It is, and this is the only way I know how to put it, it is a case of spiritual extortion. Everybody who lives in that entire geographic area knows about Takis. And they all know that sooner or later Takis will come upon or be told about these wretched situations and that he will not turn his back and he will rescue, even though his shelter is bursting at the seams, and so the perpetrators of cruelty and neglect will always feel that they have carte blanche.

We have been told lately how the laws especially in chaining are being enforced now unlike years past, and we see Officer Giannis finding culprits where Takis takes the dogs away, the explanation that the scofflaws have surrendered them and are told no more dogs allowed. That is great for the dogs but with Takis being the solution for every chained dog being surrendered so the owner is not prosecuted, how is this sustainable? It is very worrying. Add to this all of these either pregnant dogs or those with newborns found roaming or mothers in hastily dug dens in bushes, and it does not take a rocket scientist to see these are probably chained or unhoused dogs someone has quickly removed and taken too far away for the dog to find her way home. A chained abused dog is a new legal problem for the owner so he will want to send any dog especially a pregnant dog away--especially before he suddenly has 6 or 8 on his property overnight! Maybe in the past he "got rid" of puppies right away but now knows people may notice that one day he has a mother and newborns and the next day the puppies are gone. With the new police watching out for cruelty, these owners may now be getting rid of the mother right before they know birth is imminent. We can see this pattern with the volume increasing. Police start watching and it is raining pregnant dogs. These owners know the score by now, may be acting quickly before they come to the attention of the eyes of the proactive police. Dump the dogs, somebody will call Takis. This past few months it is easy to connect dots and the police action mentions made sometimes. We can add 2 and 2 and get the owners voluntary and panicked "get rid" and Simeone will call Takis= 4! As you said they all absolutely know Takis and how many times now have people looking for mushrooms in the hills find dogs up there? "Hey everybody will be looking for mushrooms now, so leave the dogs up there. Somebody will call Takis." (!)
There will never, ever, ever be another so dedicated as our beloved Takis, Patron Saint of animals of Creta, willing to rescue every single, solitary animal that comes his way or he even hears a whisper of needing his help. With not much more than about 20 years left for Takis to continue his work, I pray every day that he finds a worthy successor to his unfathomable work in animal rescue. I cannot even begin to imagine what it would be like without his endless and relentless work in the prevention of cruelty, neglect and suffering of our most loved animal kingdom ❤❤❤❤

Such a wonderful brave Mama .willing to move mountains to save her babies there's no love so strong as a mama has for her babies . Now you can relax a little bit my darling girl . I hope her cancer can be succesfully removed . My little one has had this type of cancer twice she was a rescue and before that she had been used as a breeding dog which is what caused her cancer . She is now well and cancer free . Thanks be to God and a very skilled wonderful vet .
