I got my black Supra Focus on Saturday. It shot bullet holes straight out of the box with only a tiny bit of rest tuning. Getting it to perfectly group a bare shaft with fletched at 30mts took 10 minutes. Just got back from the range an hour ago. I shot a WA60/1440 round [36 arrows each at 60, 50, 40 & 30mts all at 1220 face] in a light, sporadic breeze for a score of 1385. Very very happy. This would have won our interclub tournament last weekend by 41 points [Assuming I would shoot as well in the tournament] .It seems to hold on target much easier than my '17 PSE Xpression. For the money, an awesome bow
Wow thanks Jeff - I felt in the review it was a great bow. Talking with Dan Jasa who shot a PB at the US Nationals by 15 points with it. I sold one local this week and the customer reported the same. I hope he starts to shoot Australian records with it. Fingers crossed.
Thanks - I do these because I get so many questions about how a bow shoots and compares - customers can spend hours in the shop. At least I hope this makes it easier. These bows in 3 weeks have sold really well for me. Plenty of people have shot the blue one in the video and everyone loves it.
I was fortunate to be in the shop when this new bow arrived. My reaction was "wow" ! PSE have really nailed it with this new Supra Focus for me. This Ice blue colour is beautiful. After all these recent years, a leading manufacturer has recognised the advantages of a deflex riser target bow. Cams, brace height, deflex riser, ATA, grip, sleek stylish classy looks etc. Would be proud to shoot one of these. The best PSE yet ! ;-)
A riser that is deflex & centred such as this will tip back without any stabilisation; not an issue. Hoping that this new Focus geometry is the beginning of a few design tweaks with target bows.
lol. Deflex risers are not new...My first PSE from 1989 was deflex and a great target bow and YES they are more forgiven - been shooting old PSE for years now cos it was difficult to find a good deflex riser bow. Love the feel of deflex risers. PSE make great bows no questions but if this is the feel of bows to come then we've gone almost full circle... lol. can't wait...
I've got a 2016 supra and love it too pieces, I didn't want this bow to be as good as it is because now I'm tempted to buy it! Might wait until hopefully a 2020 version considering the differences from the 2016 to the 2017 supra
Oh yeah I love your videos especially this one. I finally can decide which bow I will buy. I prefer this since u said its less vibration and very stable. Well, for my first compound bow this will be great. You helped me to choose between HOYT Prevail 40 and this 2019 Supra Focus, since in my country the price differences is about IDR 10 M (about 10K AUD) more expensive than this Supra Focus. Thanks man, your video is always great!
Hello Steven, thanks for the awesome videos! I was wondering if it is feasible to convert an older Supra from the single cam style over to the evolve system, an is it worth doing. I love my current riser and would like to keep it if possible. Just wondering and thanks :)
The angle on the limb pocket was slightly different. But yes you could but I think the cost to do so you are best to buy the new bow and sell the old. Changing cams change poundage, then you need to work our string lengths.
Was just in my local shop the other day comparing these it was so hard to decide, I love the way the shootdown looks and they both shot so similar, I experienced more shock from the supra bare bow than I did from the shootdown, i ended up choosing the supra based on your review and what the shop guys were telling me
One of my staff shoots the Shootdown. Focus I think thinner grip and due to balance you add more weight to front. But I agree due to balance and more parallel limbs Shootdown looks and feels better. But I think you will be happy, I still shoot fine.
Shot one at the ASA Classic this weekend and I will give my opinion on it. Since I own a Supra now I will say I like the 2016-2017 Supra riser design but that’s more personal and not really what you need to look at in a bow first. Now on to the shot WOW, it was very sweet shooter. I shot without a stab and did have the kick back but I know that’s fixable with stabs. This will be my next bow(thought the shootdown would be it). And These videos are one of the main reason I switched to PSE from Hoyt. Keep up the good work, look forward to you setting it up and giving a full review after a little while shooting it.
Archery Supplies No I just shot the demo bow at the PSE booth. I wish I could have shot with it ha! I feel like you do I was blown away once I shot it. I honestly did not want to like it but I think it shoots better than the shootdown to me, just easier on the shot!
