I’m sorry, but I need this explained to me. Who are these people who do this? Is it people who wanted to play sports but didn’t make any of the teams? Or is it like the Special Olympics?? Why not ride a real horse, since that’s clearly what they wish they were doing?
hobby horsing is a sport and people of all ages can do it. There are competitions like jumps 70-80 cm or cross country. Many people who do hobby horsing also ride normal horses, like me, I do both.
The person who replied first kinda explained it, but I'd like to add some people doing this cannot ride/own a real horse. Like me. Thank you for respectfull asking questions!

Your upper body is the riders upper body, and your legs are the horses front legs. Hope this hrlps!
