LafargeHolcim Forum 2019 - Re-materialising Construction

Cairo hosted the 6th International LafargeHolcim Forum for Sustainable Construction (2019); a conference which brings leading thinkers from architecture and the engineering industries together every three years, to advance academic discussions around sustainable construction. Christine Binswanger and Lord Norman Foster were counted among this year’s keynote speakers, who traversed the challenges of today’s urbanization processes and built environment. Dominant themes included: How to de-carbonize materials whilst grappling with a growing population, fragile planet and increasing demand for material? The urgent issue of climate change took precedence in all talks, emphasizing how our actions over the course of the next twenty years will be critical in determining the future health of the Earth and its precious resources.
