this is one of my favorite songs.... "Oh conscience, where will you carry me? I found you, star of terrifying effigies." .... man i love Sufjan Stevens.
Now that ive heard this, I can see where e-dubbles cold stars came from. this song makes me feel uplifted, and cold stars makes me feel alive. I am happy to have found this.
Your video description is SO refreshing and filled with the simple, beautiful Spirit of Jesus. He is a real hope to us, through faith, and was real salvation to those wise men, who overcame their doubts and the hardships of the desert through faith too. How blessed that we have been given a Lord to find, Who has delivered us from all of our sins.
thanks for your thorough description! such a great reminder that there is something higher and larger than us...and that creation is both the HEAVENS and the earth. simply beautiful and awe-inspiring. hehe blasting this song on repeat got my 14 yr old bro into Sufjan.
For those of you that are fans of Aesop Rock, please check out the mix of this song and Aesop's None Shall Pass, off of the "Illinoize Remix Mixtape"... sounds amazing mixed together.
you're very welcome :) yes, it's always good to remember that we're not alone and i figure that whatever, or whoever, is behind the beauty of the stars and the heavens must be, well, beautiful ;) blessings to you :)
If our minds are actors in the unified collective of existents, then it seems that, given our power of self-reflection, we would be able to discover the basic, fundamental principle underlying all of reality. The basic principle that holds a star in existence is the same for our consciousness. Our consciousness, as a manifestation of the most basic principle of reality, is most probably a reflection of that principle through the inter-workings of fundamentally simple to complex physical systems. We are conscious matter and matter is conscious. God exists.
@snowysquirrels yeah, I really appreciate Sufjan Stevens syle of music. I don't always comprehend all of his lyrics, but that lends an air of mystery to some of his songs, especially this one :) Yes, I'm looking forward to spring and summer, when it warms up again, so I can start going out at night with my faithful companion, Shasta. :)
Guide us to thy Perfect Light! Lead us to the Child in the manger, we will bring our gifts to Him. I know the gift He wants the most right now is you and me.
renegadelove3 That was my guess, but I wasn't sure. ;) And yeah I live in Oregon so not that guy. And what's up with there being more than one Matthew Wiley? There can be only one, lol
I FEEL THE SAME WAY. I was actually looking to see if someone commented this😂 I noticed that there are quite a few songs by sufjan that I would love even more with out some one the noises he puts in. I respect his decision, but sometimes there is just too much noise going on that takes away from the piece. Sometimes less is more. I wanna hear more of his voice and acoustic instruments. Now Carrie and Lowell was that perfect medium for it.
still remember driving around town in the snow looking at all the Christmas lights with my first love. heaaart wrenching.
Where perfection is, there too is reality.
Omg same. I miss my first boyfriend even though we would have never worked.
I am right there with you.

The true beauty of stars is that everyone thinks about something different from looking at the same source of light.

I sang this song in my school's choir last year. And from the beginning I fell in love with this song.
I heard this once on the radio. It haunted me for 2 years not knowing the artist,s name or title. Finally found it on line.

the one hater that put a dislike to this video can listen to mainstream music and listen to vain music like the rest.
