Chinese New Year is not Lunar New Year.

It is the same. Lunar = 農曆. It's Chinese Lunar New Year to be exact ;) Happy C(L)NY Everyone! Cheers! 🙏🥳🧧🧨🎉🌈✨

Actually it is as it’s based on the Chinese calendar which is based on the lunar calendar, other groups eg Vietnam, Korea sometimes celebrate their New Year on a different date as they using their liner calendar. Lunar New Year is the 1st sighting of full moon in Spring…different western calendar dates for those communities. But most countries in Asia celebrate using the Chinese Calendar when translating that date to the Gregorian Calendar date.

We need to correct this gigantic horrible mistake. It is not Lunar New Year. For Chinese, Koreans, Vietnamese, Mongolian we use Lunisolar calendar. You can google this easily. Lunar is used in the Islamic calendar and Lunar New Year is for the Muslims.
Lunar calendar -- observe the moon (Muslims)
Lunisolar calendar - observe the moon and sun (Chinese, Koreans, Vietnamese, Mongolian) *The first day of Lunisolar calendar is the new year*
According to Wiki "A lunar calendar is a calendar based on the monthly cycles of the Moon's phases (synodic months, lunations), in contrast to solar calendars, whose annual cycles are based on the solar year. *The most widely observed purely lunar calendar is the Islamic calendar* "
