Crimson Peak clown automaton by Thomas Kuntz

I was asked by Guillermo Del Toro to build an automaton and excavator machine for Crimson peak. He wanted them to be old school real machines, scratch built and handmade.I sculpted engineered, machined and painted these pieces especially for the project.Keith Thompson's production illustrations were followed closely however working, dimensional drawings needed to be made in addition to work out the real world miniature engineering ...this video shows some of the processes captured mainly on the fly using an iPhone ...I hope you enjoy it
