  • I joined The Great Guitar Build Off 2021- the Kit Build competition - and in this video i'm routing out the neck pocket. But how long and deep should it be?

Another video about guitar building for beginners.
I’m at guitar building beginner and I have been following The Great Guitar Build Off competition 2020. I learned a lot from the competitors and that inspired me greatly to build a guitar myself.
I built my first guitar under lockdown last summer 2020 and now it’s time to build the next one. Guitar building kind of hooked me.
You can watch first guitar build right here:
    • How I built my dream g...
As in my first build I am also this time around very inspired by NOVO guitars.
My building philosophy is:” Don’t reinvent the wheel”. My inspiration this time is the NOVO Serus T model.
I have bought a neck from GuitarAnatomy.co.uk and the body is built of old pine wood floor boards from a house built in 1808.
The point is to learn how to build great guitars. It can't be rocket science, but it's fascinating. My plan is to learn from the best by researching materials, components, and methods.
    In this video I cover:
How deep should the neck pocket be?
How long should the neck pocket be?
How do you test if it's straight?

02:32 Why isn't it perfect? What are the problems there? I removed a year ago the neck of my strat copy and now the body seems to have changed due to humidity. The neck pocket was way too tight anyway. I'm trying to realign and reroute the neck pocket now. If your method wasn't perfect how can I achieve an absolutely centered neck? Doesn't matter how much work it is. I'm a perfectionist and I'm trying to achieve less than tenth of a millimeter deviation from body to the end of the headstock. I want it perfectly centered How should I do it? Your accent sounds German. Grettings from Braunschweig by the way.

For anyone watching, it wasn’t a major fail also he was just being funny, it was the thickness of the tape that the pattern bit of the router ran over which made the pocket template slightly too small at first.
