I bought used in the 80's "River of life" actually "Photos of ghosts" which included Celebration but a slightly different version. It's great. I think I bought Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark from the same used records bin. Maybe also Gentle giant and Philip Glass the album with a mirror maze wasn't it with Brian Eno.

Dear friend, you have listened to the highest point of italian prog music. The PFM of the early 1970s is stunning, the first two studio albums are pure gold, the second ("Per un amico") was ranked 19th by Rolling Stone among the 50 best prog albums in the world.
The song you were listening to is called "Appena un po'" and it comes from the second LP.
Listen to them from the studio and you will be even more fascinated. 🙂👍

The first 3 PFM albums have Italian lyrics but when PFM signed with Manticore (ELP's record label) many songs were re-recorded with new English lyrics written by Pete Sinfield and released over 2 new albums. River Of Life is the English lyric version of Appena un po.. You have a choice of studio versions tp listen to! The bass player (Patrick Djivas) joined PFM in 1974 and is still with them as is the drummer Franz Di Cioccio.

    • @ithaliem

Japanese prog masters Kenso consider one of PFM's piece, Four Holes in the Ground to be the most perfect prog composition. They have also covered it, it can be found at Kenso II (1982) 2002 remastered version as a bonus track. Both bands are strongly influenced of classical music and they both value the musical tradition of their own country.

@@Aki-Ho PFM italian song? For example I Cavalieri Del Tavolo Cubico (The knights of the cubic table) from the eighth LP Passpartù, 1978. It's an album entirely in Italian, a transition between the prog rock of the previous discs and the songwriting in a rock key. But all this LP is valuable. Moreover last collaboration of Bernardo Lanzetti, best voice of PFM of all the times in my opinion.