Hi Steve, great review. I bought one 2017 Supra EXT after saw your video last year and become a huge fan of PSE :) What you feel the difference between 2017 Supra EXT and 2019 Supra Focus? Can’t wait to see your next video about Supra :)
The Old Supra is a great bow, but look at the stabilizer at shot it is not moving so Im super excited to see how it goes. Tracy came 3rd at Nationals with Supra with a broken hip. She only lost by 2points. she has not been shooting much due to the break.
Because the limbs on the new Supra are not past Parallel it means the bow moves slightly forward on shot which means less chance of hand torque affecting the shot on shot. Also it puts a forward pressure on the bow at full draw so less chance of left right issues at full draw, more similar to a Prevail. The only downside is that it can beat up your bow arm and bow shoulder if you have shoulder issues. It looks like they may have nailed the perfect balance point between the Prevail & the Shootdown with a bow with enough forward pressure at full draw & on shot for stability & forgiveness without the higher shock of the Prevail.
I am looking forward to Stephen's review of the new PSE LAZER, but I am leaning towards the supra with the EM cams. Either way I have to sell my NXT31 first 😭.
Gotcha. The shoot down is a great looking bow. I really prefer the yokes but if you have to shim, the top hat system Mathews has is the best way. No e clips to loose and no loose shims to fall when the axle is removed. I’d like to see pse adopt that.
Everyone is shooting holes straight out of the box. Moving spaces which is what I did with my Perform is super easy. Because you don't need a top hat system - you just move one to the other side. The latest Performs are shooting bullet holes too.
Everyone is reporting they shoot perfect straight out the box so it has been great, everyone has loved shooting the bow and so many people have now shot the bow in the Video.
I have always admired your honesty Steven. I think its only fair higher end target bows are tested with a stabiliser since no doubt the manufacturer designed the bow with a stabiliser set up in mind. Im wondering how the TRX would have performed with a heavy stabiliser out front, since it too is top heavy and falls back. Seems PSE are using a tried and tested old design with new technology on this one, choosing function over fashion.
Great videos. First look at this new Supra is PSE lost the gr8 look of the old Supra. Pity! The angle of the limbs is quite interesting as quite different from their other bows. Not sure yet what to think of it. Been shooting PSE for over 24 years and love them. Still shooting their now quite old Mach pro ... just love that bow. Looking at a shootdown or Xpression (really like the look of the Xpression) but Shootdown seems really nice to shoot... hard to try different bows over here unfortunately :-( waiting to see more reviews of that new Supra but for now still looking at a good 2nd hand Shootdown or Xpression.
It seems that when PSE do a new bow it really is a new bow not just a couple of improvements marketed as "new", I'm not overly impressed by the look but I will be interested in seeing how it shoots in full target setup.
Some people love the riser. I have sold a few of these now - Two people above have commented on it. Dan Jasa at the US Nationals shot a PB of 15 points I think 1408.
Kenneth Osborne I just purchased a focus blind without shooting. In my first outing 18m indoor. I beat my personal best by about 29points. Best bow I have ever shot !
Ok now that you have this one sorted out when can we expect to hear about the XL Focas ? I need to know before I have to spend this money on something else. I'm an old timer and have been weighting for some one to come out with a real Deflex* riser . ( limb peeved point behind the grip ) . hurry up! my pockets. are burning up!
@@ArcherySuppliesLonsdale I've had my NXT 31 on Craigslist for almost two days and not even a nibble. Ahhhh I can't buy the focus xl Em 85% till I sell my old bow.
PSE took all the personality away from the Supra. Now it just looks like any other bow. But marketing wise it leaves one more iteration left, design the bat wings back into it. Good job as always.
I would imagined some people love those ghastly wings. Me? Not so much. I have the unfinished bottle cap openers on my Shotdown. Would I miss them if they disappeared? Probably not.
Ken Osborne who commented above hated the Bat bow, he loves the look of this bow. It is interesting how different people see things. I did not like the look, but I loved the way it shot.

I know I expected it to be disappointing then wow.
I guess it will tip back with a deflex riser. But a deflex riser will torque less than a reflex riser so this is the best design IMO.
What is that bow in the back ground with weed riser and white limbs and cams
It's one of the early Supra's. The limbs and cams were painted white.
can you get the higher let off mods for this bow ??? 80-90%
yes
Finally a new bow with forgiving geometry! I want to try one
