activision Tennis for the 2600 was hard core.
That was so much better. I loved the view in that one.
I have the Activision collection for PS1, which I bought used around the time that PS2 was coming out. I don’t remember the controls being horrible, but at that time the Atari 2600 graphics did not seem appealing to me anymore once I actually played some games, so I quickly gave up on it. Now I can appreciate that style again. I’ll have to load up the Activision collection and try them out!
Yeah definitely try it out and see if it plays similarly to this one. How funny would that be if Activision just put all the work into their own compilation and didn't even care with this one? Lol
@@KaptainKlassic I finally dug out the Activision collection today. Although the games didn’t hold my attention very long, I think in general they worked pretty well. It comes with 30 games, and they controlled decently, but you can’t use the analog sticks (d-pad only). Some of the games seemed ridiculously fast, like Spider Fighter. I don’t know if that’s what the original game played like, or if it’s due to the emulation, or that I used a PS3 to play the PS1 disc. Anyway, the classics I remembered like River Raid and Pitfall were great, and I found a few more that I liked such as Hero and Crackpot. Not a bad PS1 disc if you can find it cheap!
@@soundandvision77 awesome! Thanks for getting back to me about this. Might have to get a copy sometime.
@@KaptainKlassic you’re welcome! One other random place you can play a lot of the Activision games is in Call of Duty Coldwar, funnily enough. There’s a retro arcade menu option that gives you access to a lot of 2600 Activision games. Pretty weird, but a nice bonus if you have it!
@@soundandvision77 that's actually pretty cool. Never knew about that. I play CoD on rare occasions but I've been sleeping on a lot of the newer ones.
yeah this looks pretty miserable. the problem with a lot of these older game consoles before they had standardized controllers, is that there's wild experimentation where the button functions are different for every game. physical Intelevision games typically came with a card that slid over the controllers keypad that displayed what each button did.
if you want a genuinely good Intelevision compilation that more accurately recreates the experience, I'd take a look at Intelevision Lives! on DS. It utilizes standard controls, but it also uses the DS's touch screen to recreate the keypad for each game, overlay and all. basically it makes it so all of the functions are at your fingertips and you don't have to press a toggle to clunkily bring up the keypad menu. that collection also includes a lot of the games you mentioned were omitted from this one, like the dungeons and dragons title, although it's had its license stripped out of it.
Intelevision Lives! is also on home consoles, but I wouldn't bother with those versions as they're more in line with what you just played. the DS version is far superior. I know DS games are difficult to capture footage for unless you want to external cam it, but it would be totally worth it in my opinion.
Someone else actually just informed me about the DS version as well. I actually don't own a DS anymore but if I ever do again I'll be sure to get it. Thanks for the thoughtful comment and for watching!
The cave man days of game compilations, man have we come a long way. If you want to check out some outstanding compilations look at the Samurai Showdown Neo Geo collection or TMNT Cowabunga collection, they're as good as the Atari 50 in my opinion
Haven't seen the Neo Geo one I'll definitely look into it. Cowabunga Collection looks pretty awesome though!
I found my new favorite channel, nice video keep it up
Hey thank you so much! I'm glad you're a fan. Welcome!
Night Stalker and Astrosmash are great games for the Intellivision. The controls are simple. Good video that bring some memories back !
Definitely not hating on all the games, just the compilation itself. Glad this brought back some good memories for you. Thank you for watching!
Awesome video. I remember being excited for this when it first came out given emulation wasn’t a big thing yet. And not pulling the trigger. Glad I didn’t lol
Thank you bro! Looks like you made the right choice.
Nice review. Thanks for the vid
Absolutely! Thank you for watching!
When this comp came out it was exciting for Intellivision fans like myself. You managed to pass over some of the best games like Night Stalker and Astrosmash. Then you got your ass handed to you playing Space Armada lol. Stadium Mud Buggies is actually a pretty fun game if you know how to play it. I think it's unfair that you make it like the compilation sucks just because you don't understand how to play the games. I was laughing pretty hard when the directions to Checkers popped up on the screen and you still couldn't figure out how to play it lol. That's how games used to be back in the day, you had to read the instruction manual before playing. Now days we have the internet so we can just look up the instructions. As far as the two player games go, that's how they were on the original Intellivision too. Plenty of friends and family played those games with me back in the day. When I got this collection my dad was all about playing some Boxing and some others with me. Also played it with a couple of friends. Intellivision, weed, and friends go together well. That said, this is honestly the worst Intellivision collection out there. Intellivision Lives on PS2, Xbox, and GameCube is way better and the collection on DS is even better than that. Don't let that Amico BS give you a negative opinion of old Intellivision. I assure you that people were blown away by it back in the day. It didn't do as well as the Atari VCS because they didn't have arcade ports right away and it was way more expensive. Plus, people are pretty dumb in general. All those buttons were too much for them. It is the Intelligent Television, so it's hard for dumb people to figure out.
Intellivision must be played with original controllers.
I got this way back in the day, and yeah it wasn't great. Bit of a bummer since I bought it based only on how much I liked the previous collection, without playing it first.
Yeah that's a bummer for sure. Do you remember what the price was of this one when it came out?
@@KaptainKlassic I'm pretty sure it was $30
@@stevep9177 sounds about right
Imagic made some of the best games for the INTV in my opinion. Activision had some good ones as well. Ashame they didn't just put them all in one collection.
The Activision games were on the Atari 2600.
Never bought this compilation but I did buy the one that came out for the ps2 which is better since it has unlockables.
Would that be Intellivision Lives one or whatever? I heard that one was pretty good actually.
@@KaptainKlassic Yep that was it. It at least has stuff like intellivision commercials and interviews. Also the back saids that all games are optimize for the dualshock.
@@MissingLinx nice definitely sounds a lot better than this
Intellivision was the worst console with the worst controllers ever. D&D would need a new contract. Like Atari didn't have Superman. Pong was a better system.
Yeah that makes sense. I can't recall if Colecovision was any better. They always seemed about the same to me. I did have the Intellivision and Colecovision flashback consoles but I sold them a couple years back.
@@KaptainKlassic They we're identical.
Wow, what a hater! Intellivision rocks!
@@sinistermoon No more LSD for you my friend. Hahaha!
@@douglasbriel6103 I prefer shrooms personally. I get it though, plenty of Intellivision haters out there.
