In this video, Did You Know Gaming takes a look at some facts, secrets, Easter eggs and history of Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. The game was developed by HAL and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo 64. This video also touches on the development of Kirby Bowl 64, as well as Kirby Air Ride. Through our analysis of Kirby 64, its gameplay and beta builds, we hope to show some of the more interesting facts from the making of the game and have its history explained.

This game has my favorite ost from the Kirby series and is my personal favorite because of nostalgia.

I love Kirby 64 so much. Easily my favorite. Kinda sucks to see that some stuff was cut out like more characters being playable, I think Adeline in particular would have been very fun to use.

At the same time, since I don't see them going back to the "one ability = one move" formula, I can't see it returning as full-fledged as it was in 64, given how complex it could turn out, going against the Kirby franchise's aim to be easily accessible.
Wasn't that mechanic only used in Squeak Squad? Or was it also in one of the 3ds Kirby games, which I haven't played.

I'd like to think that instead of having left Earth/Shiver Star, we all died during the nuclear apocalypse and Kirby is bobsledding over our frozen corpses. And the only reason we don't hear the crunch of bones and frozen mutated flesh is because of Kirby's infant-like innocence. Which would also explain why man-made factory presses have faces and test tube monstrosities look like Sonic Critters to him. Hell, maybe EVERYTHING in EVERY Kirby game is far more fucked up than they appear.
I mean, Christ. Zero in Dreamland 3 shoots blood at you, and then his final form is his eye in a quite bloody manner cracks out of his body. Leaving an empty, broken carcass behind.

Kirby 64 is the whole reason I got a Nintendo 64 as a kid. I played a demo of it in a hotel and was 'I gotta have this as soon as possible' I didn't even realize it was part of a trilogy until I played through all the Kirby games in order.
To me, Kirby 64 has been the best Kirby game to date. The gameplay mechanic of combining 2 powers was genius. I always found myself combining different powers to see what will Kirby ended up doing.
I can't choose a best Kirby game because they are all amazing in their own way.
The style differences between Sakurai's and the rest are welcome and refreshing.
Seems like this was more a Did You Know gaming about Kirby in general than just Kirby 64.
It was entirely about Kirby 64 tho.

In the cutscenes of Kirby 64 has Ribbon being chased by 3 lesser dark matters that lack the dark matter spheres and are called Dark Rimuro, Rimuru, & Rimura that possesses Waddle Dee, Adeleine, & King DeDeDe

I do feel the gameplay was kind of lacking in comparison to the Superstar (although I didn't enjoy that one too much until they refined it with later games) formula.

He had made a suggestion. If you really wanna know who did the game in it was the director of Sticker Star. He thought people might find it cool of people picked up if Mario had crossed generic toad #350 previously.

That's pretty much the point of the NSMB games though, they've been tapping into the nostalgia of the original games. They were trying to appeal to those who quite gaming after the NES/SNES.
That's also why 3D World was a 2D/3D Mario hybrid, it was meant to ease those guys into the 3D games.
The thing with Sticker Star is he never told them how to design the game, he just said something new and with existing characters. So the design decisions people have a problem with weren't even his doing.
What about BOTW and Mario Odyssey? Than again Miyamoto had little involvement with those games or the Switch in general

IROHA is a pangram that is (or rather was) kind of used as an alphabet and/or ABC song, especially before the "modern" gojuon became widespread.
Even now, if something needs to be ordered by alphabet in Japan, they would likely use that poem since everyone seems to know it... or rather start of it at least ;) It's kind of like roman numerals for us, "I" is I, "RO"=II, "HA"=III, "NI"=IV, you get the idea.
What I mean is that this song does not hold any special meaning, it's just a placeholder for "oh we need a bunch of continuous speech, say something quickly".

Kirby 64 was the first game I remember buying, with saved up allowance/bday money (etc.), as a kid and I beat it in 1 night. I was super pissed.

The Dark Matter trilogy may have been a classic among Kirby fans, but ironically Dark Matter never truly died as it managed to possess Magolor in Return to Dreamland and even Meta-Knight had to fend off that creature in Planet Robobot. Who knows, perhaps Zero is still alive.
